ozbargain

Hi OzBargain,

We spent the last two years building a VPN with features we wanted to exist. We have now launched and we will be doing a once-off 15% discount for the OzBargain community. Due to us owning all of our own hardware ( even the routers ) our profit margins are lower than other VPN services. We will never do "Lifetime" packages or lock-in 3-year deals for $50. So if you're looking for a new service which is heavily secured, please take advantage of our 6 hour free trial ( we don't need payment ) and see what you think.

To use the coupon code, simply type it in the coupon/code field when purchasing a subscription. Please remember that you have 6 hours to test the service without payment details required. So please feel free to test the service :)

New Pricing With Coupon

$8.46 USD per month A$11.57

$45.67 USD per 6 months ( $7.61/mo ) A$10.41

$71.04 USD per 12 months ( $5.92/mo ) A$8.10

Note: We will not be repeating out 15% off offer. This is a limited time special.

Some of our unique features include;

Streaming Automation - Connect to the VPN region nearest to your location and still access content from overseas streaming services. We take away the need for you to jump around VPN regions. You can also set regions for specific streaming services. For example you can set your Netflix region independently - similar to how a smartDNS service works. This means no more searching for the "right" server to connect to. Just connect to the VPN and we take care of the rest.

Device Profiles - You can have up to 100. Each profile allows you to have unique settings for when you log in. For example, you can have one for your computer, another for your iPad, another for your partner, another for your child, etc.

Advanced Port Forwarding - You no longer need to keep track of IP addresses or configure your software to work with the VPN ports you are given. Just tell us which port to forward to and which device profile and it's done.

For example, if you set up a web server on your computer and enable port forwarding, regardless of which VPN server you ever connect to ( any server, any region ), to access your web server you would go to username-mydevice.oeck.me:portNumber - It stays the same :)

Also great for torrenting.

Ad, Malware, Social Network and Adult blocker - You can pick and choose which ( if any ) of the blockers you want enabled for each device profile. This allows you to turn on Adult blocking for children's devices but keep yours open. It is also very extensive and does a good job of blocking most ad, tracker and malware domains.

Custom filter - You can take the blockers even further by adding your own domain block-list on a per-device level. This gives you complete control over each and every device. This is very powerful and is easily built on.

Custom DNS - You can set your DNS on a per-device level. You can choose for the VPN to give you complete control to your DNS, or set your DNS and still allow the VPN to take control over certain domains in order for the channels and blocking to still work. This means you can even use your own DNS if you wanted to.

Automated server selection - When a user connects to a region they will always connect to a server with the most resources available. This completely removes the need to server-surf on the users end. They just connect to a region and they will be sure to jump on the server within that region that has the most resources available at that point in time.

All of our VPN servers run without ANY hard drives at all. We have gone to great lengths to make sure our users get the best service and the most secure one. As a VPN service - forgetting the bells and whistles - it is fast and secure with fantastic privacy.

Nice pickup. Thank you for pointing it out :)

USD$10 a month is a little on the pricy side, even down to USD$6.97 a month for a 12 month subscription.

      Hi psyren89,

I believe the price is fair for the service. Our profit margins are lower than traditional VPN services. However, all of the hardware is ours and we don't pack all of our customers in as few servers as possible like sardines. There is also a technical reason we can't even if we wanted to ( which we don't ). We believe this is the best way to be set up, even though it is expensive to do so.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

Also, do you support the Wireguard protocol?

    •

      Hi psyren89,

At the moment we are not running Wireguard as we very recently launched. We are working on implementing Wireguard though as it is the future for VPNs.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

Does this vpn support socks5 for proxy server within torrenting clients?

    •

      Hi storageguy,

We do have socks5 proxies on all of our regions, however you must be connected to the VPN in order to use them. If you are looking for it specifically for torrenting, I suggest you read this https://www.oeck.com/manual/guides/browser-based-kill-switch...

You can do the same thing within the torrent client.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

When do you expect to be fully based in Singapore and not Hong Kong?

    •

      Hi Roger Ramjet,

We are planning on it in early 2021. I would say 4 - 6 months. It isn't a small thing to do, but unfortunately we believe it is necessary as China will no doubt force privacy laws on to Hong Kong businesses. Luckily due to the size of the tech sector there, it will not be an overnight thing. It should take them 12 - 24 months to implement it with companies complying. It sucks for us as when we started working on Oeck Hong Kong was a great place to set up. I can't imagine what the citizens are going through.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

When connecting to your webpage the following error message appears:

An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later.

    •

      Hi ob1wan,

Unfortunately the DC in the Netherlands is facing issues. Due to on of our databases being located there ( even though we are node balancing ), it pulled the other databases offline too. We are bypassing the database in the Netherlands. We should be up and running in 10 minutes.

      Murphy's law. Damn.

We apologise for the inconvenience. It should be up and running very soon.

EDIT: Back up and running. Now we are seeing what is happening at the datacentre.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.
