  • AliExpress + shipping is cheaper. Is this AU/China or with adapter?

    • not sure about that seems like the same, especially if you manage to get free shipping from these guys. do you have links?

      • +1

Mi Homes Store is 44.95AUD + 4.10AUD = 49.05AUD vs 59.95AUD from this store. Obviously shipping time is a factor but also this is the normal aliexpress price (check price tracker).

        • probs worth it if you pick up 2 from these guys then hey

    • Title mentions AU plug.

  • -8

$8 for delivery — therefore the total price is actually $59.95.

Cheaper at a number of places.

      Cheaper where?

      • +2

        yeah im curious too

        • he probably googled and saw 1m extension thinking they are cheaper online

  • Anybody have these strips? Are they any good with apple homekit? I'm planning on getting these to work with homekit

      • seems pretty good, i think i may have to get one

    • +1

I have this strip. They are not bad - works well with homekit. I have had to reset it 2 or 3 times in the past 6 months though when it just stops being recognised by homekit. If you need to reset it it can be very hit or miss too. Can be a bit fiddly to get it back working again.
Otherwise it's good for the price compared to other homekit alternatives.

  • I’m wondering if it can be used as an ambilight feature behind my LED TV? I know it wont snychronise with the display colour but nevertheless it would be a cool idea.

    • If you use kodi, then there is a plug in that you can use that gives you dynamic lighting that syncs with the video you are playing on kodi.

      • Do you know the plugin name and does it work with the old version?

  • This is quite expensive, what's the pro and con vs something like this addressable one (that needs power supply & controller separately)
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07M8GKBJM/

    • Effort and complexity. The Xiaomi is ready to go, has an existing app that works quite well, and integrates with pretty much everything out of the box.

Taking an addressable strip, you'll need to buy or build a controller separately, which may or may not have anywhere near the functions a ready made one does.

For ambient lighting, unless you've got a larger setup in mind you were planning on building yourself, and have at least a reasonable amount of electronics knowledge, definitely not worth going the DIY route.

      • Yes, I've been thinking of getting one of the addressable strips to play with to make some christmas lights, as I have a RPi sitting around I could purpose up for it. WS2813 instead of this one though.

Very definitely not plug and play though!
