  • Any extras added in OP? Aliexpress had this with cover, stylus, 32 GB micro SD and screen protector for $132 USD.

    • +8

You need to factor in the GST they'll add at checkout so it'll be more like $145 US. The extra included with this deal is the free AU priority shipping that AliExpress stores certainly wouldn't be offering and the cashback. I wouldn't be too trustful of a generic 32GB microSD card either.

      • Got mine fine, however unlucky - my cellular data /mobile network is not picking up so I don't have internet unless on WiFi. Faulty on arrival! I've emailed support, new unit or refund I suppose. Waiting response.

    • Edit: nevermind

Bought this from the previous deal on BG, and arrived recently. Been using it for a few days now, mostly for watching TV shows or reading on the train.

For the most part, it's a nice tablet for its price and does its job well for me, but there were a few minor annoyances for me. 1. Lack of light sensors for automatic brightness, and 2. the inability to unlock the bootloader/root the system (if anyone figures this one out, please let me know).

    • +1

It would seem someone had success unlocking the bootloader as mention here. There are a few posts about the tablet on that forum.

    • Here is a site detailing how to root the device.

      https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-alldocube-iplay-20/

Don't have this tablet so can't verify if it works.

      • +1

That's a generic site that basically has search engine optimisations to push you to it. Usually rubbish articles.

    • +3

I've unlocked the bootloader via the identifier_token method here (just note the token will come back split over two lines, just join them together when using to sign).

However, haven't had any luck with Magisk. Patched the boot.img externally (I'm on firmware 0824) and flashes ok but won't boot.

May be system-as-root. Haven't tried a Magisk recovery image yet, had to give up for now as got the tab for the missus and she wants to use it :)

At least now it's unlocked I'll see if can find a custom recovery for it (so far a quick look didn't reveal one), might not get away with a systemless root for this one.

I just bought one of these from Banggood USD$115 delivered.

Did you actually buy it? I think not. Because with GST and snail mail shipping included it's $127.66 US.

      • +2

Paid and just notified of shipping today. Came out as AUS~$160 on my credit card. I didn't get charged any GST when paying through the app

        • +1

est shipping 15-25 business days for US$11.66 discount

          • +1

@alenpln: Yep no priority shipping for the one on Banggood and you just need to look at recent Chinese deals to see that the usual 30 business day snail mail is more like 50 business days or more.

I checked the app as Easy Money mentioned and this deal with cashback ends up slightly cheaper anyway.

            • @Clear: del

            • @Clear: While I prefer GB shipping because they use Auspost instead of BG using Fastway for AU Direct Mail, GB takes much longer before they actually ship.

My last orders were between 7 and 10 days before it shipped. Shipping time was faster with Auspost but all up averaging around 3 weeks from time of order to receiving in WA.

      • +1

Bought mine on Banggood for USD$116 with GST (there's a coupon available on the app) and it came just over 2 weeks later, even with the slowest shipping option.

        • Yeah but the associated poster says different…

          • @badboybuddah: I also bought from Banggood. The Pro version though. Received it before 3 days in Melbourne.

  • Bought mine from banggood also for AUD$158.26 incl gst and shipping. Its currently reduce from ~AUD$170 because of banggood event. Spend another AUD$20.46 incl gst and shipping for its custom fit case. Total spend $178.72. Also I'm well aware on banggood delivery time as I bought from them few times now.

  • Hi Clear,

Any discounts for the PRO version of the tablet?

    Regards,

    Tam

    • Extra $20 coupon for new users.

      • Thats misleading as it's several coupons worth up to $20. The biggest discount you get is $12 off $50 spend on fashion.

As stated above with cashback and the free priority shipping, this deal ends up cheaper.

        • Then I may as well get this one! Thanks

  • Can anyone who has used this tablet comment on how it compares to the cheapest model of the Samsung galaxy tab 10? Specs aside, how smoothly does it run, what kind of version of Android does it have, is there bloatware, will it get updates for a decent time, is there decent bug support and patches released, etc? And how is the front camera for video calls? 2mp doesn't sound quite enough

Want to know if it's worth the lower price or if the Samsung is better off with local warranty and updates.

Also, is the pro worth the $30aud more?

    TIA

    • I have one, can't compare to the Samsung but:

It's pretty smooth, I am happy with it and I am pretty fussy.
      No bloarware.
      Probably no updates.
I don't think there is a front camera, and the back is just OK. Not great at all.

Pro may be worth it with a little extra RAM, but I am happy with this one.

      • I'm guessing won't get any major Android version bumps but has been getting monthly updates recently.

        https://www.alldocube.com/en/firmware/alldocube-iplay20t1011…

I don't think it gets any OTA updates though, need to flash manually (just remember to use the Research Download Tool and untick UserData or the update will wipe everything without warning)

        • the update will wipe everything without warning

          Yikes!

Thanks for the heads up. Why they have that ticked by default is beyond me?

  • Is it worth getting a 4g LTE device if I only plan on running it on Wi-Fi for light browsing and video playback?

    • +2

Think of the 4G as an added bonus. Currently a lot of brands are pumping out these UNISOC tablets with near identical specs at a similar price. This one from Alldocube is the best out of them so far.

  • Looking to get this or the pro version to replace my original tab s 10.5" thats got a broken screen. Thoughts fam?

    • I agree. I already ordered one myself though it will probably be 2021 before it arrives at this rate.

  • Can I charge this using my phone's USB-C charger?

    • +1

Yes you can. Unfortunately it doesn't have fast charging so it'll just charge at the standard rate.

  • If anyone has this, does the stock ROM/settings allow for scheduled/automatic power on and off?
Or do I have to root for this ability?

    • +1

Yes, has this in the settings.

  • What does the pro version have that this doesn't?

    • 6GB RAM, 128GB storage.

  • Hey, can anyone confirm whether a usbc to ethernet adapter will work with one of these?

    • I've got a USB-C OTG around here somewhere, pretty sure I had a USB LAN too.

If I can find it I'll give it a go.

      • Would be real helpful :)

    • Finally found my USB LAN adapter. Then couldn't find the OTG cable :)
Anyway, once I found that, didn't really get anywhere. Physically is working, I get a link light and activity on my switch, but no connection on tablet.
There are no settings for ethernet on the tablet and I don't know if its a chipset compatibility thing or just no support (my adapter is an old Corechip RD9700).

      • Thanks for this :)

  • Anyone got an issue with YouTube not playing in higher than 144p resolution? Basically first video plays in hd but when next one autoplays it only plays in 144p and can't manually change the res in the menu. Then when you select a diff video it goes back to 1080p

    • Are you sure it's not a case of the video is only available in 144p?

      • Yes I'm sure. Basically every 2nd video plays in 144p and can't be changed

        • +1

Also noticed the tablet doesn't pick up my 5ghz wifi only 2.4ghz

  • +1

Can anyone comment on the 2mp front camera? I would like to get the tablet for my mum and she would heavily rely on the front cam for zoom and skype calls. Can anyone with the tablet provide a pic for quality check?

    • +3

I wouldn't even consider it for that. It'll be awful but the review video I linked in the deal will show you.

      • +2

Thanks, had a look and to be honest for the price and the rest of the specs I think it would be just fine. I was expecting some Minecraft style quality haha

  • +3

Ordered this on the 12th Sept and order is still yet to be shipped. It may have priority shipping but be prepared for long processing time, will update when arrives

    • Have you received your tablet yet. Thinking of ordering one, but as need to move house in few weeks might be cutting it fine.

      • +2

        Unfortunately it's still in processing

        • Not good news for both of us, but thanks for reply.

        • Any shipping update? - can you confirm purchased using this deal? Thanks heaps.

          • @rawm: I received an email on Tues from Aust Post that the order was being prepared. Checked Geekbuying account today and it is indicated that the item has been shipped. Haven't got it yet.

            • @x d: Use the tracking number on 17track and change carrier to UBI to see more tracking.

Auspost will only show anything useful after it hits Australia.

              • @bamzero: Thanks for the tip, though it arrived today so from order date is 9 business days. Not bad.

        • +1

          I got mine quickly, Sydney.
Got mine fine, however unlucky - my cellular data /mobile network is not picking up so I don't have internet unless on WiFi. Faulty on arrival! I've emailed support, new unit or refund I suppose. Waiting response.

  • Ordered one last night but didn't realise that can go through cash rewards. Bummer…
