  • Don't forget 3% gift card discount..

    • Which gift card is that?

      • +1

        suncorp rewards

      • +1

        Suncorp, like outlander mentioned.
So that makes it $78.43 (+delivery if no prime).

  • Thanks for this. Started looking for something to drive a small desktop CNC without risking dust getting sucked into my laptop

    • Is that directly, via something like Klipper, or using
a tool like Octoprint? I've done the latter with my 3d printer, assume a CNC would be similar?

      • +1

        Look up mpcnc đź‘Ť

        • That project looks wonderful.

  • Bit or a stretch ordering from the UK to save $10 to $20

    • +4

How much discount is needed to make it worthwhile?

      • Depends on the person I guess. I think with the current postage delays it makes it less appealing.

    • They're made in the UK and it's sold by Amazon so no issues with returns.

      • They're made in the UK …

contradicting all who outsourced their manufacturing to Asia, claiming that it’s unviable to manufacture in UK.
Consuming and disposing it does voraciously, but does Australia manufacture anything export worthy?

        • +4

Rode audio still manufactures the majority of their equipment in Sydney.

          … That's the only one I know of :-/

Must be a list somewhere of companies that manufacture locally?

          • @[Deactivated]: Wow, I didn’t know. I’m surprised it hasn’t been bought out by unfamiliar Chinese OEM - IP ransacked, brand poached, and Australian operation shuttered. Owners make a fortune and retire stress free.

          • @[Deactivated]: Cochlear
            Resmed

    • depends how urgently you need one …..i have a 4GB buy would buy an 8 GB on a killer deal and would wait for delivery.

if you need urgently, yes, buy local.

I must say I'm impressed with the ozbargain community. Say something not 100% positive and there isn't 1000 downvotes.

    • Well depends, delivery at this moment in Victoria is hit and miss. Ordering in Melbourne for delivery in Melbourne is not much better than ordering from UK.
A parcel ordered from Melbourne for delivery in metropolitan Melbourne took more than 2 weeks (same as my package from UK).

    Raspberry Pi, $25 PC……wait…….

    • +1

This was the last seen for pi3 (and in US$). Even the first 2gb pi 4 was only US$35.

    • Different price tiers was always part of the plan.

The original Raspberry Pi 1 had a US $25 model A and US $35 model B, with the Model B being released a many months before the model A.

They still sell a Model 3A+ for US $25 and a Model A+ US $20.

    • $12 more than amazon deal if you need it in a hurry, or if you don’t have prime.

      • -1

if you need it in a hurry

well… can't say that deliveries from Europe do either arrive in a timely manner nor even arrive…

guess that makes $92.40 look very affordable for an extra 15% with prime, or a mere +5% without prime.

        • +2

          Yep - This!

I'm still waiting on an order that shipped from the UK on the 29th July..

Makes $12 extra look kinda appealing

          • @GC67: From Amazon UK or other seller?

            • @gadget: Nope - Not Amazon at all - Flare Audio.

Having said that, I did have to wait 60 days recently for an Amazon UK order of a Moleskin Limited Edition Mario writing pad for my son…

Ordered 17th June - Finally arrived end of last month.

        • EDIT: not sure why I negged on simple calculus….

  • Can this be used as an Ubuntu Desktop computer with external monitors?

    • Yep. It's one of the default supported os. It can support 2 monitors

    • +2

It’ll run ubuntu with two monitors, but don’t expect it to be as smooth, capable or straightforward as using a standard x86 based computer for things like video playback.

  • It works out to be cheaper by another seller on Amazon $55 plus $11 delivery

    • I think your link is from Amazon US store, which is in USD.

      • +1

Sorry my bad , my skills of attention to details are long gone :-(

        • +2

no worries, probably you practise archery too much :D

    • AUD 100.49

  • Just asking; wouldn't this be a better deal :

    • +1

If you want all those things, then yes, I beleive so.

    • In the other threads some people were mentioning (complaining) about the fan being loud.
Anyway, it's up to you: if you do want all those things, and at the same time, then you can go for this.

    • I have a specific use case that is headless (DIY NAS), and have almost all the other components (power, micro SD etc) that makes a full kit overkill.

    • +1

Just realised Canakit is now being sold on Amazon AU. I think their quality is a bit better?
This kit doesn't have microSD which will save you $20, compares to their full kit. $136.15 + $11.55 Delivery
