Hot and fresh out the kitchen

          • @BargainJunkie: Wanna hear something wild about that song? R. Kelly wrote Ignition (Remix) before he wrote Ignition. Wacko. That’s why the versions are completely different, they’re totally different songs.

I think for the price, the Nintendo yearly sub for the games is fine, but (profanity) me, I'd pay double for that amount of games on N64 / Game Cube happily though.

Then again, even though the original DS could handle SNES games reeeeeasonably well on fan made emulators via flash carts, the only time they finally sold (a few) SNES games portably was on the New3DS line, so maybe by the third or forth Switch we might finally get Game Cube.

    • I don't own a switch but my daughter does

How much is it for the yearly sub?

      • +1

30 odd bucks, give or take. I don't personally subscribe bc I have a million emulation consoles, but it's around 35 I think for a year. You can get "family memberships" that allow up to 8 people to have it for 50/60, but if it's just for the one kiddo, probs get the single one.

        Edit: 30 a year for 1, 55 for the 8 pack https://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendo-switch/onlineservice/me…

And Ozbargain can count as a family, in case you were wondering… So check the classifieds wink wink nudge nudge

    • +1

Agreed. Given NES/SNES classics exist, and it is easy to add more games or find alternate ways to emulate them, we're really in need of N64 or better games… but unfortunatrely it looks like Nintendo will probably just sell them as limited run games.

I just don't get why they're so averse to it. The way they're doing it now, where (at least the majority) is all Nintendo games for the NES/SNES stuff, like when they've got the rights to it and you know they will always be available, it should be so easy. Stack up on stuff like Mario 64, Smash 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, Mario Kart 64, the console Pokemon games, etc. stuff that the rights will never have to worry about disappearing on. Throw up a bunch of those, and a handful of third party stuff. You charge me 20 bucks a year just for the Nintendo 64 stuff, if there's at least 20 games, I'm paying that happily. I'm not crazy and expecting impossible faves like Tony Hawk 2 and Spider-Man 2000 even.

GameCube maybe it's a bit big, they don't wanna deal with gig+ games, but like, N64 ROMs are tiny, there's no reason to not have them by now. It's the main reason I let my sub end. I was on it day one, and by the time my year was up they had only just announced the SNES games were coming, even though it was all but confirmed well earlier.

I can only assume it's either a cost issue (licensing?) or they are still working out their maximum monetisation strategy… sad that they took inspiration from the Disney vault though.

    Stickerbrush Symphony or fight me.

    • YAAAS

    • the whole soundtrack is lit. lava levels especially

The music in DKC2 is one of the catchiest in video game history!

  • Switch now has DKC2 and Rayman Legends, best 2D platformers ever.

  • +1

Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island & now Donkey Kong Country 2. My fave SNES platformers are both there now. As soon as I get too mad while playing either of them, I can just swap over to the other :')

  • Cool, I genuinely thought they'd given up on updating these.

  • The game S.C.A.T. is called "Action in New York" in PAL territories!

    • I guess the risk of being caught would add to the thrill.

  • DK Country 2 is my favourite. YES!!!

  • Just watched the video, the boss music of DK2 gave me anxiety.
