If you've picked up a Shield in any of the recent deals and are keen on getting a gamepad controller to game with it. This is the cheapest I've seen the NVIDIA branded controller lately. Almost matches the cheapest price listed on CamelCamel as well. Thought I'd share it in case any new owners are interested in picking up one.

Seen it locally for over 120 bucks, so seems to be a great price for AU.

Cheers,

M.

Just buy a xbox controller or actually any cheap bluetooth controller will work.

    • Yep, but the NVIDIA one has some nice features that integrate with the shield, like the Mic for voice activation and built in headset plug as well. Certainly not the only option, but at this price I grabbed one of these to check it out. Don't think i'd pay 120 bucks for it.

      • The voice control part been in beta forever…last I checked language has to be set to US for it to work which for me doesn't work as well as Australia, mic also not as sensitive. Ended up sticking to a google home mini instead. Not as good as a controller as the Xbox controller so I don't even use it as a controller, just ended up sitting there doing nothing.

Btw the google can control the shield too, not sure to what extent since I've only ever used it to pause and resume Plex movies. Not sure how it was set up either since I found out it worked by accident.

Hi, Is Xbox controller much cheaper than Nvidia Shield Controller (bluetooth), I am planning to buy for my Nvidia Shield Tv Pro. Thank you.

  • Controller itself is great, bu I would prefer an xbox or ps4/5 controller that I already have and save the money

    • Aye, If you already had a MS/Sony controller then no real need for anything else. If you didn't have anything already though like me… then it's at least an option at this price I reckon.

For me for the Nvidia Shield 2017 i use not only the Shield Controller which came with mine, but also a Mad Catz CTRLR and a Mad Catz CRTLR Micro. Excellent setup.

  • The volume slider on the remote is honestly the kind of innovative thingo I wish everyone else would copy so it could just become the new norm.

  • Yes it's quite interesting because at 199 us amazon.com is finally allowing shield pro's to be shipped to Australia again. Be interesting to see if when they drop to 150 us again they continue to allow that.
