Each season is a different story set in the town of Fargo. Season 1 is my favourite as Billy Bob Thornton has an excellent performance. Season 2 is also fantastic with Kirsten Dunce Dunst and is set in the 70s. I’m yet to watch Season 3.

    Dunst ;)

    • +1

Haha cheers. Lucky I got Kirsten right…

      • You were right the first time

        • +2

Yep, she ended up actually marrying Jesse Plemons in real life

  • +12

I only watched season 1, I can still remember it was a great experience.

    • +8

Season 2 was also really really good.
I actually think it was a little better than the first.

      I don't think I've seen season 3 though.

      • +3

Season 2 is probably one of my favourite seasons of anything ever. Didn't really enjoy the 3rd towards the end, but can't wait for the 4th!

    • +1

Season 3 is what I think best, s01 second. Overall they are really good tv shows.

  • +3

Oh come on. Sure she was a dummy in season 2, but I’d still spell her name correctly as Dunst. Good performance

  • +8

Fun fact: Angus Sampson who played Bear Gerhardt in season 2 of Fargo was The Enforcer on ABC's Recovery in the late 90s.

  • +7

    Great Show… worth watching.
Each season is a completely different story with a completely different cast.
    All very well received.

  • +1

Great show. Watched seasons 1 and 2. How's season 3?

    • +2

Season 3 is meant to be on par with Season 1 according to the critics. See the wiki link.

      • +2

Would you say season 2 is better than 1?

        • The critics do

        • +1

          No

          • +1

@Pootie Tang: Season one is close to a masterpiece, and all written by creator Noah Hawley as they had longer than normal to wait for the snow season to shoot. Normally a bunch of writers work together with a show runner and write a few eps each. Noah got to write the whole series I believe. The great part is it takes the ideas from the brilliant movie and makes it twist and turn in different directions to the source material. My vote is with season one.

        • +1

Just to clarify, anyone who thinks season 2 outweighs Billy Bob and Bilbo, has been smoking too much Gandalf.

    • +1

It’s not as fantastic as the first two seasons, but it’s still pretty great. Just doesn’t come together quite as perfectly as the other two.

    • +3

I loved season 1, enjoyed season 2, but couldn't get in to season 3 and didn't finish it. I see season 4 has now started with Chris Rock, interesting to see how it turns out.

    • +2

3 is in some ways darker. A unique type of villain.

    • +1

Personally I loved all 3 seasons.

  • +11

Wow, the quality in this series is through the roof. I marvel at the people that can put together such masterful productions.

    • +1

Correct. This is up there with breaking bad and the sopranos. The fact each season starts virtually from scratch probably makes people not regard it as well. On the plus side… No cliffhangers at the end of the season. Not a show for lovers of Dan Brown tripe.

  • +4

Russell Harvard who plays the Mr Wrench, the deaf hitman (in season and 3), is Deaf.

    • +2

Phew, thought he was “appropriating” there for a minute

    • +1

      Spoiler alert!

    • what?

  • +1

Such a great show, although I might be biased…

    I do think 1 > 2 > 3, but I could maybe flip 1 and 2.

  • Aren't shows always free on SBS? This is not a deal.

    • -2

Yep. Shows are always free on SBS and there are ads too.

This is not a deal or bargain or a rare find of a product.

      • +3

The show is generally not free as seen in netflix. Now it's free* in sbs.

    • +6

      Why did you upvote then?

      • Its a good show.

  • +2

The red jacket scene in season 1.

  • In this case does HD=720p? Or better?

    • Probably 720p. I’ll have to double check tomorrow.

    • 720p via Chrome browswer

    • Roughly 2.3Mbps 720p.

  • youtube-dl, might have to find the urls in page source

  • As good as the movie?

    • +1

      As good, maybe even better

      • Interesting. I've rarely heard of a TV show based on a movie being better than the original movie. So many have tried and failed.

    • +2

Very good, at least the first two seasons. Doesn't really compare directly to the movie which is also amazing. Some of the jokes are gone, but new different jokes replace them. why_not_both.jpg

    • Better IMO.

      • Personally I preferred the movie, but these are great too.

  • Any other streaming services have Fargo? I've got Netflix and Stan so prefer to use that for no ads (although must commend SBS as they provide lots of good content for free)

    • +1

      Netflix has it.

    • +1

As Kate said Netflix has it. Interestingly the website hasn’t been updated to show that SBS has it.

    • Also no ads on SBS if you watch via Kodi

  • -6

Thanks OP, any other shows available free to stream? Maybe make a deal for each one.

    • +8

I’ll make a deal for any of the ones that are critically acclaimed, (practically) full seasons and recently added. This one is also time limited.

    • Let’s make one for Letterkenny. Or better yet, just the episodes that have the character Shoresy in them because you get more ‘bang for your buck’ in those episodes.

  • -2

Season 1 was awesome, 2 was not as good

    • Season 2 was still very very very good though. Season one was brilliant.

  • Is it necessary at all to watch the movie first? I've heard not, but I can't help but think that there has to be some sort of connection?

    • Not necessary. The first season has some similarities to the movie but it’s not the same story/universe.

      • +2

It is still better to watch them in a row, as the easter eggs are very enjoyable, as is the sterling young incarnation in season 2 of a character from season 1.

    • It’s a great movie though so watch it when and if you want.

    • +1

What sween said. They are both great and doesn't really matter what order you watch them in.

If I was starting I'd watch the movie first then season 1-2-3. As the movie and season 1 have some similarities and I enjoyed the series more than the movie.

  • Alone first.
    This next

  • Cmon season 4 give me more

  • Can I re-watch all 30 episodes before 8 Oct is the question.

    • +2

      Yes is the answer!

    • +1

      In lockdown, yes!

  • Each season is a different story set in the town of Fargo.

I think each season is set in a different town, iirc.

  • All time fave series! Can't wait for Season 4!!

  • oh gees

  • Think they're trying to expand the audience given the average start to Season 4

  • +1

This show is effing brilliant. I loved all 3 seasons, looking forward to the 4th.

I was wary of it at first - I'm a huge Coen brothers fan, and when I heard of this it seemed unnecessary at best, outright sacrilegious at worst. But once I watched it, good lord… I think it's better than the movie, and I love the movie.
