  • Probably worth looking at the Oppo A52 as it's cheaper than this and is number 3 on the poll.
    Best Budget Smartphone (Under $300) in 2020

      Why would anyone use a Chinese phone in the current political environment?

      In any case, the Samsung A20 (2nd position) is ahead of the OppShop phone (3rd position) and the A31 is a higher spec and newer phone than the A20.

      • You realise you're on Ozbargain right?

        See the comments for my thoughts on members voting for the A20.

        • Chinese government is collecting your data. This is something to consider when buying a phone.

              @bugsucher: Strange logic.

              So, one organisation makes a mistakes its nation the same as some nasty, corrupt government that will do almost anything to gain and keep wealth and power?

                @[Deactivated]: My point is you should have a lot more to worry about than a foreign government.
                I believe any normal Australian's life is affected by the wealthy and powerful organization(s) a lot more than by the government in discussion here.

            @[Deactivated]: Lol, And the NSA (America) is collecting that data. All just tit for tat………
            Google / Facebook all collect your data far more than Governments do, and they do more with that data than governments do. So you should be more scared of big corporations than governments.

            With Governments if you aint doing anything dodgy or illegal they dont really care about your data, where as Google / Facebook they analyse everything about your life.

              @lplau: Difference is:
              Snowden has proven to the world with evidence that NSA collects data for personal profiling purposes. No one gives a bat.
              China is bad because western governments say so with no substantial evidence given. Everyone freaks out.

              It's not about evidence, but about belief. 2020 has proven people don't give a toss about objective truths anymore - only what they want it to be.

      Samsung A31 has FHD AMOLED which is a rarity at this price.

      For $45 more I would take A31 as other specs are similar. P65 is similar to SD 665. Stock Camera experience is probably the same. This also has Widevine L1 making it a rather satisfying phone for media consumption.

    US has much more interest to collect your data.

      Not more. Just different as there are laws and expectations in liberal democracies that make companies' policies more ethical than those from places like China.

    I'm not seeing $299 even with the code.

    Joke of 2020. A31 sells at 499 aussie bucks

    • It's Samsung, so don't buy at MSRP. However at $299 this is quite competitive. 650 nits FHD Amoled screen, Widevine L1, decent stock camera (no Night mode though), 5000mAh battery, NFC Band 28 & 2 years local warranty. If you don't game much the Helio P65 is quite alright since it's a minor upgrade in terms of CPU over Helio P60/P70 whereas GPU is under clocked. This phone is really good for media consumption and general usage at this price.

      Apart from last gen, I don't think you can find such a decent Amoled screen at this price point. Even the Umidigi with Amoled screen cost more.

      Btw this stills show as available, did they just drop another lot?

  • Only if A51 at this price.
