Still better off going with Linkt. The RMS one may no longer have a tag deposit (linkt doesn't have one as well) but they require a $40 min balance and a min $40 top up. With Linkt it's a $5 balance and $10 top up saving you upto $65 (and yes I would say it's a saving as you cant use that money it's just stuck there untill you close the account). Linkt have same features as RMS like m5 cashback + you get an extra 4c off fuel at shell (via their app) if you shop there.

Wow never knew that. If that's true then definitely time for a swap. Thanks for keeping us informed.

    • Linkt requires $20 initial funds so is half the eTAG one.

      • Initial funds are less of an issue as you can use it up, it's the min balance that is a scam at $40 with etoll. That money can never be used it's basically another tag deposit. Min top up is also an issue as if you don't use it much you can have $80 sitting there while with Linkt NSW account it's only $15

      • Does the M5 cashback still work with Linkt?

        • Think every toll in Australia works with every toll collector account (etoll, linkt etc.)

          • @megadeth: The cashback scheme is one where the NSW govt will refund your toll (but not the GST) for using the M5. Used to also include the M4 until they removed the tolls for the M4. M4 tolls are back now though but it's 'totally different' so no refund for the M4 anymore.

    • Thanks for this info!

    • What's with the downvotes? I don't get it.

Downvoted by Liberal OzBargainers who like paying tolls?

    • Now thats a tax.

  • Any free credits deal with Linkt?

  • Time to return still tags :) downside no online feature to do this have to call in

  • How do both linkt and etoll work when travelling interstate? For example, does purchasing a linkt tag in nsw work when you drive in melbourne?

    • Both work interstate

      • Thanks, Are there different rates or it’s the same for both linkt/etoll?

        • Same, tolls as per the operator of each road
