3731
GIGA-3080-LAUNCH

Party like it's 1995! Kicking off RTX 3080 season with high spec systems through our partnership with Gigabyte, starting at $1998 with the Ryzen 5 3600.

Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700X | Gigabyte RTX 3080 10GB Gaming PCs: $1998 and $2188 after GIGA-3080-LAUNCH

Here's how allocation works:

  • Limited quantity of Gigabyte Eagle OC cards arriving in September (scheduled for next week)
  • Limited quantity of Gigabyte Gaming OC cards arriving in September (scheduled for next week)
  • More stock is arriving in October for both. Once the "September" cards in the Graphics Card section are marked as sold out on the website, you can purchase the October variants, and your system will ship as soon as they come in.

It is strictly first come, best dressed, no holdsies.

Godspeed.

We're working on more. Will probably post up a new deal to clarify expected delivery dates etc.

      • Look forward to it!

        • +1

          November allocation added now.

  • +4

With the amount of interest in this deal and also thread it looks like it'll help set the benchmark for what people can expect in terms of PC build quality, delivery times and service from Techfast.

  • Pulled the trigger last night. Can't wait!! Is there any indication as to what brand AIO cooler we could be getting? I'd be stoked if it was an MSI AIO to go along with the MSI case and GPU :)

    • Is this for 120mm or 240mm. Would like to know as well the model they use.

      • I believe at least for the moment they are using Deepcool Gammax 120mm AIO liquid coolers.

      • I opted for the 240mm AIO. Would be keen to know which brand(s) we could be getting :)

  • +8

Any of the September cards arrive or looking like next week?

    • +8

      It has begun, yes.

      • Good to hear. Maybe I'll get my order next week :).

      • awesome news!

      • Good news! Are pick up orders likely to begin this week for September allocation?

        • +2

Potentially. Can't give out individual updates though or nothing will get done!

  • Looks the september and october graphic cards are out of stock. Would you be doing another for november?

    • +2

      November added now!

  • sends up luketechfast symbol into the sky
Luuuuuuuuuke….. how are we looking for this week?

    -edit - it begins!!!

    • +4

I'm not sure how many more times I can refresh this thread and my email inbox….

      • Right? the suspense!

      • +1

It really is a game of “will I be phoning Lifeline at 5:01pm” at this point

        • Hold the phone… it'll be another 4-5 days even after shipment until you receive the machine. You got this!!

      • Guess it's going to be next week now :(

        • Yep Luke's comments in the latest 3090 thread advises there's not even a guarantee for September dispatch…

          • @Hinee: I bought this deal ~1 hour after it was posted and live in Adelaide so have arranged for local pick up. I was hopeful that I would be able to pick it up before the weekend but looks like it'll be early next week at best.

            • +3

@3rdEarth: I bought within 20 minutes unassembled and mine hasn't shipped.

              • +2

@Vita85: Wonder if they dispatch on weekends

  • Will there be a similar priced deal with the next gen AMD CPUs in a couple of months, or even early next year?

  • Hi Luke
Would you guys be able to get your hands on any Aorus 3080's for future builds(when they get released if they aren't already)?
    Thanks

    • +2

Potentially, with the applicable price rise. Gut feel says wider OzB community doesn't feel higher tier cards represent value with the cost increase that has to come with it.

What are Techfast views on the fact 3080 cards with cheaper hardware are causing crashes. It looks like gigabyte is an offender based on below video and we customers can all expect power delivery issues once we push the cards to the limit..BIG CONCERN

    https://youtu.be/x6bUUEEe-X8

    https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/geforce-rtx-3080-users-rep…

(Just search 3080 crashes on Google for more info)

Seriously considering cancelling order due to these Gigabyte cards being shipped faulty from manufacturer with the cheaper poscaps.

Will you allow us to cancel without any "restocking" fee. Otherwise you are knowingly selling faulty systems now that is brought to your attention or putting us through an unnecessary RMA process. Or can you provide an alternative branded card that uses the correct hardware.

Curious on your thoughts how to handle this situation .

    • Just finished watching the video. Happy that I didn’t buy from fomo.

    • +3

Yikes gigabyte worst offender, wonder how much of a down clock they’ll require to achieve stability…

      Not good news

EDIT: based on whirlpool forum discussion board looks like gigabyte cards don’t have as many issues as other manufacturers.

    • +1

Seriously considering cancelling our order too and waiting for a different GPU. I thought Gigabyte and the other AIBs would have to test these cards properly… The Founders Edition was cheaper and had better parts.

    • Surely if there are issues down the track the manufacturer will have to recall and replace? Right?

      • No it's for boost. The cards will run fine at stock clocks which is all that's guaranteed. A Vbios update will lower the boost clock to prevent crashes. And I'm not saying I like it, but that's the reality. It won't be considered a hardware fault if stable at stock clocks.

        • +1

So in the case of the gigabyte OC gaming card the core clock is 1800mhz it will be stable at that.

I’m not into overclocking so I should be ok with one of these cards.

          https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3095238&p=1

Interesting to note that EVGA were aware of the issue and revised their card for mass production. But have said that some reviewers cards suffer from the power delivery issue, hopefully other manufacturers have done similar.

          • @creesy: Colorful was also aware. I'm hoping someone as big as Gigabyte was as well.

            • +2

@Vita85: Haven’t seen a lot of reports of problems with the gigabyte cards. Most seem to be about zotac and EVGA cards

    • +3

      +1 to this.

I would also like to know if we're able to cancel our orders without the 25% re-stocking fee, since most (if not all) of us are waiting for Oct & Nov 3080 stock anyway, so technically speaking, our PC's haven't been assembled/built yet.

    • Out of the 6 components on the back plate, it looks like only the founder's edition has 2 'good' components + 4 'cheap' ones, and people haven't reported any FE crashing so far. The card jay showed in the video looks like gigabyte gaming oc, and it has all 6 cheap poscaps…

Even though it seems MSI trio and asus tuf met the 2 good+4 cheap requirement, it's been shown that those manufacturers only send those 'good' ones to reviewers. The ones people purchase from retailers are likely to have all 6 cheap ones… very dodgy imo…

I guess the best option for the people that are 'lucky' enough to miss out the first wave of cards, is to either get the founder's edition, or wait for manufacturers to switch to the 2 good + 4 cheap combo. As for techfast systems, my guess is the october cards 'might' still be fine…cause i bet they still haven't manufactured them yet. The september ones might be tricky…

As of this morning, NVIDIA have released a new driver that deals with the instability issues with these cards. This is in line with how we expected the situation to be handled globally. We have shipped some systems already and highly recommend customers update their drivers from the NVIDIA website upon receiving them - we will contact those customers individually. All systems currently in build will have the latest drivers installed, while systems that previously passed testing will now have the new drivers reinstalled and be stress tested again. So if yours hasn't shipped yet, hang in there - we are working through it.

The use of the term cheap/bad POSCAPS/capacitors should be avoided. As per NVIDIA's statement, the use of one, or the other, or a mixture of the POSCAPS is relevant to the card's internal setup, the full details of which the enthusiast market, as good an investigative job as they appear to have done in trying to find out what's happening, is just not fully privy to. One type does not = good and one type does not = bad.

Note that the issues seem to be nearly entirely linked to cards under OC conditions, which is not a warrantable fault under manufacturer warranty. When OCing using third party software and experiencing instability, it is the end user's responsibility to wind back the OC until it is stable. As it stands, there is no hardware fault in RTX 3080s. If any hardware fault is found, it will be fully covered by warranty.

I wouldn't be cancelling my order if I had one, put it that way.

      • Thanks Luke, your response is a lot more thorough and encouraging than NVIDIA's short response today.

      • +1

Appreciate the response and hopefully the driver issue is the solution for the issue.

With regards to assembly and shipment of september card order sales. Do you think they will all be assembled and shipped by end of this week?

  • +5

With all these people wanting to pull out I might get that September system I wanted.

    Love over reactions

    • Exactly, no one actually knows the problem.

  • +1

Is anyone else like me searching the internet all day awaiting for an official response from Nvidia and Gigabyte about the 3080 crash issue? However, they are being too quiet on this, really want to know what is going on.

    • Yup but given this started getting traction on Friday/Saturday for these companies, they're unlikely to rush out a response.

I've done some reading and haven't seen any reported issues with the Gigabyte cards. Yet mixed cards like EVGA and all MLCC cards (the more expensive component) like the Asus TUF are seeing crashing issues, so don't think it's as simple as 'cheaper component = bad and more expensive component = good'. There's some other issue, hopefully just driver-related.

      • +1

I am a bit worry about the September orders as they are the first batch of 3080 and hopefully it’s not a hardware related fault and just a software bug..let’s see

    • +1

Lol same, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't the issue only occur when it's being pushed to its limit in boost clock? I'm not looking to OC so I'd imagine it wouldn't be an issue for general users?

      • +2

You're correct. I recommend to anyone that is worried about this to watch https://youtu.be/GPFKS8jNNh0 if you have some free time. Essentially, if the cards are OC to higher than stock frequencies with weaker capacitor configurations, then you can expect some instability.

    • As an update to this, NVIDIA have released a new driver that they suggest fixes the problem. From research it seems this new driver will automatically reduce the clockspeed on your video card to keep it stable. Bad news for anyone who bought into the 3080 and wanted to overclock their card as even the original stock speeds have proven to be unstable.

  • Well we are almost at the end of September now. Anyone got their PC yet?

    • Nope..not even a sign of life yet from Techfast regards to shipping. With the lack of reply from Techfast on above video card issue( I know it's weekend but generally they do post but will give benefit of doubt till Monday) im weighing my options before this turns to a drama for me and loss in money and time.

Is credit card charge back an option if Techfast reply is insufficient and passing the buck?

      • +3

I wouldn't be too worried, it's been 9 days since the deal was posted and their typical build time takes around 14 days. Plus they're probably all hands on deck right now assembling systems. Like Luke said, the more individual updates they provide the more it slows the process down.
As for the credit card refund, I have done that before with no hassle, just send an email to them.

        • @okei pokie: Thanks for the info regarding cc refund. I'm assuming you weren't charged the 25% re-stocking fee? That's the only thing holding me back from emailing them requesting a refund :)

      • +2

Charge back? LOL, jumping the gun much?

Dude it's a weekend and the "issue" came up fri/sat

    Hey LUKE !!!!!

I placed an order for the NOVEMBER stock :)))))

May I know ROUGHLY when I will get it???

    CHEERS LUKE You de BEAST!!!

    • +5

        End November???

        Lol understand the question :))

        • -1

BTW Creesy have you bought a PC?? Did you receive it yet??

          • +2

@Fyerr: I purchased an October build. I’m expecting that delivery Will most likely be the last week in October.

I don’t think anyone has received their build yet

            • -4

              @creesy: Dammmmm luckkkyyyy

              • +1

@Fyerr: How about this I purchased a September Build - I believe they got some cards last week and are building and testing them now. I am hoping it gets sent this week. Don't know when cards are being delivered until they are there. Delays with suppliers, couriers and pandemic as well makes everything uncertain and Luke isn't commit to something with unrealistic expectations.

                • -1

@Jazza2400: Heyy thats fine byyy meee.

I have the November Build and I expect to get it maybe mid November so noooo problemo there :))

  • -4

    Hey @luketechfast
Guys when is the last day to cancle my order, I ordered it 3-4 days ago????

    • +1

I am sorryyy this came out wrong!! I am keeping the order 100% I just needed to know the last date, just in case anything went wrong in that time!! Im sorry if that was mean I love TechFast and what they are doing and I really appreciate it that I can get this deal please don't get me wrong folks!!

  • So real talk. How many of you are actually considering or going to cancel your order owing to the issues that have come up?

    • Keeping the order, small downclock/undervolt seems to solve the issue with a minimal performance deficit. Appears that staying <2Ghz solves the crashing issues experienced.

Will take the chances as I’m in the line for a September card as I don’t think they will roll out any massive hardware update in the near future to address the so-called capacitor issue when they’re already in the process of manufacturing, shipping to distributors and retail sales.

Price is right for the system as a whole if Techfast can deliver within a reasonable timeframe.

    • Keeping it - if the 3080 is anything different to the description provided by Nvidia it'll go to the ACCC if they don't replace faulty cards. Will just go through Gigabyte/Techfast to get them replaced - if it becomes faulty. From what I read it was picked up by EVGA while testing and caused a delay in supply - I assumed because they required replacement cards but I could be wrong?

      • keeping it, still dont know if its actual hardware which is the cause of these crashes

  • +8

For everyone worrying about the 3080 Eagle or Gaming OC that comes with this pc here's a link: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/j094bs/buildzoid_gi…

I have seen some reports on reddit that the Gaming OC crashes when it goes over 2000mhz. I have seen ZERO reports of the 3080 Eagle crashing for anyone.

The Gaming OC still seems to crash less compared to other AIB's though, which is good for you guys. I ordered the Eagle so I have my fingers crossed.

People mentioning a simple -50mhz underclock solves the issue.

tl;dr Both of Gigabyte's 3080 cards seem to crash significantly less than other AIB's due to having Panasonic 470 SP-CAPS, not 370 PostCAPs. Better quality.

    • For my situation, even IF the source of these problems are hardware related and I have to under clock my 3080. it's still much better performance than what I currently have, and the deal from techfast is still great value. Different people's mileage/experiences may vary though.

  • 9700 clicks…wow!!! TechFast is going to have their hands full for the whole year.

    • +3

80% are people coming back to check if someone had a shipping confirmation

  • +2

Has anyone received any updates regarding our orders yet? Please kindly share, thanks

    • +5

Yes, mine has shipped as of 2 minutes ago.

      • +1

Oh great news! Fingers and toes are crossed.

    • Ours just shipped! :D Ordered about 90 minutes after the deal was posted. We'll see how it goes getting to Victoria…

      • Hopefully arrives to you soon! Ordered mine in around the same timeframe for pick up but still no contact re-pick up yet

  • +6

Mine has shipped, got tracking number.

    • +1

      +1

    • How long after the deal posted did you order?

      • -1

        1hr 20 mins? Unassembled

        • Ordered ~1 hour assembled for pick up, hopefully today

        • WTF, I was less than 20 minutes unassembled.

          • +1

@Vita85: same and hasn't been posted yet

            • +1

              @gorge: First come, last served

      • ~ 1 hour, assembled, eagle/3700x

      • +2

I was 1hr4mins after posting with order no ending in 2631 and don't have shipping notification.

        • +1

Doesn't it go in order in the queue? Am I missing something?

        • Weird, my order was also ending in 2631

          • @FrancisH98: Mine as well. Must be the middle part of the order number that changes

      • 10 mins before deal was posted, tracking number issued yesterday as well.

        • Anyone order a gaming pc (as opposed to eagle) and have theirs showed yet?

          • @p78p: Gaming OC GPU*
