Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700X | Gigabyte RTX 3080 10GB Gaming PCs: $1998 and $2188 after GIGA-3080-LAUNCH

Here's how allocation works:

  • Limited quantity of Gigabyte Eagle OC cards arriving in September (scheduled for next week)
  • Limited quantity of Gigabyte Gaming OC cards arriving in September (scheduled for next week)
  • More stock is arriving in October for both. Once the "September" cards in the Graphics Card section are marked as sold out on the website, you can purchase the October variants, and your system will ship as soon as they come in.

    • 45hz clock difference tested from factory. by looks alone it was worth it for me. eagle looks terrible imo

      • oh i i bought the eagle, should i change that :( sorry i have no knowledge of these

        • +2

No mate you'll be fine if you dont really mind aesthetics. performance will be very very minimal difference really. enjoy!

        • According to the Gigabyte site 4 years warranty for Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC instead of 3 years

        • I went with the eagle. The 45MHz for $100 isn't worth it for me. However, if you want an extra years warranty, then it might be. I won't be keeping the card longer than the next new Nvidia release so 4 years doesn't make any difference.

  • This deal is insane. You could sell the other parts and still end up a head if you just wanted the GPU.

  • @luketechfast does this mean the 2 series prices will come down a little?

    • +2

You mean 2070 Super and 2080 systems? Yes, they will. It's all been a bit hectic but we will be dropping prices on both. I'm not sure they would make an OzB deal-post worthy price, but the website prices will drop.

      • Thanks luke. I have recently shipped my 2060 system back to you guys under DOA and will be interested to see what my upgrade options are as my 2060 is faulty.

I would also like to express that your after sales support has been very impressive and I am pleasantly surprised by it. Ervin has been spectacular!

        • Thanks for the feedback, I'll pass it onto Ervin!

Wouldn't be an issue to look at another GPU for you - have you email the support guys with this request?

          • @luketechfast: Been emailing Ervin and he said u guys will need to check to see which component is faulty before we can move on to look at upgrade options. He suspects it could either be the GPU or PSU.

  • Ryzen gen 4 + 3080 combo pls (when its available Luke).

    • I'm just hedging my bets based on Luke's earlier comment about the bang for buck on the Ryzen 4. In 18 months I might feel inclined to upgrade the CPU if the prices are down, but sounds like release might not be that exciting. inb4 this comment ages poorly.

      • All good, i probably won't buy anything until November earliest - plenty of time to check reviews and benchmarks the gen 4 series along with the custom 3080s released by then.

  • happy to grab the base system without the GPU if anyone is selling theirs.

    • maybe if you are in sunshine coast

      • Sorry, in Sydney. Don't mind shipping you the graphics card and keeping the rest if you can change the delivery address to mine.

        Happy to facilitate payment security.

With the state borders, I don't think we can meet halfway.

  • insane insane insane

  • When will you get the stock? and delivery time?

  • When will this get delivered

  • Does the bundle come with Windows 10 OS?

    • +3

It's explained pretty clearly on the product page:

Windows 10 Home will be pre-installed on the system. To unlock the full features of Windows 10 Home, select the Activation upgrade below. You will be able to enter your own genuine Windows 10 Home key when you receive the system.

  • What's the quality of the supplied MSI MAG Forge 100R ATX Case like?

    • +8

I have one. It feels sturdy & heavy- the feet have non slip pads, and the alloy does not flex. The powder coating on the metal is nice and doesn't look like it'll scratch. The colour of the front fans is changed via a button press on the chassis, many different presets available. The case is MID size, if that matters. There is reasonable space inside but you may not be able to fit the hugest cpu coolers in there. There are 2 HDD bays hidden opposite the bottom mounted PSU- I managed to stick in 2 3.5mm fat hdds and a "freefloating" SSD (wouldn't recommend that but I guess you can do it). Airflow and filtration seems good, judging by the large amount of dust accumulating on the front & removable top mesh. The screen on the side is actual glass, feels reasonable quality.

      • Can't you change the fan lighting using software?

        • +2

I am pretty sure you can- it includes something called an aRGB controller and a bunch of wires, I just cbf with it because the default colours looked nice.

      • +1

        Thanks for that, great review!

        • +1

Really good case mate. especially value for money wise

  • Hey Luke, emailed you guys cos I bought the non-GPU option but didn't wanna miss out on the October cards either so should I buy this before my refund gets processed?

    • To be safe, yes. The sales inbox is clear but the support inbox is still busy. There will be no issues processing the refund of your no GPU system whatsoever.

  • Sorry for a silly question. Can you use WiFi on this ? so I basically just need to buy a monitor, speakers , keyboard and mouse separately and that’s it right? Thanks. (First time buying desktop computer)

    • Yes, either via a USB adapter or a PCIE network card which will fit under the GPU. We don't offer a PCIE network card at this stage.

  • Another question… is the Ryzen 5 3600 CPU still "good enough" these days for the latest games (and obviously going forward) as I'd be using the system for this more so than productivity apps.

Would I be losing out not going for the Ryzen 7 3700X upgrade or waiting for the 4000 series?

    • 4000 series is speculation only, but the 3600 is more than capable gaming wise with any current game.

      • Cheers Luke. How future proof is it though before it might start to have a negative impact on the system?

        • +3

Almost impossible to give a future timeline mate, being realistic. It's the current value king. There will come a time when more than 6c/12t is required, but it won't be the next 12 to 18 months

    • +1

It’s not going to struggle at 4K (more GPU intensive) but at 1080p you’ll feel the 3600.

      • Hang on you're saying the 3600 is fine for 4K but struggles with 1080p?!

        • Yes. Depending on the display quality the computer will shift the computing workload.
At 1080p, the CPU will mostly do the work. Hence the CPU bottlenecking.

At 4K, the GPU will most likely do the work. Hence no CPU bottlenecking.

So it worth considering which monitor/display quality you use when benchmarking.

          • @mangamuncher: How about for 1440p?

I still have my i5-2500k from 2011. Still holds up decently in 1080p!

Would i get the same mileage out of a 3600 at 1440p? (8+ years) (I don't like upgrading too often as you can tell)

            • @Lelouch216: The current thinking, being that both the new PS5 and XBOX are essentially PCs with a 3700x, the future of the industry is game engines designed around an 8 core CPU.
Personally I am waiting for the upcoming 4700x CPU.

if I was buying this, I would choose the 3600 and upgrade it in a year when the 4700x is cheaper

        • At higher resolution, you have lower framerates, as the bottleneck is the GPU. The CPU is not fully utilized, having a faster one has little benefits.
At lower resolution the GPU is not fully utilized, your framerate is higher, limited by the performance of the CPU. Essentially the CPU doesn't matter, once it is enough for 120fps (or whatever your monitor can display)

  • It is possible to get this without the case?

    • No sorry.

  • +1

Asking for the in-laws, will this be ok to run the 2020 Microsoft flight sim game?

    • +2

      Yes.

  • Hey Luke, I ordered a system but wanted to upgrade the motherboard (I've already sent an email to support), will this be ok?

    • +1

yep we'll get back Monday if we haven't already. Big day.

  • +4

please everyone remind me how much of a big stupid idiot i am for buying a 2080 super machine 4 weeks ago :-)

    • -4

      And I bet it’s not delivered yet…

      • +3

I got an express machine so it actually got shipped pretty fast but got lost by auspost for over a week until I found it up the street left at some randoms house lmao, im still an idiot though

      • +2

        lol.

    • depend on the price, other components and whom you purchased it from

      • I bought from Techfast, overall I'm happy with it and my old pc died so I was pretty desperate but I pretty much paid the same as these 3080 machines so bit of an oopsie not to wait longer.

        • hey its mitchy from ABBcord. its just fomo man, it will do 99% the same and likely every other component is better in your system.

          hope your well dude

    • +1

I got a Techast 2080 Super system during black Friday sales last year. I've gotten 100's of hours of gaming time out of it, and it's been great to have during the year of the Vic lock-downs; so not ragrets.

I'm also happy I opted for the X570 and 750W PSU, so should be all set when I upgrade to 3000 series in future :)

      • How much of a discount did u get on that build? I’m looking to buy this one but idk if i should wait for this years Black Friday techfast deals.

  • I am looking core i7 with 128GB RAM, rest of the config do not matter to me.Any advise and deals?

  • Hi Luke. I really hope this deal is legit! I have just bought a 3700x vers. It might be a bit late, but I didn't change the motherboard but I upgrade the ram to 32gb…. Would that be a problem?

  • This is such a great deal!!

I've managed to collect all but graphic card for the past 40 days, almost bought RX 5700 XT for AUD600, only to see this post is all I need!!

Even if I can manage the cheapest 3080 from PLE (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566682), then total would be well above ~$2500

Stupid me 🥴🥴🥴 should have wait for Luke

This is an awesome build. You really can't compare this to what's being offered here. If you modify the offering to reflect what you have here (except different brands, lower quality), you'd be looking at $2,850. If you find the card for $1,139, you'd end up with ~$2,600 and premium parts.

      • True, yeah, my idea was to have room for upgrading CPU later on, with overclocking potential 🤐👍

  • +1

Which is the better of the two cases?

Is it worth upgrading to the X570 if you don’t need wifi.

    • i dont know, i chose the MSI one, looks slightly better to me…

      • Slightly? Lol. Seems clear to me.

  • +1

I was hoping to buy local in WA, as easier for returns. But this deal was too good to pass up. Will be a great replacement for my current Alienware M15 with a 970m!

  • +1

If anyone planing for selling old system to get this new build, then please PM me. I am planing for my 2020 cheap build :(
Edit: I am based melbourne btw.

    • +2

      Sure :D

  • INSAAAAAAAANE!! Wife is keeping me leashed to get this!

  • Fork! So tempted.. If I buy this I might have to cancel my PS5 preorder. I'm not that much of a gamer to be shelling out this kinda money for both :(

  • Wish I had a spare 2K lying around… :(

  • I bought one but chose the default B550 motherboard, does it mean I don’t have WiFi? How do I use the computer with WiFi ? Anyone teach me pls

    • +1

Buy a wifi card! They connect into the same slots your GPU does (your motherboard has plenty). I use the ASUS PCE-AC88, I bought it like 3 years ago so no idea if there’s a more up to date version but it provides me with lag free gaming from the other side of my house.

You can always get a cheaper one for just browsing or even a USB dongle that’ll connect to Wifi.

      • thank you,its been very helpful, but is it better to buy a wifi card or upgrade the motherboard? I can see there is an option to upgrade the motherboard with wifi and pay $199

        • +1

          Buy a powerline adapter instead.
My partner purchased one and is getting the exact same consistency with speeds and latency as I do and I am directly under my router.

Here is the one we purchased from office works. SO worth it.

          https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/tp-link-av…

        • I’ve got no experience with the power line adaptors mentioned above but have heard good things. Personally I’d be going with the Wifi card myself, the Wifi motherboards normally have really small antennas, but I’d try and find some reviews before making the decision.

  • Omg ! You guys/girls have done it again!

  • Anyone in Perth want to buy the set of RAM sticks it comes with from me? I’ve already got RAM to put in.

  • 3080 is out of my budget, will you set up some deal with 3070 next month?

    • yep

  • Is 750w enough to run the system? Much headroom if we add more hard drives?

    • +2

Easily. NVIDIA are recommending 750W but the recommendatoon generally far exceeds the actual requirement to allow for unrated PSUs etc. Linus Tech Tips had a 3080 drawing 350W under heavy load. Adding drives will barely change ovrrall draw.

  • The MSI case got two fans in the front. The other case got 3 fans. Which is better?

    • +1

less bigger fans are better than more smaller ones

    • +2

MSI 1000%. Leaper case is budget of a budget.

  • Pretty tempting to order 5, keep one and make about $20k selling the test to desperados on eBay

  • Price has risen.
Got one at $2195. So sad I didn't check in the morning.

    • Did you put the code in ?

      • Yes, they have a code on website to save $100.
It was originally $2295 before I applied the $100 discount.

      • +1

dammit didnt realize i should put code on OZbargin

        • Is there another code besides the "GIGA-3080-LAUNCH" one? What is it?

          • @Lelouch216: There is one on their website which saves you $100. Code on OZbargin is better tho

            • @Floria: Email them..

            • @Floria: PM Luke he will sort you out. You'll see him in the comments here. I ordered the system before the deal was posts and he refunded the difference.

  • Hi Luke, already bought the PC this morning, now I am not sure if I should upgrade to the WiFi motherboard or not. Please advise. I don’t even know how to insert a PCIE WiFi card myself :(

    • +2

You can just buy a USB wifi adapter. Does the job just fine

      • yea sure I will not stress anymore and just buy a usb adapter then , thanks

        • Yeah, just search for something like Edimax on Amazon.
          https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=edimax&ref=nb_sb_noss

They're pretty reliable, give you good speeds, and are basically plug in and go. It's essentially as easy as plugging in a mouse and keyboard, you just need to find your Wifi off your desktop.

  • Great deal. Might be a noob questions but windows 10 operating system isn't included in this deal.

    1. How would you even install windows 10 on this pc with no disk drive if you include it in the package?

    2. Is it even worth into buying an official operating system these days or can you get it by….other means that work with no disk drive?
