Any saving is a saving. $4 = One Happy Meal from Maccas.

When you buy discounted gift cards at 5% off, it's only $5 off $100 but when you add up the amount over time through multiple purchases/higher denominations, it's a lot of savings..

      • -4

But then you become fat, and will have ongoing health costs.

        • +1

well it was an example of what you can purchase with $4 but of course there's a lot more options out there

      • it's not a $4 saving though and this is the same as reposting a deal on Amazon US/UK when price changes by like 2%

    • +1

Dude. the entire premise of frequenting this site is for these kinds of deals. and $4 more off a brand spankin new xm4 is crazy.

      • waiting for $5 off

      • Maybe not crazy but it’s alway welcome.

    Here before 1000 clicks

  • So i’m trying to decide which earphones/headphones to get between the AirPod Pros and the the Sony WH1000XM4. I’d be using them mainly for making and receiving calls indoors/outdoors and listening to music while going for a run/walk. Can anyone who owns both or has tried both tell me what the differences between them are and which ones they think are better? I wanted the AirPod Pros first now i’ve got caught up in the hype with the WH1000XM4 with what everyone has been saying about them. I’d be pairing them up with the new iPhone 12Pro that’s coming out in the next month or so. Any opinions and thoughts would be much appreciated, thanks.

I have both. For your use case, get the airpods pro. tbh, you can't really compare both as one is earphone and the other is headphones. Of course, xm4 is better in terms of noise cancellation and sound quality. Though I can assure you that running with headphones is extremely uncomfortable and inconvenient and these Sonys aren't rated for sports so if you get sweaty, it might affect the internals (there's a few reports out there of weird noises due to moisture build up or something like that). Also, airpods pro integrate better with apple devices

      • @skido2 thanks for your input much appreciated :)

    • I have the first generation MDR-1000X and AirPods Pro. They are very different.

Both work great on planes. The AirPods Pro might be easier to sleep with because it's not a headband, but otherwise the Sony feels more traditional for music and comfort. The AirPods Pro don't fit into my ears well but I have memory foam tips and they work marginally better.

They're both good, you can't really go wrong. Just be aware of the hubbub that there might be AirPods Pro 2 released this month.

      • +1

Agree that AirPods Pro are easier to sleep with however they will make a loud power off announcement after about 5 hours, which always woke me up. Canny find a way to turn this off. Therefore if I sleep with any headphone I go for the Sony WH1000XM4.

    • +1

@Golly1153 Also consider your time of useage - Airpods Pro has 4.5 hours battery life between charge, XM4 30 hours.

    • Didn’t you post the same question on this post? It really depends on your preference. Some people can’t stand in-ear earphones because they hurt their ears and some people hate headphones because the head band and ear cups make them sweaty. For outdoors/jogging you’d be better off going for the AirPod Pros as people usually don’t wear headphones to jog or exercise due to the weight of the headphones and it gets super uncomfortable if you get sweats around the head band/ear cups. ANC headphones such as the WH1000XM4 are more suited for indoor use such as on a plane, watching TV at home, at work (office) or if you don’t mind looking dorky, on public transport. If you are getting the iPhone 12 or already own an iPhone then stick to the AirPods Pro as it allows you to connect to your Apple devices (iPad, MacBook etc) seamlessly without connection issues, transition from sound to mic and vice versa issues that you might encounter with third party headphones.

Of course, nothing is stopping you to get both :)

      • Thanks and yes i did i’m just looking to get as many opinions as i can from fellow ozbargainers

      • if you don’t mind looking dorky, on public transport

Lots of people wear over-ear headphones on public transport. They’re hardly dorky-looking (unless they look like this)

      • Thanks for the idea, I might do just that on purpose to get a further 5% off the cheapest price ;-)

  • Bought yesterday too, maybe time to buy another!

    • why do you need 2 though

      • +6

        To save $4, duuuh.

        • In that case, it's $4x2 🙂

        • i bought one as well yesterday, any chance we can ask for a price match?

          • @ozbbcuk: I wonder if its possible to do a claim through ebay price guarantee?

      • Average the price down

      • One for each ear

  • I had the XM3's last year and found them quite uncomfortable when I wore them (mainly with the black band on the top of my head) and my ears would sweat real after longer use.

Can anyone vouch for the comfort of the XM4's or is it pretty much the same as the XM3's?

I've heard that comfort wise, the Bose QC 35's are the way to go.

    • I have bose qc30, extremely comfortable but little bit sweating occurs after 40-50 mins.

    • I encountered exactly the same thing. I have no idea if the material they have used in the XM4's pads are similarly breathable. I have tried the QC 35's and did not have the same problem. Check out "breathability" on this website. Unfortunately XM4's haven't been tested yet though: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/sony-wh-1000…

      • You encountered the uncomfort or the sweating from extended use? Or Both? I haven't had 'breathability' issues though..

I also had phantom touching issues after a couple of months of having the XM3's, particularly during colder periods.

Must hold off…. for sub $300

I'm holding off to see if Apple is going to release an Airpods Studio. Anyone else in the same boat?

    • +2

Yep, but I have a feeling they will target the product to a ‘professional user’ … I’m thinking $699-$799

    • +1

It will be much more expensive than $378.25.

      • That's a good point. I've just thought the spatial audio on the Airpods Pro was killer and it'd be awesome to have it on headphones too.

        • It will be good but not sure if it is $300-$400 price difference good. Apple stuff is always expensive.

    • Yep holding off too until I know more about the AirPod studios. Might be a big mistake to let this slip though.

  • +1

Holding off if Apple announced Airpods Studio on 13th

Bought two different pairs of the Sony and had go return them both times. Creaking noise on a earbud and not very comfortable at the top (padding is very thin).
Its a shame because I had the first gen sony and they were amazing and was really looking forward to these ones.

Bought the bose 700 instead and very happy with them

    • do ebay price beat on voucher codes on mobilciti?

  • Where can I buy eBay e-gift cards that we can get instantly online? I can't wait the 2 weeks to buy the eBay gift card through Australia Post with the cashback offer.

  • What am I doing wrong? When I get to the product page, the price shows as $445. Tried to apply the "PGGUYS15" coupon code, but got this message "This code can't be applied to your order." :(

    • +1

It'll be an issue with your eBay account. You can either checkout as a guest and use the coupon or contact eBay live chat and they'll fix the issue for you.

      • Great!! Checkout as guest worked like a charm! Cheers!

  • What are the chances these may be cheaper on Amazon Prime Day deals?
