La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation only $39.95 (RRP$372.99 apparently)

60

I got an email from Fishpond today and they had this foundation in it. It says the RRP is $372.99, but I had a look on the net and cheapest I could find was $180.00, definately not $39.95.
I haven't had a lot of experience the Fishpond- only buying books. Does anyone know if they sell fakes at all, but if they don't then I personally think this is an awesome buy!

Cheapest seems to be the $150 mark in Aus, good find.

Geezus, RRP$372.99, has the to be most expensive foundation I've ever seen.

    • Everything La Prairie makes is high priced. And if you think that's expensive, you should check out some of their other products. I remember seeing some sort of age serum worth almost $2,000.

      • What a waste of $2000 as well

"worth" and "cost" are quite different.

  • How is something like this ever worth that much money?

If you're lurking on this forum, no answer to that question could possibly convince you. ;)

      • i dont think any answer would convince a NORMAL person - the people who buy this kind of items at those RRP prices either have too much money or a very skewed view of financial usage…or both.

        • You could also argue that OzBargain hunters are not normal either. Sometimes complaints are openly made on this website about discounts 'not being enough', even when it's clearly a good offer.

There's obviously a market for it, so to sit around and make judgments about something you can't afford without even researching it, is just a blatant display of envy.

        • Obviously i know there's a market for it. Perhaps it wasn't obvious but my post was also a lighthearted dig at those who buy it, not a judgmental, negative dig.

That being said, look at where we are - Ozb. I think it would be representative of numerous others when i say what i said in the last post. And yes, we can say that ozb hunters are 'not normal', for not wanting things are RRP, but that is because most of us are aware of the ridiculous prices retail in Aus charges. But yes there are those who are a bit extreme in this and want more out of a deal than is reasonable.

On the other hand, please refer to Pobman above, who says it all clearly.

And really, i laugh at your last stab at me - what if i can afford it ? Just because i have the money doesn't mean i have to spend all of it. Even funnier, i'm a 20-something male and i have no need for caviar concealer foundation. Envy ? I think not.

Did a shipment go 'missing' in europe? :)

At RRP it would be cheaper to use real caviar…

you gonna post one up soon ? hahaha

  • I think its quite the bargain unfortunatyly they only seem to have the one shade and from what I've read online this shade is from the darker end of there spectum so I would have to get a strong tan to ba able to use it :(

The web page now says "none of our regular suppliers have stock available", so I wonder if it was a pricing error, or if their US supplier failed to honour the $40 price.

I bought two jars as Christmas presents for Mum and Sister. Very annoyed.
