This has been Amazon's algorithm for a long time now. I don't think it's clear exactly how it works but I'm sure it's optimised to maximise sales/profit.
Seems to adjust based on demand and stock levels but also sometimes just tries out new prices to see what happens.
Once demand spikes and enough people purchase the algo will auto adjust price accordingly.
Bought one on last prime day sale for $26.21 delivered. It was an excellent steel mug and keep hot drink up to 24 hours. Will buy another one next month during prime day sale.
