This is because Xoom 2 is out.

^^ Rock your socks off transformer prime

Really? Not worth it because of another product which isn't even released yet?
      Poor reason for a neg.

      • OH come on. You really need to stop stalking me. I didn't neg at first, but when I saw that RRP was $399, I then negged. See the difference in time from when I posted this comment to when I negged.

  • Bring it out at 250 and I might consider it. Otherwise I would just get the original transformer at a lower price.

  • same here.. $250! waiting for the old generation tablet clearance….lol…. can't justify more for a gadget that i MAY use for 10-20mins a day.

Given that in the US the reports of the Xoom say that they have had very few sales, it might be worth sitting back and waiting, the prices might come down some more…

    • Fire sale FTW

    • That's my plan…the Xoom in it's current form is fine for most people's needs and give it a couple of weeks and I reckon there will be some more movement on the price of these things.

    • yup, waiting for some major retailer to clear stock like Telstra clearing SGT 7"; $999 RRP initially, $300 clearance. Bought 1 of those and really like it for work and as a surf, media player on overseas trips. Would compliment that with a bigger tablet that allows some light surfing before retiring each night…if and only if its $250 or below…

Yeah, wait for price reduction. This price is not good enough when newer devices are due to be released shortly.

  • I was in JB's this afternoon and I asked the sales bloke if there was any wiggle room on the $392 and he mentioned it was blow their floor price as it is (snuck a peak at his pc too), it might drop later on though.

The ones they had instore were the MZ604, running Honeycomb 3.2 out of the box.

  • Xoom 2 looks good… and the media edition at 8.9inch is also quite interesting… my own gripe with the original Xoom is that it's pretty heavy. Not exactly a one-hand browser for the train ride home.

whatcha doing with the other hand?

      • +2

        Holding the train handle…

        • +2

Is that what we call it nowadays? Cool. I'll go with this.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna hold the train handle.

Looks like the RRP has dropped to $399 so this isn't a great deal.

  • I don't know what all the complaints were about. I have one, does the job i need it for and its much nicer than the ipad (my brother has an ipad, he also prefers the xoom too). Good price considering the new one wont be near that price. Also Oz stock should warranty be an issue

if you dont know what all the complaints were about, the chance is you will fall in love ANY tablets you bought.

      • Beg to differ, money was no object and I'm a software developer so i know my way around computers, well a lot more than most. I think a lot of this nonsense is from people who have no hands on knowledge and simply buy by brand and marketing. I know it's not meant to be a PC and I have my Alienware laptop for that(you probably have a problem with that brand as well, hey?). Does everything i need without hesitation and fault, from flying my Parrot Drone, email, browsing, GPS, Skype, as a basic star guide for my astrophotography to angry birds or using it as a reader. People say its heavy, it's 117 grams heavier than the ipad 2, that will hardly snap your wrists. Again I have no issues with it, in saying this I've only been using it since OS 3.1 so i can't speak on any earlier problems it may have had.

  • ASUS will continue to pound Xoom and Xoom 2 into constant fireselling

I'm going to neg because gizmodo reported yesterday that 399 was the new rrp. Sorry I don't have the direct link but go to the site or google gizmodo and xoom (I'm using my mobile on a slow 3g connection).

When it gets down to 300 our even 350 I will give a double thumbs up.
