There's been a few here who have. Mixed bag of end results. Those that got the items say it took too long. And there are those that did not get the item they bought though got a refund eventually.

Atomic timekeeping doesn't mean jack in Aus. I've had the feature on protrek watches which only synched on holiday.

I've read some northern QLD aussies can get atomic reception from japanese towers.
I worked in Indonesia and it didn't synch there..
Might not mean anything inside Australia, but a useful feature on travels (not that there is much of that happening lately).
Rather pay extra for the satellite wave than the radio controlled watch. As with the satellite wave all you need is clear sky towards the watch face and it adjust to the correct time zone.

I've seen anecdotes on watch forums from people in far north WA/QLD or in Darwin who report they can sporadically receive atomic timekeeping signals from Japan, when the weather's good and especially at any kind of elevation.
But yes for everyone else in Australia, it's a moot point. However most Casio models that do feature atomic timekeeping do not have non-atomic timekeeping versions; this GW-M5610-1 is an exception as it's basically identical to the G-5600E save for the red border around the face.
My GMW-B5000 atomic works in Brisbane sometimes and it definitely comes in handy
I have a feeling that many people who owns atomic G-Shock have issue with sync in Australia is that they had their watches set up correctly (yes, if you set it up correctly it will not sync).
If you just read the manual you'll see that Casio had switched off the sync function if you set your location to SYD, so if you have your watch set to SYD it won't even try to sync.
What I do is set the city to Tokyo (GMT+9) and have the DST switched to ON instead of AUTO to make up the GMT+10 AEST.
I live in Brisbane and I leave my watches on a north facing windowsill, my atomic watches sync pretty much every night.
I might have to try this, my current solution is setting watch and phone to Japan time then using a time signal generating app with the speaker next to the watch for 10 mins.
Yep, mostly a useless feature in Australia unless you're in qld. Definitely can't use pickup the signal elsewhere Australia. You can however spoof the signal with your phone if you really want to, but it's quite fiddly and defeats the point of automatic synchronisation.
Much better to buy a watch with gps sync or Bluetooth and sync your watch to your phone. Tends to mostly be in the higher end casios though.

I used to regularly sync to JJY with this app and a diy loop antenna, but plugged headphones work just as well. Cbb nowadays… I just want to wear nice watches lol

I just checked out their entire Casio range sorted by price and virtually all of those higher-end G-Shocks/Proteks/Edifice are ridiculously cheap; the next nearest pricing from other online watch retailers is $100-200 dollars more for most of those models.

It's exactly the same as the G-5600E other than the atomic timekeeping feature (and if you want to be really pedantic, the red border around the face). Both of them are solar-powered as opposed to the DW-5600E, which isn't.
I understand that brands have the ability to charge premium. But $150 for a digital watch like in the 80’s plus atomic timing? Can someone explain that? Demand and supply it is. But for a no-smart watch that kind of money?

No it doesn't but you can manually turn atomic timekeeping off on most Casio watches the feature it, including this one (since Casio realises not every buyer of an atomic timekeeping watch lives in the 6 countries that have broadcasting stations for atomic timekeeping).

That's literally the same exact watch as the GW-M5610 for a lot more money (prices start around $450 AUD). Sure it's a fully made in Japan model but aside from some minor cosmetic differences, it won't tell the time any better or last any longer than the G-5600E or the GW-M5610.
I've both GWM5610 on bracelets and a stock GW5000, I love both, but the latter is obviously the better watch and IMO priced accordingly. Although I tend to wear kings, due to my wrist size.

As someone with eleven G-Shocks (plus a couple of Edifice/Protek models), I'll be the first to say I think most G-Shocks are reasonably-priced when on sale and worth the money; however in the case of the higher-end G-Shock "squares", especially the all-metal GWM-B5000 series, I just don't see how that premium can be justified even if they're Japanese-made.
Your GW-5000 does nothing differently compared to a G-5600E, which costs $370 dollars less on average. It's got the same LCD, same modes, same backlight, same timekeeping accuracy and is virtually identical in case diameter/thickness; the only difference worth noting is the all metal screw-back case with a shiny, reflective coating on it and that's something you're not going to see 90% of the time while wearing it.
Even this GW-M5610 makes little sense for an Australia buyer over the cheaper G-5600E since you don't need the atomic timekeeping and otherwise, they are virtually identical.
For the typical cost of your GW-5000 online, you can get a plethora of far more worthwhile and interesting, triple sensor ABC Proteks and G-Shocks, some with all-metal construction, and all of which boast a hell of a lot more features and are arguably a lot more rugged and impact resistance than the GW-5000.

I'm saying JDM fashion in general not just for JDM-only Casio watches. in particular for those super hyped Casio collaborations (eg fragment design x Casio G-Shock DW-5600 and Madness DW5000 ) also Converse Addict line in Japan, they are exactly the same as the normal converse shoe but they are 4x the price. Price ≠ value to some extent. They are there for a reason and surely a market for them and maybe it's just for 1/10 people and you are the 9/10 unfortunately.

I got mine around $100 aud, it has never left my wrist ever since 2017. I got over 20 watch in my collection included a few gshock but that's just for occasionally wear, this watch GW-M5610-1 truly feel comfortable and worth every penny.

I got it from eBay UK, its x-display watch does not come with a box. I got it for 97$ to be exact.
I paid USD 90 ish for this on eBayAU back in 2016, and USD 275 for a GW5000.
