  • Anyone tried these Golden Wok Grandma's Gyozas ? How do they compare to KB version ?

    • Both sound disgusting, so you probably can't go wrong with either of them.

      • yep.. after KB sold out to China a few years ago not to mention the seafood is now from China we steer clear of it

        • +6

          No issues for me.

Besides the KB gyozas are from Vietnam anyway or do you have issues with this communist country too?

          • +5

@Jared17: The KB gyozas are made in Thailand.

          • +7

@Jared17: No issues avoiding anything Chinese made or owned from me. I have issues with them persecuting religious minorities (such as Christians, Muslims, Falun Gong, etc) as well as journalists who don't tow the party line. They have no freedom of press. No freedom of assembly or association. They have used force to claim disputed borders in the South China Sea.

As for Vietnam, most Christians are from ethnic minorities, so it is hard to tell if their persecution is based on their religion or on racism. Perhaps both. Religious leaders are being put in gaol and and church property attacked and expropriated. They face discrimination with education, access to medical treatment, discrimination in employment, physical attacks, etc.

As someone just posted, these are from Thailand.

@heal: 'For Washington, other people’s nationality and sovereignty rarely mattered; now it does not exist. Britain has effectively surrendered its jurisdiction to Trump’s corrupt Department of Justice. In Australia, a National Security Information Act promises Kafkaesque trials for transgressors. The ABC has been raided by police and journalists’ computers taken away. The government has given unprecedented powers to intelligence officials, making journalistic whistle-blowing almost impossible. Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Assange “must face the music”. The perfidious cruelty of his statement is reinforced by its banality.

“Evil,” wrote Hannah Arendt, “comes from a failure to think. It defies thought for as soon as thought tries to engage itself with evil and examine the premises and principles from which it originates, it is frustrated because it finds nothing there. That is the banality of evil.”'

              Journalist John Pilger

              • +3

@petry: Yet the rule of law prevails. The ABC fought the AFP raids in the courts. The press in communist countries don't have those same freedoms. And despite the problems in America they still possess all their freedoms. It's laughable that you try and compare Australia and USA to China and Vietnam.

                • -1

@heal: Your personal opinion that the rule of law remains is betrayed by the fact that an innocent Australian is being persecuted in a foreign show trial that has almost no legal basis of any kind.

Australian drug lords get more protection from the Australian government in foreign countries than Assange, and his betrayal makes plain that the rule of law in this country no longer exists because he has been stripped of all his rights of citizenship without due process.

ohh and 'In June, Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers searched ABC computer systems for files linked to a series of 2017 reports known as "The Afghan Files".

The reports covered allegations of unlawful killings by Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.

The ABC launched a challenge to the validity of the warrant, arguing it was "legally unreasonable" and included search terms which failed to create any meaningful limitation on the scope.

Federal Court Justice Wendy Abraham on Monday morning dismissed the case and ordered the ABC to pay the costs of the other parties.'

As you know they lost and you think that loss of freedom is funny…..

                  • +2

                    @petry:

As you know they lost and you think that loss of freedom is funny

Two opinions in that comment. The first being that it is a loss of freedom and the second is that I think it is funny. What I found laughable is your comparison. You have another personal opinion of Assange's innocence. Let's not change the subject - it's too far off topic. It's like a bully being caught out and rather than acknowledging their behaviour they use excuses such as there's worse people out there. It's a bit like how the CCP deals with criticism. I'm not going to engage anymore about the evils of western democratic countries. I choose to try to avoid buying things from certain countries based on my own moral principals. You don't have to share them or disagree. Both of us are free to post our opinions (unless I get censored again by OzBargain) and we're not going to gaol over them.

                    • -1

@heal: i didn't make any comparison - you alone did.

i haven't changed the subject - you did.

and whats this personal attack again ' like a bully being caught out and rather than acknowledging their behaviour they use excuses such as there's worse people out there. It's a bit like how the CCP deals with criticism.'

Assange is being tortured for revealing the truth and has been abandoned by Australia. Accepted opinion by people who follow the facts of the matter.

@PappaLuigi: It's hard to find Australian frozen seafood. Our Family Table is one brand that is Australian owned, but not everything they sell is sourced from Australia. I buy it when it is on special as it is expensive compared to other frozen fish sold in supermarkets.
