Bonus Xbox 360 Valued at $249 with Asus Computer Purchases over $700

310

Drove past a Harvey Norman and had an ad saying the above deal, went home to confirm on their website.

Might be worth looking at if you in the market for a new laptop. Asus is quite decent as well.

And ebay still sells xboxes quite strongly currently, if you don't prefer to keep the console!

  • Now, the question is, are all their laptops priced at $250 above what you'd pay elsewhere?

Not in the market for a laptop (or xbox) so won't be scoping it out, but these HN sales always interest me and I'll be keeping watch.

I would stay away from HN as they often bump up prices before so-called "specials"…

As an example the Asus G74 cost $2999 at HN, while MLN/MSY (cant remember which) are selling the same for only $1999 - $1000 markup from HN.

True. HN seems not very honest these days. So dodgy are they. However their Bigbuys site does have some real deals.

    • Do a bit more research there are many G74 models with different specs AT DIFFERENT PRICE RANGES. There is no mark up what so ever they are just selling it at the retailers recommended price.

      • I bought my laptop last year from Harvey Norman for $799, the RRP was $899 but Harvey Norman's list price was $999. (Clive Peeters at the time was cheaper but their stock was missing)

  • I think you need to apply for the FLEXI RENT to get the xbox.

    • you are right iimech. here the fine print.

I think you might be mistaken.

"Bonus Xbox 360 Valued at $249 with Asus Computer Purchases Over $700" It does say purchases.

Also, I believe the second big chunk is just about flexi-rent. If you go to one of the non-eligable laptops, it still has flexirent in the T&C, just nothing about an Xbox.

Not sure though, but it looks that way to me.

I bought this from hardly normal a month ago for $996. Could buy 2 xbox's and a game with that.

    • So it seems they have increased their prices. Is this something that can be reported to the ACCC, this promotion is very misleading if this is the case

      • Well no, they have had it at this for a few weeks, Just pointing out for people to be wary.

      • Have fun reporting it and it being rejected when the laptop was at $996 it was a sale. They are selling it at the retail price they are doing nothing legally wrong.

        • If they did it the night before the sale started then they would be in trouble, but they mostly plan these things in advance.

    • Wouldn't HN have a price matching system which you can use with this deal? Can anyone confirm that who used to deal/work with them?

  • Damn near impossible to find a full specs sheet for this: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1256980853600/asus-ks…

If you can find a full one you are better googler then I, I did find SOME specs but not everything.

Best I could find on that exact model number. (K53SV-SX545V)

But if you look at this spec page, I assume the K53SV-SX545V model will have the best options of the lot as when comparing other specs it seems to be the top range model.

edit: Actually, it might not be the top spec'ed as I'm sure HN would've mentioned that it has a Blu-ray/DVD Combo drive rather than just a 'DVD Burner'. It's best to just go in store and ask or find out yourself if they have a demo model.

      • I found both those pages, both are pretty usless…
No clue wether it has 5400/7200 rpm HDD, Bluray, USB3.0… It looked like the best deal from harveys though

  • Holy McShizzle, I just bought an Asus U36D on Sunday and they start this a day after. Can I go back with a receipt and demand a lovely Xbox? :(

    • depends on how much you paid for it.currernt price is $1798 and i doubt you paid $1798 full price.

      • I paid $999 for it, as it was on the 50% off sale. I still want an Xbox, I feel severely ripped off. I'm going to sue them.

        • +1

sue them for 1 BRAZILLION DOLLERS

          mwah ha ha ha ha

        • +1

the people have to spend $1798 on this laptop to get a free xbox. you bought it for $999 .please get over it.having said that for $1798 HN should offer 4 free xbox's.|0|

        • Thanks for the getting over it advice, otherwise I was just about to sue them.

        • +1

why did you pay 999? it should have been 899? and also the u36sd is actually selling for 1398 at the moment so its still semi discounted!

I think we must do the same as their ads on tivi or radio: "Harvey Norman…. Go… AWAY". :-)
