I'm liking this deal, great price for a Ryzen 7 4700u Zenbook.

What deal do you think its better?

      Your one or a Vostro 5490 I7-1051U, 8gb Ram, 1TB SSD for $859?

      • +2

You're getting better value with the Vostro for sure.. and if that RAM is upgradable, it's a no brainer if you're not after ultra portabability which is where the Zenbook shines.. it's a premium feel/quality laptop, and you pay extra for it.

The Vostro has a dedicated Nvidia GPU as well, so will probably outperform the Ryzen Zenbook in the graphics department which has AMD Vega Integrated graphics, which is no slouch for integrated graphics, but won't be as good as the MX250.

CPU wise, the Ryzen 7 will outperform the Intel 10510U by maybe 15-20% across most workloads.

Really comes down to what you need a laptop for and how much you're willing to pay.

        • Thank you, your comment is much appreciated.

Yes, the ram is upgradable and I'm going to purchase an extra 8gb stick to make it 16gb ram

I'll be running financial modelling spreadsheets. 15% - 20% is pretty significant :(

          Cheers.

      • Where is the Vostro for sale?

      • Can you please share the link for this deal?? Cheers

I really wish laptops stopped including only 8GB of RAM, especially considering how much potential the 4700U has :/

      • ^^this, 8gb ram is useless

        • Are you sure?

I find it most useful, and more than sufficient on both my lappy and desktop.

          • @jackspratt: I hook my current 8gb laptop up with dual screen monitors and that alone takes 50% ram

Once I fire up youtube on chrome my ram goes to 60-70% my cpu usage starts to go to constant 100%

            • @Homr: So it's "useless" for you.

There's plenty of people out there who don't use 2 monitors with their laptop, and for who 8GB is plenty.

That's why the manufacturers only include that much RAM I imagine.

Your 3080 is too much more expensive than others

    • After we sold out our initial batch we adjusted the price up to reflect those set by other competitors in Queensland. This increase was due to the uncertainty around foreign exchange and future price changes from our vendors.

Now that those concerns have been resolved, all of our RTX 3080 pricing has been reverted to RRP. With our policy of matching our own price drops, any customers who ordered are covered and will be receiving the lower price.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding around the matter.

If the listed laptops were $300 cheaper then IMO they would be good deals, at these prices I fail to see how they are good deals, let alone bargains

  • I won't buy ausu laptop again,I bought a ux391 last year,it had already been sent for repair 2 times and replaced 2 motherboards and 1 touchpad.

  • It's coming up as $2099, not $1999 as indicated in the deal.

Gee, wonder what that blue tag at the top of the post says …

      • Ah oops, apologies. My bad. It's been a long day

    • don't know why the neg vote, everyone makes mistakes.
