Coming from a 30/2 fttp looking to 100/30 or 150/75 fixed wireless service in an average 4/2 home concrete walls , would the standard gen 2 telstra router do the job at these speeds?
or better to get one of these m5 or m9, or even google nest

I’ve had the m5 for a few months now and it’s been great.

My house is three bedroom 2 storey brick.

Wish i had gotten it sooner.

The telco supplied modem router seems to be okay but it’s wireless capabilities not good enough.

The m5 has definitely solved that.

  • Mostly for light home office / tv streaming / ps4/5 and half a dozen google smart devices

  • Damn, I just ordered the 2 pack special of Amazon the other day.

Remember to claim your smart plug.

    • Any idea how they track the redemption to ensure 1 customer can only claim it once only? I mean, if I bought 2 of these packs, can i claim it twice?

      • I had no issue. They checked the price from other store and matched it. Sorry don’t know how to attached the receipt.

        • Did they give a reason for not matching the price.

I've had a set of these for near 2 years, 1 phone, 1 smart tv, 1 laptop and maybe 20ish smart devices (wifi plugs, lights, rasp pi's etc…) I couldn't be happier with them. I have the main unit plugged into my Opticomm modem and i get full 1000mbps ethernet and around 350ish mbps on wifi if im standing near a unit. Don't bother with the HS100's they take up almost 2 plug spots (heckin chonker).

    • what did you use for your wifi plugs if not HS100?

I bought a bunch of the ones from jaycar when they were on sale for $14.95 last time.

I am with iiNet FTTP and townhouse. The modem (TP Link AC1600) is downstairs and have 2 Ethernet ports upstairs. However upstairs internet is really bad without the extender (TP-Link AC750 but using it as an access point). I am hoping to upgrade because I am annoyed with having 4 networks (2.4ghz and 5ghz + extender). The extender is connected via Ethernet cable but it's max speed is only 100/10mbps.

Is this easy to setup and create access points but have only 2 networks active (2.4ghz and 5ghz)? Hoping to connect 2 mesh to the upstairs Ethernet port and 1 downstairs. Modem to connect to NBN and ethernet ports to upstairs.

Usage: gaming on PC and connected direct via ethernet, generally TV streaming, google smart devices, and cameras.

    Hope this makes sense! TIA!

As my understanding only need to plug one to the router and the others just need power and no need to plug into network and they have only one SSID for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and it will auto pick up.

  • Got from bunnings seven hills price matched.

  • Thanks OP.

Bunnings DIY hotline won't price beat because Shopping Express website is quite plain, and has AC1300 in the title. The person doing the price beat isn't a techie either so can't fault her. She did transfer me to my local store and they manage to transfer me to electrical to do a price beat with no issues

  • Finally price matched at Bunnings Castle Hill, went to service desk don't really want to do it and asked me to go to electrical even I saw some Mesh device behind the service desk. Electrical asked me to go back to service desk and the guy called the manager and after show him the check out price and finally agreed to match, $197.10 great price can't even buy it at this price from supplier.

  • Ebayplus deal 20% off $204.80 for another 6 minutes. Use code on ebay.

  • Any one received their HS100 smart plugs from redemption yet? I claimed them on 11th Oct and haven't heard anything back.
