    No bargain listed?

    • -2

Is 20% off 28 sellers not a bargain?

      • +7

Not necessarily if it doesn’t discount to the cheapest price available for a given item.

        • That or only items that nobody wants/needs are discounted.

        • +2

And also if the prices are jacked up 25% prior to going on 20% off.

  • +12

    Price jack in 3, 2, 1…..

    • +3

      Never heard that one before…

  • +2

What are the eligible items? I don’t believe having to find a bargain by trawling through multiple sellers and multiple items is very useful.

At least one bargain should be listed imo.

  • +20

Spent 10 minutes searching for a bargain. Literally no bargains in this advert.

  • Why are Sony never included in these sales anymore. I’m sure they use to always pop up as one of the selected sellers..

    • +10

Probably because they refused to pricejack

  • +3

"Eligible Items", sure. This last year I've mostly shopped Aliexpress and Amazon Marketplace. Ebay lost its edge.

  • +31

I used to do 90% of my online shopping at eBay however their fake sales like these along with the jacked prices really put me off and now Amazon has 90% of my online shopping. I am sure I am not the only one.

Just look at the disastrous mess eBay have done to Gumtree since they bought it. That site in now full of ads, pay to list in some categories and search features dont show what you search for just what they want you to see.

eBay you are out of touch guys

    • +3

100%. I'm ordering more than once a day from Amazon Prime. Money well spent.

      • +5

Yeah the stupid thing about Amazon prime is that most of the time I'd rather not support Amazon, but their logistics and distribution has been literally the only reliable thing in Victoria during this lockdown.

I ordered a shirt from NZ at the start of August and it's just straight up disappeared into the void. Now the company won't even respond to my emails.

        All my stuff from Amazon?
Earlier than the ETA almost every time.
        Nothing MIA.
No excuses from dodgy sales teams.

Bezos is a scum bag, but when everyone else is letting you down Amazon was reliable.

Is the knifeset on the display pic listed??

    • +2
      • Thank you. I'll pass, was hoping it to be under $30

        • $30 for a nine piece knife block?

          You're clearly a man of high taste…

          • @UncleRico: Deal below will do the talking. Thank you

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/447542

            • @Homr: The comments certainly do some talking, with the words, "dull", "blunt" and "soft" all figuring prominently!

Once you get much below the $50 Victorinox Fibrox range, there's a discernible drop in quality from the vast majority of cheap knives.

Whilst Kiwi brand are the exception that proves the rule and sharpen up quite nicely - they are soft, do not hold an edge for long and aren't great out of the box. It's all horses for courses I suppose, but they're the only $10 knife I'd entertain.

How do you search by seller? eBay is not user friendly.

    • +1

In the full browser page click the tiny 'Advanced' link next to the large, prominent blue 'Search' button. You'll see a link in the left-hand menu to select 'By seller'. Unfortunately, I find it usually needs an exact match on the seller name (i.e. their eBay ID name) and not the store name. For example, searching for 'Nespresso' won't guarantee that you get the Nespresso Australia seller.

    • Go to the deal, click on a store, top search box is 'Search this store'.

    • Select a store from the listing on
      https://tc.ebay.com.au/pleat20

  • Thanks Dealbot!

Stratco letterbox no junk mail sticker $3.99 + $30.00 postage yeah right great deal WTF, in fact most of their items are $30 postage fee.

    • -4

Didn't you know its a bargain site ?

Not spot the most rip off product !

BTW I can put up 1000's of items at 5-8 multiples of RRP .

  • Tried a few items… $10 postage, even though I'm on ebay plus.

There are options for click and collect too, and even those are $10. Why would I travel out of my home in stage 4 restrictions to collect something AND pay for the privilege?

    Geez ebay.

  • +1

$159 for a Cycliq Fly 6 seems like a good price, no price jacking from regular $199 for once…
    Thanks OP

    • There's a V3 fly6 now

  • +1
  • Victoria Basement has nothing listed under its knives section. Why am I not surprised?

    • Those links in their front store page don't work. Best way to search is using brand's name.

      • I was hoping they would have cuisinart stand mixer again on sale.. but oh well..

    • They got burned back in the 30% off knifewear sale a couple months back. No more Shun this time around…

  • Steelcraft Strider Stroller is good at $535.2

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Steelcraft-Strider-Signature-Str…

  • +5

Pushys is a great store to buy from and they dont price jack.

    • +1

Yep good to see Pushys in there in the list!

    • yes, but that $12.90 shipping for most items is a killer.

May be cheaper to wait for 15% off their website + free shipping for over $100 spend

      • +2

The free shipping for over $100 spend also applies to their ebay store

        • +1

          Thanks mate, didn't know that!

  • +6

eBay is dead to me for the following reasons (and more)
    Price jacking
    No worthy deals
    Jurassic interface
Can’t search in the seller profile
Can’t figure out who the seller is or where the item is coming from (smoke and mirrors culture)
90% of items are crap designed to fail
    eBay plus is a joke
Spam, spam, spam and more spam. And opting out of all their useless emails is a tedious chore

And the list goes on.. It just sucks

    • -1

Cool. But what's your issue with this specific deal?

      • +2

What deal? All I can (barely) see are some price jacked “eligible items” from “selected sellers” that are going to landfill in the next couple months

  • +4

Is this where I complain about ebay? Someone listen to me.

  • +1

Baby Bunting didn't jack price. Saved me $300 on stuff I was going to buy anyway and only this store sells, thank you so much Op!

  • How do you find these stores?

    • +2

Isn’t it ridiculous that everytime they have a coupon sale a ozbargainer has to do the store search link? eBay just doesn’t really care and that’s why it be dead in 3 years

      • How do you get to store search? I tried via google but no avail. thanks.

  • +2

My gut feel is eBay is on its last legs. Give it another 3 years and it be gone. No innovation and enhancements as well as ridiculously high seller fees has caused both buyers and sellers to leave. Amazon is my current primary search place rather than EBay and that hasn’t happened before.

    • And once they’re gone expect Amazon to jack their prices as well. Amazons whole game is to destroy the competition and profit. Not justifying eBay and it’s stuck in the naughties mentality just that Amazon will happily screw your over as well.

  • +3

"Victoria’s Basement" Gee things have gone down hill in the lingerie game.

    • Victorias secret basement where she stores her toys. :)

      • Knives? Quite the kink.

        • Blood play is in fashion these days.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I got 3 x Global Ukon knives for $138 delivered. My wife will be stoked.

    • Or stabbed…

      • +1

3 fancy knives may be too many if you're into stabbing wives.

        • You're a man of moderation and refinement. Nice…

  • Baby Bunting have taken the code down

    • Yup, had a few things I wanted to buy and was building my cart. Now I cant check out with the discount. Sad.

  • Baby Bunting

I think they pulled out? Can't find a single item from them eligible for this code

    • +1

Yeah this sucks, I just had a baby seat in my cart ready to click and checked with the missus and it suddenly become ineligible!

      • Are you me? I just did the exact same thing. The time it took to get approval from the missus killed it.

        • +1

Aaaaand my fate was the same..

          • @Skids andy: Yeah, I was lucky enough to get the car seat yesterday. Came back to buy some sleeping bags today, and saw they were removed. Interestingly, they're still included in the T&C's.

            • @eitai2001: I’m was on the phone to Baby Bunting trying to cancel my order from this morning (already been sent though) because silly me was buying a 0-4 seat when I have a 3yo so I really need a 6m-8y seat… anyway, he went and checked and he said eBay cancelled the code not Baby Bunting and to contact eBay to get them to activate it

    • +1

Contacted eBay , and they are investigating this , hopefully an error not a deliberate pull out ?

      • Hopefully you're right.
Because it might make sense that they've pulled out until they can pricejack, so that they aren't much cheaper than their own store.
That said, their logo disappeared from the shops included on the landing page of the deal.

      • Baby Bunting told me that eBay canceled it not them, that it’s ebays promotion

        • Confirmed with eBay, they removed baby bunting

          • @Hetty: Ffs I was going to get more stuff from baby bunting today as I checked the expiry date was 28th. Lucky I managed to get a baby seat at least..

            • @MeesusEff: It’s bloody irritating because eBay decided to stop it, not baby bunting themselves. eBay are killing themselves

      • Maybe ive missed something here but it all sounds rather strange.

Thing is, pretty much same day that ebay promo started (or 1 day before/after) a new bunting catalogue came out and a lot of stock across a lot of lines were on decent specials of up to 50% off.

I saw a $150 item thats rarely on special down to $119 and then the ebay promo made it around $95 and I was like wow, either they are making ridiculous profits or this ebay sale has came at bad timing for bunting.

Now to hear that ebay themselves pulled it down? Im not so sure. Sounds like eBay was pressured by bunting head office to pull down the code after they realised after a day or two that the sales they making are actually causing them to lose money as its coinciding with there own sale??

It probably comes down to what agreement that bunting, bing lee, good guys and other retailers have with ebay when these 20% off sales come about. Who's actually taking the hit or covering for that 20% off?

    • I just found this as well. It has been 9 months for the babybunting ebay promotion code. I just had a chat with ebay, they can't do anything

  • Thanks. Got some items from Pushys.
