  • already bought something… i needed a vacuum cleaner and had been looking at the kogan one… this just made it a no-brainer.

    • How is it?

      • I literally bought it 5 minutes ago… but the delivery was definately free.

  • +2

    Ew, Kogan.

    • It's a no-brainer

  • +9

i think they jacked the prices up for some of the items though

  • Bugger, just bought something on the Monday @ 10:38pm. Have emailed them. Hope they show some love.

    • +4

      "Bugger"

      "Hope they show some love."

      :O

      • +2

They did. Was refunded the $16.90 shipping fee.

So it's a +ve vote for me at least.

  • +8

Yeah that's because they've marked up the price which includes the shipping already.
    iPad 2 16G used to be $489 now $518.

    • +9

excuse me sir, but Kogan is a very trustworthy and reputable business!!!

      • +6

Clearly your sarcasm was too covert.

        • +1

I voted him back up cause that was dripping with sarcasm!

        • @Citrus
Not with the triple exclamation marks - a dead give-away.

        • -1

I honestly thought it was clearly sarcasm given their history.

At least you guys figured it out eventually :P

    • Not saying the Ipad increase isn't true, but the Samsung Galaxy S2 was 516 and now it's 509.

My invoice from Kogan from 3 weeks ago. They definitely jacked up the price

        • +2

And this is why business's keep doing it.

Customers often can't remember about prices they saw 1+ week ago.

If it wasn't for sites like these, nobody would ever figure out this trick.

  • +9

    Unethical practices, intelligence-insulting

    • Ruslan the douche .. would simply blame the exchange rate

  • +1

they learned from Harvey, but the bad ways, which would ruin the brand reputation!

  • +1

The white Galaxy S2 can be purchased for $509, which is the cheapest i've seen it.

  • This makes some of their mobiles the chapest sold in/to Australia, such as Atrix and white SGS2.

  • +4

am voting this down due to the increase in prices on the iPads…

  • ditto, putting prices up to cover the free shipping is wrong.

  • I agree they should not have put up the price of the 16GB ipad2, very bad practice. But I can confirm the 32GB iPad did not change in price as I have been considering the purchase for a while. $589 is $100 cheaper than the apple store (obviously also due to GST savings… Blah blah). Good deal all the same

  • +1

    Dodgy bargain

  • hmmm prices haven't changed, some prices have inflated to cover the free shipping
    very poor form

  • +1

    Misleading and deceptive.

    Not a bargain.

  • +2

    for shame kogan
to think i recommended your slrs to so many people.

  • +2

Deceptive conduct, would be in violations of the trade practices Act.

    • +3

Trade Practices Act no longer exists. Go with the Australian Consumer Law instead.

      • +2

Sorry, i meant the Competition and Consumer Act

  • +2

    yupe, not a bargain…

Kogan's iPad 2 price hike occurred about 10 days ago.

    I was eying for iPad 2 16GB for $479 + Shipping ($29) = $508.
I was hoping it would go down following the Xoom, but, it rose to $499 and then $519 in two days.

Anyway, for iPad 2 16GB Wifi, I think Kogan still offers the 2nd cheapest price ($519 delivered) after WoW ($499, pick up only).

    • +2

Perhaps this is what they called their LivePrice , i.e. they expect their buyers to live with it.

  • Any experiences yet with the Ez-Press coffee machine? I can't believe they managed to get it to market with all the patents..

  • +2

    Bad practice.

  • Not that I've ever bought anything from Kogan and feel the need to stick up for them, but seeing they are all grey imports and the US dollar has risen a bit in the last couple of weeks, it would make sense for the prices to be a little higher (whether they have done it to cover postage is another story!).

  • I've been eyeing a camera off for days on their website. The free shipping has just convinced me to purchase it. They didn't up the price on it either. Plus a 12 month Australia warranty on it too. :)

    • +1

I just got OW to price match Kogan on this camera whilst free shipping is on.
      http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/canon-powershot-sx230-hs-black/

They had it for $348 (RRP $449) and were happy to match it down to $284. I got the last one at Fairy Meadow so I was lucky. Very happy with my bargain so I wanted to share. :D

Here's a photo of the receipt too.
      http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/11/14/7180_2011-11-15_12.48…

      • how the hell did you get that???!?!? they still are grey imports…

thanks for letting us know, that would be worth a shot.

now… who can price match a camera len… i doubt officeworks will have them..

        • OW obviously didn't know it's a grey import. It said Australian Warranty and I think that's all they looked at. The one I got from OW has a warranty card for Australia so I'm happy.

    • +1

Got to remember it is 12 Months Kogan Warranty not Manufacturer Warranty.
So if it breaks you will most likely have to wait longer than 2 weeks to get it.

Since you got to send it to them, then they forward it to their HK Office then fix it, then send back to Australia.

      • I remember that someone telling me that Nikon Lens have an International warranty, could this by-pass this process?

  • +1

Raising prices to compensate for shipping, for shame

    • It's not all prices. See my above post.
