Great price thanks, I've had a couple of these - 5.1ghz easy and can be cooled by any decent air cooler.

    • What voltage are you running for 5.1 on air?

  • This would be the sweet spot of performance/cores to price in the intel range

This is a great buy for anyone after a 10th gen CPU and are gamers at heart. I would suggest this is a better deal than any 9th gen CPU's that can be had for decent discounts as it will put you on the new 1200 socket, allowing for future upgrades if you are already getting a new motherboard too.

For anyone playing online games like me, this will last quite a few years, especially when paired with the new 3000 series GPU's from Nvidia. If you are thinking about the i7-10700K i would urge you to reconsider your need for it, 6C/12T is more than enough for all games out now, and definitely for the next few years, that extra money for the i7 will probably net you only a couple of FPS. If you are gaming on anything above 1080p you will notice almost zero difference between the two as the GPU is doing the legwork.

See here for FPS comparisons of the 10600K and the 10700K and ask yourself is the price justified: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-10700K-v…

Put the left over coin into a decent cooler like Noctua instead or a better motherboard.

    • I was looking at the 10700KF since it is 8C/16T which is the same as Ps5/Series X and presume game development would be based off that in future given the console influence. I don't upgrade often (running a 4690k and 4C/4T which is quite limiting now, regret not going with the 4790k with 4C/8T) so for the extra $100ish I figure 10700KF would be a safer bet.

      • Yeah but they are both running AMD chips, look at any benchmark in the decktop world, and core for core, intel smashes AMD when it comes to game performance. a 10600K is significantly better at gaming than a threadripper. I would expect consoles to be no different.

However, this is only for people who are budget limited. Of course, no budget - 10700K for further future proofing, but right now, and I would gather for 2-3 years, you'll see no difference.
