  • I mean… impressive performance paired with impressive price, even after discounts. Welcome to the future :P

    Couple warnings here:
    1. The heatspreader on this is quite high and will foul on certain boards preventing you from using it under GPU's or chipset heatsinks.
    2. These have been known to have performance issues

And in general, you don't need PCIx4 performance as of yet. Real world tests you won't see a difference.

I only bring all this up as I was going to buy 2 x of these but ended up not doing it for the above reasons.

PCIe Gen 4, not x4, almost all M.2 drives are x4, even the Gen 3 drives.

Yeah sorry, I couldn't remember at the time if it was called gen or x lol. I know there are fundamental differences in the terms.

      Good info there.

The current state of PCIe Gen 4 SSD's in general seems to be a dumpster fire.
Irrespective of price, until Samsung start making PCIeGen4 SSD a mainstream item i wouldn't trust them.
Any existing units on the market either seem to no be fast enough to justify Gen4 speeds or if they exceed the bandwidth of 4x Gen3 lanes they seem to have other issues instead.

Not a Samsung fan, but their stuff seems to work pretty good.

  • I‘ve heard this had heat control issue
