you didn't do any reading did you? Telstra is the exclusive MS partner in Aus. doing the monthly payment plan.. you do not lease/buy it from MS direct.

      • -2

That's not correct. Microsoft does also sell it themselves: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/xbox-series-x/8wj714n3rbtl…

The difference is that All Access is very slightly cheaper including the 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

      • Not sure what you mean, they both offer the same payment plan but going thru Telstra you need to have a post paid account. Wouldn't it be better for those not with Telstra to just go direct thru MS?

    • Pretty sure the Xbox direct deal is through Telstra as well right? May as well go through Telstra and get the points (which admittedly aren’t worth that much).

      • If I was to do it, then yes, I'd go thru Telstra as I already have an account with them but there seemed to be a lot of people commenting that aren't with Telstra so it's probably better to go direct thru MS than mucking around getting a post paid account with Telstra just for the 30k points?

  • I'm not buying until Halo Infinite drops

  • +3

Microsoft just bought Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks for $7.5bn cash. The competition is heating up for the next gen!

    • Wait for the news…..xbox series x new exclusives coming soon.

      Doom x , fallout x, elderscrolls x, wolfenstein x..and etc

Now all they just need are to acquire Sega , Software, Capcom, Platinum games, Square Enix and .bungie.

      • umm they did own Bungie.. don't know if they sold it again later though.

        • They released the company but kept the IP.

Bungie wanted to be independent but then immediately signed a deal with Activision for Destiny.

When that turned sour Bungie decided to be independent again.

      • Even if they don't allow future games to play on playstation, you can still play on PC.

When does Telstra start charging you for the xbox?
From the time of order, or from the time of shipping?

    • Neither, apparently.

Then once it's delivered, enjoy low monthly payments for 24 months on your Telstra bill.

    • From the time of order

What? 2 months early? Why would you even think this?

  • I'm still struggling to see why you wouldn't just buy this outright for $749 and get GPU significantly less than RRP, for an overall lower price than $1,104 (total amount over 24m 'lease' period).

    • +2

Why do some people prefer monthly insurance payments even though they can sometimes save large amounts paying annually?

      • No idea, why?

        • +4

Not everyone can lay down that much cash at once.

          • +1

@ScruffTheJanitor: That's a good point. Paying RRP through a payment plan is pretty decent if you can't afford standalone prices.

Makes a little more sense to me now.

            It's a shame it's only through Telstra.

    • +3

It works out slightly cheaper and I am already forking out for game pass ultimate. An extra 30 bucks a month isn't something I am going to notice.

The bad thing about this deal is you have to be a Telstra customer.

    • How do you get 24 months of GPU for significantly less than RRP?

      • I got 2 years and 3 months for around 100 bucks. Deals are posted here all the time.

Basically you buy cheap 12m LIVE subscriptions intended for Brazil. $45ish usually. Bonus month for setting up auto renew. Stack however much you want. Although cant go beyond 3 years. Then buy a month of Game Pass Ultimate to convert it all to GPU.

        • +3

I think people have said this loophole is closing, supposedly before series X launch, but yeah sounds like a good at the moment.

    • +2

The $1104 includes 24m game pass ultimate

    • Taking a gamble here that GPU RRP will increase over the next two years, so I'll subscribe to this deal and "fix" my price.

Suspect the oversea pricing loophole will remain unpatched, but that's also a risk of it doesn't extend current subscription

  • +4

Game Pass now includes Bethesda games day 1.

Microsoft now owns Fallout & Obsidian, I wonder if we will get our Fallout 4: New Vegas.

  • +3

Its a saving of approximately $30 over 2 years.
Game pass ultimate is $15.95/ month
    And console is $749.
    =1131.8 -1104 = saving of $27.80
I don't think its worth it if that is the only saving you will get. Better to wait for deals on game pass ultimate
Only works out better if you want the points.

    • plus telstra points which is of some value.

      • +4

You get 30, 000 points for series X.

An extra xbox controller is 27,000 points.

      • I mentioned that in the last sentence

    • +3

Plus you don't need to fork out upfront, if that's how you like to roll, it's like an extended afterpay.

  • Wonder if Telstra employee discount applies .. will get 25% off the monthly rate.

    • +5

      It does.

      • +1

        Now thats a deal

      • What about corporate discount? 15% is better than nothing 🙏🏽

      • Can confirm. I was wondering if we can cancel the contract after a month. Will the ETC also be given the staff discount? Nice way to get a nice discount on just the console and just pay a month of game pass ultimate fee.

        • Nope, staff discount doesn't apply to etc

  • +2

Any details about cancelling the plan?

I would like to get it with Telstra for availability, the 30K points and to test Xbox unlimited for a couple of months.

If the Xbox pass is not worth it, I would like to cancel the plan and just pay the remaining for the console. Is this possible?

Are there any hidden cancellation fees?

    • More details if you look at the current xbox one x they offer, so I assume the details will be basically the same.
      https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

"if you cancel your monthly subscription within the first 24 months, you will need to pay out the remainder of your Xbox as a once-off payment on your next bill. After cancellation, your Game Pass Ultimate balance will be updated within 8 weeks."

  • Grabbing the X. Btw Microsoft just acquired Bethesda …

  • +1

Hmm, don't see the new controller up anywhere yet.

  • Hmm which page will be the sign up page? When you go to that link it asks you to sign in and when you to it takes you to my account…

    • +1

Buy links will appear at 8am on that page below each of the consoles.

  • -2

Already got the Xbox One X in March, wonder if they will free upgrade?

    • +6

Not a chance in the world

    • +3

      LOL

    • +1

The old faq mentioned something about an offer after the x was released.

      • +1

Yes I recall this same FAQ at the time when I ordered it but can't see any information now about it.

        • It will be something along the lines of, yes of course you can upgrade, just pay out the remaining payments of your Xbox devices, and sign up to a new one…

  • +1

I just ordered through Telstra after it went live. I got in to their first delivery pool and it estimates the first stock to dispatch on November 9th so seeing as I'm in WA I'd imagine I'll get it around November 16th which is still better than nothing!

  • +2

    In wave 1 pre-order.

    • +1

      Wave 2 - December 9th.

  • +3

Well it's saying I dont have an active post paid telstra account which is BS. Oh well.

    • Yeah same. odd

    • +1

      same for me too

      • Same problem here this morning, then ordered through Telstra shop. Seems the issue was caused by the prepaid sim under my account

      • -1

cuz ur contract expired and ur on month to month

        • "You already have a month-to-month mobile or fixed broadband plan"
Still doesn't add up but good guess

          • @huey: I’ve been on Telstra cable for 8 years and I got the same error because I’m not in my 2 year contract anymore. Ie not locked in. Same situation ?

  • +4

Man .. time it took me to get my license as I was not expecting that since was already a Telstra account holder got wave 2 instead of Wave 1

    • Actually since this will be kids xmas present will work out better as long as it actually arrives before xmas

  • How come it shows $34/month for Series X here? https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

    • Because that's not the Series X

    • -1

no that "Series One X" older model

    • That is for the old Xbox One X that came out a few years ago. The new Xbox is the Xbox Series X. It's a pretty confusing naming scheme to be honest.

    • edit: beaten

  • +1

    Wave one, Nice

    • +2

Same here. Ordered an S from here for one of my kids. And one directly from MS for the other.

Will get myself an X from Amazon once available. That's their big xmas gift sorted.

  • Where are people seeing what wave they are in?

    • +3

The confirmation email from Telstra gives your wave number, and an estimated delivery date

    • Also it says what wave when you go to purchase

  • +2

Got the X, wave 2. Confirmation email says estimated shipment from December 9th.

  • Wave 1!

  • Does game pass ultimate give you access to all brand new games?

    • +1

No, just very small number of studios that are owned by Microsoft, though they are expanding

    • +1

Includes all new Microsoft and EA Games. Microsoft ownes quite a lot of smaller and larger studios, including now Bethesda, so fallout/elder scrolls etc.

It had a lot of recent-ish and older non-microsoft/ EA Games too.

It's basically like Netflix, you'll get all Netflix originals day one, plus a lot of older titles, but new non-netflix films/tv won't be on it till a year or more, and most titles never make it on there at all.

      • does it also give you PC gaming too?? im actually interested in MS flight sim 2020 .. and theres no mention of an xbox release for that?

        • +2

          yes it does

  • Unfortunately Telstra foxtel accounts aren't eligible…bleh. Guess I'll just pay in full.

  • Do you think you can sell the ultimate pass?
Mine is valid to end of 2022 so not sure I'd need it for now, id sell if I can get Rrp for it 😂

    • In the CIS, it says if you terminate your contract early, your GPU will be readjusted.

So reading between the line, if you could resell, you could screw the buyers royally.

    • I'm a bit late but, you can't, well not easily.

Microsoft changed the way bundled stuff works now. You no longer get a code, it's built into the Xbox instead. When you sign in it asks if you want to redeem the code now or later. You could still theoretically sell the Game Pass to someone, but they'd need to sign into your Xbox to redeem it.

      • So… Guess Ill wait to 12 months left then use the code for another 2 years…. Guess I'll have the pass for 4 more years… Yikes, that's an investment now

  • ordered wave 2. can i cancel the preorder if i got the console from other places earlier?

    • I'm on customer chat to ask now, as I'm in the dame boat as I have existing game pass.

    • +1

You may cancel it 7 days before delivery

      • how'd you find that?

  • Got Wave 2. Was in queue for wave 1 but hesitated because the residential address was incorrect on my account.

    • +1

Same, was hesitant but ordered and got wave 2, also got a pre order from JB, but their allocation and delivery dates aren't convincing, worst case I have an Xbox that I pay off over 2 years.

  • -7

I was able to pre-order 4 Xbox Series X this morning (from different retailers), was hoping to get 7. :(

I got 1 from Telstra which I'll be using myself.

    • What are you doing with the rest?

      • Fleabay. Guaranteed.

  • absolute joke.

Was on the site ready to go before 8am, refreshed at 8am & tried to pre-order… apparently I don't have a post-paid account, which I do.

Cancelling all my Telstra sh!t now because these clowns are usless

    • +2

Dang that sux, I logged in and was able to proceed with my Telstra id. Give customer service a call (maybe give it 15 to calm down first) maybe they can do something for you, maybe a long shot but might be worth it.

      • I called the number it came up with at 8.02 & they haven't been able to help at all. The most annoying thing is that it's a knock on effect that means I now missed all pre-order's at all stores.

        • Even wave 2?

          • @eggaz: haven't found anywhere to order.

Telstra just comes up with the below (even though I have a post paid internet account)

Xbox All Access is only available for customers with an active post-paid service
You're eligible for Xbox All Access if you have an active mobile, tablet, internet, or post-paid SIM service.
