Logitech MX Keys Wireless Keyboard $148 (LatitudePay Req'd) + Shipping or Free C&C @ Harvey Norman ($139.95 with Megabuy p/m)

970

Not the absolute cheapest this popular keyboard has ever been but it comes pretty close! Gerry is willing to give you $50 off if you select LatitudePay at checkout. Free click & collect if your local store has stock (…and you can get there - will be hard for Victorians) otherwise shipping is not overly expensive - it was only $9.95 to Launceston, Tas, when I checked.

From the screenshots this should be the US layout with the smaller Enter key. It's also the multi-device version and not the Mac-specific one, but it will work with both Windows and Mac computers.

Original LatitudePay deal link.

Edit: according to loketsin the comments below this can be pricematched with Megabuy at $189.95 and still qualify for the $50 off when using LatitudePay. Contact the HN online chat, give them the link to Megabuy, and if they agree to pricematch they'll give you a discount code (thanks to andrewtrinh for confirming this).

    Best keyboard I ever had.

    • +2

The Craft is the best ive ever had but if i wasn't now so reliant on the crown with custom app-specific shortcuts, the MX would be no.1 on my list. Battery on the Craft was decent for the first year was good, but it is horrible now.

      • Hey I have the Craft too but wasn’t able to integrate the crown into my workflow. I wonder what and how do you work with it?

        • +1

i use a combination of Automator & Applescript. I'm not very good at programming though lol so it's a learning curve, but i save them as apps and then get the crown to launch specific processes that i use multiple times a day for work. Like i have one that launches an app to enter info and create a group of folders/sub-folders. Another to launch and send as an email attachment, and then another to zip folders, send via Hightail and then archive.

excuse potentially stupid question, does this have a PrintScreen key? I use this key quite often for work.

      • No, it doesn’t. I do this a lot too, but Win+Shift+S suits my needs better.

        • +1

Good news, it actually does! It's the key with the camera icon.

          • +2

@Jebus: Best part (IMO) is you can map these keys to something else, I mapped my camera button to windows snipping tool so I can quickly select what I need.

      • It comes with software that lets you customise any key or key combo, so you can set this to be whatever you want. But no, not one labeled with PrintScreen. those spots are taken up with the device switching keys

        • Isn't the default print screen key the one with the picture of a camera? The key above the forward slash on the number pad?
That's what I use it as on my MX keys. Admittedly, I have the Logitech Options software running that lets me reassign it, but I thought it was the default key anyway.

          • @vol4321: Yes, that's it. It is the default PrintScreen key.

      • As vol4321 pointed out below, the 'camera' key above the num-pad is a dedicated PrintScreen key. Using one right now and confirmed it does 'printscreen'.

      • Yes. that's the button on top of the numpad area with camera icon

    • Me too - fantastic.

    • Why was it the best? Anything you can share with us? How do the keys feel and what's your favourite feature?

      • +1

The keys have the right amount of resistance to not need too much work nor too loose that there is no tactility. Plus the feedback while typing is precise, hard to put it in words, kind of like, the brain knows when the key has been actuated so the finger can move on to pressing the next key. This is happening fast, like my typing is not particularly fast, but with this keyboard I can take a dictation if spoken at a moderate speed.

Then comes the shape, the concave curve slips your finger towards the center of the key while pressing.
So over all there are lots of little things that adds up for a good typing experience, but feelings are harder to explain.

I did make a video about this not so long ago, there are some close up shots where the shape is shown at an angle, it makes more sense if you look at the keys like that:
        https://youtu.be/yKiPo5mi3yU

        Cheers.

  • Is this good for gaming (I don't really use macros, or RGB)? or should i get one specific for gaming?

My actual gaming usage is probably like 20% vs other uses

Currently using a Logi mech gaming keyboard, but this looks nice!

    • +2

      Probably not great for gaming.

    • +1

Agreed, not great for gaming. It's aimed squarely at the business and productivity market segments.

      • +3

        Thanks all, saved me $148!

    • +3

prefer keyboards like this over loud obnoxious “gaming” ones

      • There is no specific reason why one can not play games with this keyboard.
If it is WSAD keys that matter, one will have to have extremely specific needs before needing "better" keyboard.

    • I game with mine, and I don't notice any issues.

  • These are fantastic. I use this instead of the Apple Magic keyboard, plus I can use it on my Surface and phone as well.

  • Definitely Logitech's best keyboard to type on since the Di Novo Edge. I got mine from the US after enduring many months of not being able to source one in Australia

      • yeah! Good find, but I'm located in Melbourne. Probably won't work for you either since the pick up is in Brisbane - bit def worth a shot!

        • +1

It didn't seem to matter for price matching. They provide a discount code through the online chat.

        • I am in Melbourne too, got price matched and bought. Thanks OP

  • +1

This makes it so easy to use for multiple devices (eg. Work laptop, home PC and phone). All you need to do is press the device you want to use it for. It uses the Logitech adapter or Bluetooth, so it works fantastically with an MX mouse if you have one of those also. Keyboard feels solid and charges with USB C.

  • +8

I was all excited until I realised LatitudePay will do a credit check, unlike afterpay. Not worth a $50 discount IMHO.

    • +1

Good point. I think you're right if there is no future intention of using Latitude.

    • Pardon the ignorance, but…. How does that make it less attractive deal?

Not having a go, just don't understand

      • +3

It would be classified as a 'hard enquiry'

        • damn, i never knew. thanks for the info

        • Thanks for that. I had no idea about 'Hard Enquiry' or 'Soft Enquiry'. I'll give this a miss then. I've never even taken a loan out.

  • Is battery life 10 days of continuous use or 10 days of average usage?

    • -3

      Yes.

    • Lasts me easy 5-6 days of continuous use - 8-10 hour days. Didn't test longer as I recharge over the weekend.
Have been using it since March. Best keyboard I used for business.

    • +1

I think it's 10 days with constant backlighting as well. With the lights turned off it's up to 5 months… don't even remember the last time I plugged mine in.

    • That's with backlighting, without backlighting it apparently lasts 5 months. I got mine this week, so can't really comment on battery life - but really enjoying the keyboard so far.

    • In my experience, 20+ days of continuous usage.

    • I set my back light to low, and am getting on average over 20 days, heavy use. 8 hrs of working form home plus my own PC time.

  • can price match at OW?

    • Probably not as the original price is $198. The $50 is from Latitude Pay.

  • +1

Amazon prime day is next week . Pretty sure this will be on discount then from Amazon US?

    • -4

It's on discount now from Amazon US - different keyboards.

  • Great keyboard and works really well with the MX Master 3. Picked up both a while back for the WFH setup

    • Do they give additional functionality when used together?

      • +2

Yes, it's called Duolink - new mouse gestures when you hold Fn key pressed on the keyboard. Nothing revolutionary imo.

  • Can you use this with a smart TV? Need to replace keyboard for home PC and was hoping to double up as one for the TV

    • Literally any computer keyboard can be used with smart tv as long as it allows bt or usb connection.

    • This will probably be too heavy if you want to use it from your lap for TV, otherwise sure you can.

    • I'd recommend something like the K830 or the K400 for a smart TV as it has a built in trackpad as well.

  • Worked, thanks OP

  • +1

Loving this keyboard. Pair it with the MX Master 3 and you're set.

  • +3

When you price match with Megabuy $189.95, and combined with HN LatitudePay $50 discount, final price is $139.95. This amount is the current absolute lowest/best price for this keyboard. It is better than the deal OP referred to (that one even requires postage). I just ordered one.

    • Nice, I was wondering if it would work with a price match. I'll update the post.

    • Did you order online?

      • Yes, I ordered online. Easier to communicate with copy/paste of link of Megabuy for price match (in chat window), in my case.

        • I tried with online chat, the staff told me to do by price match email, how did you guys manage to get one from megabuy? cheers

  • How does MX compare to this from Dell : https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-multi-device-wireless-k…

The Dell doesn’t have illuminated keyboard and runs off AA’s (but I’m sure most OB’s have spare Eneloops around). Same premise with multiple devices an has a mouse extra. I ordered this one with my Dell monitor and am awaiting delivery today.

    • They look similar in connection specs. Post your thoughts on OB when you get it, I'm sure others would be interested to see what you think.

Those who already own the MX Keys rave about it's feel and build quality. It's also designed purposefully to be used with both Windows and Mac (i.e. O/S keys mapped correctly for each), whereas the Dell will be primarily Windows (will need adjustment to work with Mac).

      • At a quick glance, the mx keys is full size and dell is compact. Depends what you're after

      • Does this mean when you are switching between mac and PC the keys are where they are meant to be? Specifically the windows and command keys?

  • +1

Looking to improve my touch-typing. This… or Keychron K1 v4?

    • I've got the same question - the Keychron K1 v4 looks pretty good but not sure how it compares head to head with the MX. Any one used Keychron keyboards?

  • Good keyboard - Logitech Options sucks, and this has a known issue whereby it'll repeat the key if you press it too often - this has never affected my typing, but it impacts volume control. Solution is to not use Logitech Options.

It's really comfy to type on and build is decent - slight bit of flex in the middle.

    Recommended.

    • Ha, thanks for the heads up. I ran into this issue with volume keys a number of times and could not figure what's going on, why the volume keeps returning to zero. Turning the keyboard off and on helps, but I had no idea the problem is with Logitech software.

  • Could someone please explain how I price match and then pay with LattitudePay?

Do I need to go into the store to get the pricematch, or can it be done online?

    • +2

I price matched through their online chat and provided the MB link. They give you a discount code and then you can pay through LatitudePay.

      • Thanks for the info!

Do you need to already have a LatitudePay account?

        • I didn't have one.. but took less than 5 mins to set up a new account. Just had to provide a drivers licence/passport and a CC.

          easy peasy..

  • I love the soft shallow keypress of the logitech wireless k800 keyboard, Ive bought 3 of them i like it that much. Will this MX keyboard be a step up? Thanks!

    • Yup, really nice step up in build quality, feel and functionality.

      • Thanks mate. the k800 does flex a little when being moved, so it's good to hear about the build quality of the MX!

    • Actually I did the move to MX from K800 and have gone back to the K800.

Big issue for me - The MX Keys does not have a palm rest and the sharp edge is actually quite uncomfortable for me.
The other issue - it's not very good for gaming, just felt unnatural/uncomfortable for when you want to continually apply force on a particular key (W-A-S-D for example).

And if you're game (silly?) enough to pay the crazy price for the add on palm rest (facepalm), it's not the most comfy and looks pretty gross after awhile.

If they made a K800 with 3-device bluetooth support, I would be all over it.
MX Keys- the keys feel glorious if you like the K800 but are uncomfortable on the wrists/palms afterawhile.

      • Do you think one could get a rest pad, for the MX Keys to help with the issue?
Looking at the keyboard, I've got this exact concern.

        • They designed MX Palm Rest but it's quite expensive, you can get something unbranded much cheaper and hardly notice any difference.

      • yeah the lack of a multi device support is the main reason why I scored the multiple K800s. they used to be had for about a hundred, but now that it's discontinued, they are costing like ~160 now.
The soft, shallow keys are just so damn silky, and I do a lot of coding, so I can type heaps quicker and more accurately with the K800. Maybe I'll head to a store to test drive the MX and see what all the fuss is about.

    • I came from a K800 myself that was getting outdated, so moved to this. I prefer typing on the MX Keys, they feel "clickier" to me and the thinner profile is nice and easy to type cleanly on.

I originally went to a mechanical Das Keyboard 4, but found the lack of a palm rest combined with the height of the keyboard to be an issue with how I type. The MX Keys I don't have this issue - It doesn't have a palm rest, but the keyboard is very flat, so I'm happy to rest my hands on the desk.

I also play games on this keyboard and have never had an issue personally. YMMV!

  • Best keyboard for me as well. I broke the fn button unfortunately some time back. Still the best though

  • How many receivers does it come with? Seems a bit pointless if it can switch to 3 devices but only has 1 USB plug.

    • Multi-device support will likely be via Bluetooth only. The 2.4GHz Unifying receiver is usually for devices that don't support BT or where you don't want other devices interfering.

      • +1

Not true, multiple Unifying receivers are also supported.

      • +1

I regularly switch between two unifying receivers (both hooked up to PCs) and my phone (bluetooth). It's so seamless even between technologies that I can basically rotate back and forth between devices with no issues or reconnecting periods.

    • It comes with one receiver.
I have my MX Keys and MX Master 3 connected to that one receiver on my main PC and then also to my 2nd laptop through Bluetooth.
      Super simple to switch between

      • I've never been able to find an answer for this (or maybe I just suck at Google)

When you switch to the second computer on the keyboard, does the mouse also switch? Or do you have to switch the mouse separately?

I currently have a MX Anywhere 2S and I have to manually change the mouse.

        Cheers

    • One Unifying receiver can be used to connect both keyboard and mouse. So if you buy a kb and a mouse separately, you basically get a combo with 2 receivers, can plug the receivers in different devices, and use kb and mouse with each of them. If your device has bt, you don't need a receiver at all.

  • +2

So I just posted on the MX 3 deal so I'll post here too

I've had this keyboard for a year….and it's the best keyboard I have ever owned in 15 years. Everything from the clicks, the finger wells, the tactical feeling of the keys is perfection. It's actually cathartic to have both a minimal keyboard and one that feels so nice with every keystroke

The best thing is though, that the low profile keys and the finger wells have made me type much faster and with way less errors in typing. I want to buy 10 of these just because logitech love to cancel amazing products and never bring them back again (looking at you G600 MMO Mouse…RIP to a real one)

There is ZERO input lag, I use it for gaming all the time and there is absolutely no perceptible difference between this and wired keyboards for me.

It's sleek, minimal, very functional and it's my favourite peripheral by a mile. I payed $220 (I think) for this back before covid and I'd pay more if it broke

  • Just tried to Price Match with HN and both agents said that they can price match but won't allow LatitudePay as payment method.

    • +1

just tell them pay with credit card

    • Who did you try to price match with? Isn't it better without having to use Lattitude Pay?

      • I think the $50 discount only applies with LatitudePay.

        • The Lattitude Pay thing is required to save $50 at HN.. but this guy says that he tried to price match (doesn't say where), but they won't allow Lattitude Pay as a payment method - which is a better deal IMO.

          • +2

@bobbified: you price match first with megabuy, get the price to $189.99 then using latitude to pay so you get $50 off = $139.99
