I have been looking for a cheap smartwatch that I can wear when I am just exercising; I prefer wearing normal watches for work/social setting.

Pulled the plug on this one. Seems like a good deal.

While the white color might not be for everyone, changing the strap up might give it a good look.

Black goes for $282.99 on Amazon

  • 512mb ram?

Unfortunately yes. For my exercising purposes I rationalized myself to think its enough YMMV.

I have had a TicWatch since their first kickstarter. The change to 1GB RAM made a HUGE difference, and I wouldn't recommend anything less to anyone. The improvement in UI speed turns it from barely usable to something I could recommend to most people. As time goes on, Wear OS updates tend to want more RAM, meaning what is barely usable becomes worse as time progresses.

The TicWatch (2020), TicWatch 3 GPS and TicWatch C2+ are the current Mobvoi models with 1GB RAM. From personal experience the 2020 provides more than a day's battery life (dependant on sports tracking use), and the 3 is supposed to be even better.

        thanks.

      • Out of curiosity have you tried tinkering with it to boost performance? I hit the Reddit forums and people are talking about disabling "TicSystem" functionality on the watch. Apparently it makes it smooth. Definitely something I will play around with if the 512 ram is as disappointing as people now letting me now >.<. (I should have done more research haha)

Yes, I disabled the Tic Health functions, and I did find a YouTube video that reduced jank. Otherwise a lot of the tinkering suggestions seemed pointless. There was an important Wear OS update early in the TicWatch E life that improved things a lot.

tl;dr tinkering makes minor improvements, 1GB makes a LOT.

        • Also, I'm not neg'ing the deal - it is a OB price. My point was I lived with 512MB Wear OS watches for years, in the hope that they would evolve to something I could recommend. I can now recommend (with some caveats) the Fossil 5 Gen and Mobvoi 2020/3GPS/C2+. Of course, some people are happy with FitBit bands too, so it's all relative.

Avoid any wear os device with 512mb ram at any price. Your experience will be terrible.

  • using the Tic watch LTE with 1gb ram and 2100 CPU, Decent daily performance. any thing less than that would be a nightmare. try launching Gpay on a device with 512mb ram while standing in queue :(

Lucky the Tic S2 doesn't have NFC :P.

Waiting on my Ticwatch 3 Pro. Hope to have it by the end of the week after some delays in shipping

  • Is there such a thing as a smartwatch that DOESN'T have heart rate monitors and step counters and all that crap?

I just want a watch that looks great, and I can use for cool techy things like NFC payments, home automation routines, remote camera shutters and stuff. I don't care about all that fitness crap.
