Google Pixel Stand Wireless Charger $78 + Delivery or Free C&C @ Harvey Norman

680

If you are Pixel 3 or above user (Not the 'a' versions) then might be a good deal for getting a full fast wireless charing, I remember reading that other wireless charges will not give full speed of wireless charing for pixels. Also this has a NFC builtin which will kick your selected photos into screensaver when charging.

  • Good price; RRP is $119

  • Thanks! My pixel 3 needs charging a few times a day, and I was just looking at getting one of these but thought it was too expensive. Still quite expensive for what it is but for some reason normal wireless charges are slow af on my pixel 3

    • how are you using your phone needing multiple recharges a day?

      • Probably an aged battery, that's all.

      • +1

I have a PIxel 3, the battery is terrible and my partner's Pixel 4 isn't much better. Both of us are charging a couple of times a day.

We have one of these stands, with the Pixel 3 I can't say I notice it being much faster than any other charger, I wouldn't pay the premium in hindsight tbh. I just power my phone off if I need it to charge quickly, on this or any of the 3 other wireless chargers in the house.

        • My wife had the Pixel 3, I have a Pixel 4XL. Both batteries last throughout the day no problems. The only days I've struggled with battery are days we've done hours of video.

          • @jhaley3180: The XLs should be fine as it's essentially the same phone with a bigger battery. But the smaller sized ones have been terrible. I'm not even a heavy user, but the Pixel 3 started average (would pretty much last the day) and has gotten worse with time (As every phone tends to in terms of battery life). I just leave it on a charger all the time I'm at my desk now and then I don't have any issues with it dying at least.

Pixel 3 limits the wireless charging speed for Qi chargers. Pixels 4 and 5 don’t.

    • Not if its the google pixel charger

Funny how Hardly Normal is now so popular on this site with bargains. No wonder why his profits have gone through the roof. He is loving this Covid lockdown.

    • normies reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Cheers, just pre-ordered the Pixel 5 so this is handy

  • 10 W… how fast will my phone charge from 0 to 100 anyone?

    • +2

Depends on which phone you have…

  • Do you reckon they're going to release anything new around pixel 5 launch? I'm going to guess no, but what do you peeps reckon?

    • I reckon "what can a new wireless charger do"? If they did release a new one I think it would do what this one does… So grab this as it is a good price for a very good wireless charger (I have two).

      • I think the answer to that is "come in matte black" :P

But fair point, I doubt there's much else they could really add. Thanks for the recommend, people do seem to like this one so I might grab it in preparation for the pixel 5.

    Google store should price match

    • +2

Is that a question or a statement?

    • +7

If you buy from Google Store, they will only price match when the device has been delivered to you. If the promo has ended by the time you received the item, then you're not eligible for a price match and will be paying full price. It's more like price protection rather than price matching. See the policy.

      • Good to know mate, I didn't know this. Cheers.

      • +5

Thank you. I've just contacted Google's chat/support and they're refunding $41 back to me for the stand I purchased last week. Good stuff!

      • +2

This is a great tip. I ordered one with my pre-order for a Pixel 5, and I received the stand last week.
$41 now getting refunded – Thanks!

It’ll be a cold day in hell when I spend another cent at Harvey Norman. Haven’t bought a single thing from there since the GST-free limit on foreign goods was removed.

    • reckon that policy wouldn’t have passed without Gerry?

      • +8

He was always a massive opponent of the GST free limit. https://www.smartcompany.com.au/finance/tax/gerry-harvey-sla…

He also tried to stop Amazon. Amazon is probably not great for the long term health of the retail industry in Australia, but if the guy is talking about fairness, he should at least practice what he preaches. He’s just a greedy bastard, trying to sound like he cares about the little guys.

  • Ordered for my coming pixel 5

  • Been using one of these every night for 2 years with my Pixel 3 and hasn't effected battery life at all. It feels premium, and is very easy to place your phone on correctly in the dark. Highly recommend for wireless charging enabled Pixel devices.

Wish Apple had an equivalent for my partners iPhone and Watch, they're all cheap rubbish in comparison.

  • Thank OP. I've been waiting for it to drop in price again.

  • +1

Would this work with a Galaxy phone that has wireless charging, or is it some proprietary Pixel technology?

    • +3

You can also charge Qi-compatible devices.

Yes it does but I wouldn't really get this for a Galaxy phone, there are far cheaper name brand 10W wireless chargers. If you're going to spend this much, might as well get higher output ones like Samsung's 12W wireless duo charger for the S10 series or the 15W one for the S20 series and Note10+ $82.23 on Amazon.

      • +1

        Depends how they're using it.
If it's for charging on a bedside overnight, then higher output means nothing, and the lower output of this charger may actually be better over time. Not to mention the cheaper alternatives often have slight coil whine which is fine in an office setting, but next to your head at night is annoying.

      • Thanks, awesome. It's not for overnight charging (I just use a cable for that), more just for my desk. Prefer to have the phone stand up so I can see notifications more easily. Might as well get some charge in whilst it's at the desk.

        • There are also other stand options. I know Anker as a really good brand, unsure about Choetech however.

Thanks OP - I had a Suncorp "$20 coupon to get you started", this with a $50 HN voucher got it down to $55.50 for me.

    • can i buy ebay gc's with ebay voucher? where

  • Sheesh I literally just sold mine on ebay for $80 shipped last week. Phew.

  • RIP I just purchased one from the google store at full price 😔

    • +3

Once you receive it, if Harvey Norman still have the price at $78 online, you should be able to get a refund with Google via their price match policy.

    • ask them on their livechat anyway keep us posted?

      • +2

I just finished chatting with them, took about 10 mins (while they referred it to a "specialist") to get a partial refund for the one I purchased last week. (received earlier this week) This will be processed back in about 5-7 business days.

With any luck it will be on special still by the time they receive it and can claim it also.

        • Thanks everyone I will try the live chat tonight when I get home and see if they will refund it as mine is still in transit

          • @janoski: @janoski, I just spoke to them about options and basically you need to provide the device serial number for them to give you a refund… so hopefully the price on Harvey Norman will be $78 by the time you receive the order!

            • @Shads: Let's hope it shows up tomorrow

              • +1

@janoski: Just checked with Harvey Norman chat and the deal ends on the 14th October.

            • @Shads: I didn't need to supply my serial number, only the Google Store order number and confirm my details. (serial number is on the order details)

              • @Solid Zero: Hmm wonder if I buy it now and jump on the chat to see if they will process the refund.

                • @Shads: Let us know

                  • +2

@nosrad: Update: I bought them through the Google store, ETA said 12-13 October. Jumped back on the chat and the guy said once I get the dispatch info, reply to his email to me, and he'll look up the serial number for my order and arrange the refund. So fingers crossed.

If you are thinking of going through the Google store, best to order asap, make sure the ETA is before the 14th and submit the price match once you have received dispatch email.

    • I bought one with my Pixel 4 almost a year ago, luckily I have a 28 Degrees card with price protection :)

    • Update!

Spoke to google support and provided them with the deal details and my order number and refund of the difference.

No need for my serial number

  • Thanks OP, have been eyeing these for a while but bought the $119 price was a little ridiculous. This is still quite steep but hopefully worth it.

    • +1

Even at full price I thought so, while it's obviously not as fast as a cable its faster than I thought it would be. I still use the cable to charge if it needs it when I go to bed, the wireless stand is on my desk for when I'm at the PC and will often go from 30% to full without noticing while I'm busy with other things.

  • +1

I have a Pixel 3 and have no choice but to buy one of these overpriced chargers for the fast charging capability.
If I had a Pixel 4 or 5, I'd definitely consider other brands that support Qi fast charging at half the price.

    • Just don't do it.

Wireless fast-charging is a nice to have but bugger being taken advantage of and paying 2 x the price of a fast charge cable.

  • Is it just me or does Harvey Norman not provide a tracking number?

  • +1

Anyone else have their order cancelled as they don't have stock?

    • yeah! no stock in the whole of aus somehow.

      • Yep happened to me too.

    • Who's cancelling the order?

      • The store I ordered to had been waiting for extra stock for the last 10 days. They called me today to say there's no more in Aus and I could have a different charger (a lot worse value) or a refund.
