Not too bad but it's $148 at Officeworks.

    • damn… they should have down to a price similar to OW to get additional 5% price beat at OW.

  • Shuckable?

I don't think the elements ones are

      • The one I have (different model) has a soldered USB

    • Even if it is, it's too thick to fit into a laptop or a NUC for example. Same deal for anything > 2TB

The seagate ones are often posted here for quite a bit less.

If you have amazon prime it's only $10 more ($159.42) for 5TB seagate portable:

Don't 5TB HDDs tend to be less reliable than 4TB HDDs?

      • interesting comment. why is that?

    • How does warranty work for Amazon UK purchases?

    • It seems available to everyone not just Prime members.

Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

  • Is this reliable for family pix backups or shud I go with Samsung SSD 500 GB ? Thx

    • I would personally put photos in the cloud (dropbox, google drive/photo, etc). No hard drive is reliable, they will all eventually fail. Cloud services might get turned off but you will get a chance to copy it before that happens. You don't usually get an opportunity to make a copy of a hard drive before it fails.

Good luck downloading TB of data when they give you a month to get your stuff off IF they even give you that. Let's hope they don't mismanage the data and lose it either.

Multiple hard disk copies for me, at multiple locations, thanks.

If you care about your files the safest thing is storing them on two separate hdd, if one breaks down or fails you still have the other one.

        • Live copy for daily use.
        • Local backup for convenience if the live copy dies. Immediately copy to a new live copy if it does. This must be offline to prevent being owned by ransomware. NEVER attach if you suspect a virus.
        • Off site backup copy, periodically updated. Take your local backup to leave at the remote site while you bring back the remote copy for update. Good options may include work, a trusted friend's house, or a relative's house.
  • Seeking a 8TB at a good price, looks like have too wait more 👍

  • Does anyone know which HDD is best to attach to a PS4?
