Verbatim 2TB USB 3.0 External HDD, $97 Harvey Norman Auburn, Broadway and Martin Pl NSW

360

It was briefly mentioned in the previous thread for a Samsung HDD http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55524 but the Harvey Norman deal is still on and possibly one of the best prices for an external HDD currently available due to the Thailand floods affecting HDD manufacturers Seagate, WD and Hitachi.

Looks like this maybe a HN Broadway special only. Plenty in stock, just unsure how long this special will last.

If anyone sees the same deal at another HN store, please advise which stores have this deal.

The verbatim HDD has a Samsung drive inside.

Does this come with a USB 3.0 cable or just the old USB 2.0 cable inside the box?

    • If it says USB 3.0 then it'll come with a USB 3.0 cable

2TB, Samsung, USB 3.0 and $97 all make this a great deal! Good work Crownanchor.
I'll check Woden (Canberra) in the morn. Fingers crossed!

Woden has a bunch of a**holes, I prefer Fyshwick now. Also if you go to fyshwick you can drop by the 7-11 for a free slurpee

      • I work in Woden so it's more of a convenience than anything else but yeah, I do agree with you there… I've not shopped at HN or Domain in years, so expensive as well.
Lol, I had no idea there were any 7-11's in Canberra at all. I'll keep that in mind though, might be nice if I'm out that way, cheers!

    • Woden doesn't have any but they do have 2TB Samsung 2.0 HDDs for $98

  • Anyone seen some good deals on a 500gb - 1tb usb3, 2.5" drive ? I really need a portable :)

    • I've found HDDs of that size rarely get advertised unless it's a clearance.
I'd say your best bet is to just check out the stores and see what they have left. A "bargain bin" is always worth having a look in. These days it all seems to be about the TBs.
The only exp I can offer you is Noontec make some good self powered 500GB/1TB HDDs and they (the 500GBs) have all served me well in the past.

    • My portable Toshiba 1TB is USB3. The connector is VERY delicate and flimsy. Don't think it's a standard USB3 connector, but just something to be weary of.

  • I have the 1TB version of this one. its avery good drive. the main downside is that the cables that come with it are way too short. also the poer cable is really thin.

  • any1 had any luck anywhere else? or price matching?

  • Anyone able to confirm whether this can be price matched in other states or HNs ?

  • Is the Western Digital 2Tb USB 3.0 Essential a better drive for $124?

Is the WD equivalent the 'Essential' or 'Elements'?

  • just went to broadway 15min ago, they had taken down the sign and it scans at $199 at the register

    • I must have missed u as I was there 15 minutes ago as well.

  • They took the sign up and it's back to 199 when scanned. Need to find the right person before they do it for me for 97. Good luck.

    • hahaha, should have argued more on it but the girl at the register didnt have a clue, do u remember who u spoke to ?

  • Thanks! Just bought one at HN Martin Place. Still plenty left as at 12:30.

  • Was it the Asian girl that rejected you? I'm going to make a complain on her as she was very rude (probably frustrated as I asked her after you). But nontheless, we are the customer and she should be doing everything she can to help. I asked one of the guy (Caucasian) in blue shirt. He approved it. Even the Indian girl behind the cash counter knew about the price (as she straight away put in $97). Hope that helps.

    • yep, it was the asian girl. gonna go back now and make them sell it at that price ! thanks

  • Ticketed 149, scans 139 at Adelaide city store

  • Called up moorabbin, chadstone, cbd and warrigal road stores (Vic). They don't even sell it, let alone have it on special
Must just be a nsw thing, luck bastards. If I was up there I'd buy 5 in a second.

just checked from HN North Ryde, they said only 3 stores left it. Auburn, Broadway and Martin Place.

    • Thanks for the info, title now updated for the 3 stores. Hopefully its still able to be obtained for $97.

I bought this from HN auburn factory outlet, it's brand new.
they still have at least 20 in stock, the price is $97, but you have to show them this picture.

  • I bought one from HN Martin Pl yesterday evening and they still had lots of them (> 30) at entrance like clearance items. But the price was $98.

The product is actually good but cables (POWER, USB) are too short for me and AC adapter takes much room of electrical outlet, which are not critical though.

  • bought one today at martin place… plenty left…

anyone know how to open this case safely?
