Thanks, well spotted. Will add that in.

Free Shipping with eBay Plus also on their eBay Listing

  • How much more better is this to compared to the Kogan one that goes on sale for $40 odd ?

I tried reading the last post on this keyboard, and all these talk about switches and colours has left me bamboozled…

I play CS;GO, would this keyboard make me gUd (or better)?

    • +5

No they are cheap for a reason

    • I am curious to know as well.I am using the Kogan mechanical keyboard brown switches that I got for $35.

    • +1

Hell no!!! No comparison between both, I’d go with this all day long

      • SOLD! Lol

        Bought one

        • Enjoy! Ive had this keyboard for almost a year now and it is amazing, great build quality and satisfying switches

          • +1

@jayboi: Now I expect to increase my CS:GO rank to the highest possible :D :D :D

          • @jayboi: I have this keyboard for more than 4 years, still working fine

        • Well done, despite some Razer haters, this is a great keyboard. No comparison with Kogan.

    • im smfc/faceit lvl 9 with my $10 dell KB

yeah it might make you slightly better but at the end of the day having a good mouse and mousepad and 144hz is more important.

      • What's SMFC?

I just got back into CS (haven't played CS since the 1.6 days) and they've given me a rank of Gold Nova 2.

I've heard of faceit, is that like some anti cheat server group ?

        • Supreme master first class (1 rank below global)

Faceit is a matchmaking platform with 128 tick servers (better hitreg) and (usually) better players compared to MM.

      • When sensitivity / dpi you on ?

        • 800 dpi, 6/11 in windows, raw input on, mouse accel off, and ingame sens is 0.52

          4:3 stretched, 1152x864

          • +1

@akib: I tried using a lower DPI but ended up liking 1500 with a sensitivity of 0.57

  • Damn, I bought this on back Friday for $140+30 for the extended warranty.
Amazing keyboard, highly recommend especially for the price

  • Dang, that’s a good price!

Damn it, was going to buy but I think green switches are too loud for my home.

I got a BW Chroma, it honestly has served me well for 4 years or so. Though, don't go into it thinking it's problem free. The first problem I had was the keys "sticking". Not physically, but you would have keys keep pressing the button after the key was physically released. A firmware update fixed this problem, but you have to contact Razer support for this firmware update, unless someone uploads it for you online (which is kind of sketchy). Not all BW Chromas have this problem, but mine did. So if you have this same issue, just contact Razer and update the firmware. BTW the firmware will say it's already installed. It's not, the program just can't detect the proper firmware, so install the update anyway.

Right now though I have a problem where the keys just straight up do not register, despite me pressing them. I'm guessing the switches are going or are on their last legs, I have the green switches. It happens quite often where I have to double press the keys for them to work. But when you're in a situation in CS:GO where you need to fall back and your 's' key just straight up doesn't work and you lose the round, it's annoying.

I also have this weird issue occasionally where keys sometimes double press leading to when you're typing something it being spelt incorrectly. It's an okay keyboard overall, but it's not problem free and for the money you can probably buy a better keyboard.

I also have the Kogan blue switch keyboard and I've only owned that for a couple of months now, without any issues other than that the keycaps feel generally cheaper which is to be expected. But in a couple years time, that keyboard switches will probably also break, but considering I bought it for like 1/5th the price, it was a damn good deal. Obviously, the comparison is dumb to make, but for 1/5th the price it does about 85% of the job that my BW Chroma does.

In the end, if you're serious about keyboards, find something else imo than this or the Kogan one and really read some real reviews on keyboards that have had long term use. I will not buy another BW Chroma again despite me liking the layout and the design of the keyboard, simply because these switches started having problems after two years or so of use.

    • 2 years heh - u did well lousy build quality - i'm typing on a ten year old - no issues apart from my lousy typing, and since its that old it couldn't be a razer

      • @petry
        What

        • what what?

  • Just found the Elite version on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Razer-BlackWidow-Mechanical-Gaming…

The Media controls seem useful and carries a similar price % discount. Thoughts?

      • Hmm, not quite the cheapest its been but I think I'd prefer the wrist support, Media control and USB passthrough. I think I'll wait for a better sale on the Elite version.

        • +1

Wait till Prime Day next week I reckon, fingers crossed we'll see a discount.

          • @smogg: Same if it’s 150 I will get the elite.

  • Waiting for the Elite version to be on sale again :-)

Nice lights. How is this $107 better than the $11 Dell?

    • +1

Don't even get me started on how this is better, I don't have 3 hours to be writing 5 paragraphs on what ways this is better.

    • +1

Same logic can be shared with Cars (low vs high-end, for example).

Both will work just fine, depends on what you exactly want and expect from your purchase.

      • -1

I understand cars. Don't get the point of premium Keyboards. Even with bottled water, you can understand paying extra for a nicer bottle, glass vs plastic and so on but keys are keys.

        • If keys are keys to you then "premium" keyboards are not for you.

Apply the same concept to cars. If you jump in, turn the key and it takes you from A to B and you cannot perceive any difference in the experience between different market offerings and features then "premium" cars are also not for you.

          • @tof: but a green key from a reputable company is a green key from a reputable company.

only the keyboard badge and the assembly changes..plus bells and whistles like macros, lighting and memory

            • @petry: "but a green key from a reputable company is a green key from a reputable company"

Not true at all - colouring isn't an necessarily an indicator of type of switch, and even if they are similar (gateron blue v cherry blue) they could and more then likely would feel and sound different (material choice, spring weight, click design or lack thereof, lube/unlubed, choice of lube). Specifically this to a $11 dell - completely different switch type and build.

If we use the car analogy, a 100KW engine is a 100KW engine or a carbon fibre bike frame is a carbon fibre bike frame; NBN 100 is NBN 100; a 3080 is a 3080 etc etc.

NK65 Milkshake deal has much more detail on this than I care to go into https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/568392

              • @Hardstuck Silver 2: 'Not true at all - colouring isn't an necessarily an indicator of type of switch'

I wrote 'a green key from a reputable company is a green key from a reputable company'

                because it is .

I didn't say two different keys from different companies even though both marketed as being green were the same, because that would be incorrect. You just changed the meaning what I wrote.

Razer uses multiple manufacturers to produce its keys.

  • Cheers OP, missed the last one so picked one up from this deal.

  • +1

Didn't Razer make it mandatory to make an account with them to customise settings on hardware like keyboards, then last month accidentally leaked personal information from people who made an account?

    • It's not mandatory to have an account (though I think it'll bug you occasionally) but you must have the software running in order to set your RGB colours otherwise it defaults to cycling. This wasn't the case on their older products where the colour settings were saved to the hardware so you didn't need to constantly have the software running.

      • Damn, not having on board memory is a shame. Thanks for the heads up.

        • That's just it, it does have onboard memory but now it can only be used to store key mappings. You can store 4 or 5 (I can't recall) key maps but not a single LED scheme. It's a deliberate ploy to force you to run the software.

          • @apsilon: That sucks!

            Thanks for letting me know.

            • @NobalaKoba: Yeah, wish I'd known before I bought a new Blackwidow Elite and Deathadder V2 a few weeks ago. I assumed they'd work the same as my old ones. I'm actually selling them off at a loss and won't be using or recommending Razer any more.

              • @apsilon: I don't own any Razer products. But, have you tried open source alternatives such as OpenRGB or OpenRazer?

                • @misfitt1911: I'd seen OpenRazer in passing but IIRC it was Linux only? I hadn't seen OpenRGB but it looks like it's a great idea but it's a little too early in it's life for me to bother with. I don't like tinkering and updating like I used to, these days I want stuff I can set and forget, besides, I've already purchased replacements.

  • OOS at Amazon

hotswappables: kemove snowfox, k66, yc66, k87 or the gk64. soldered: blitzwolf

  • Had this for 1 month. Returning as faulty.

    Keys do random things.

    • +2

its razer what did u expect?

      • What do you use ?

        • I use a number of mechanicals including logitech, thermaltake and gigabyte plus some chinese. I never buy any without at least a 2 year warranty unless great value because x million clicks don't happen in 12 months - hence most of mine are old now.

rarely use macro's or fancy lighting because of inevitable software conflicts.

  • got this on the last deal as my first foray into mechanical keyboards. I love it. First, I love how 'heavy' it is. Doesnt slide around like all the cheap keyboards ive used over the years. While I cant comment on which switch is better as Ive never tried others, I love the green switches on this. Nice and tactile, clicky, and they feel good quality. The RGB is customisable (im using a neat profile I found online). Only thing that annoys me are the Razor updates which seem quite frequent and require restart, which is a pain if you cant be stuffed restarting and have to deal with factory default colour cycles every time it updates. Other than that, its great and I recommend highly at this price

  • LOL, Bing lee followed amazon and changed pricing too

  • Someone please explain why mechanical keyboard with colours are popular?

    • +2

      Because they are pretty

  • Came today already. Unboxed it. First thing I notice is how heavy it is compared to the Kogan one
I have. Which I did find I pushed forward as I was gaming.

    • Used it for 5 minutes. Very different. Keys are very clicky and feel like
Metal keys compared to the Kogan kB

      • So, did you end up liking it and do you think it was worth your money?

        • Have to get used to it. So far; it is very loud which kinda gets annoying even with headphones on.

I use the tip of my nail to press the keys and it is quite hard on the fingers. I’ll give it a go for a week
