I've always debated putting this on here for some reason, but glad to see it. I thought it was pretty good.

  • Sorry thanks for updating the post. i havent added many before. I managed to snag the R9 3900XT on Computer Aliance in the EBay plus sale but just missed on the ROG VIII Hero. So this was my plan B. not a bad plan B.

    • How much did the Hero go for?

I already updated my one note and removed it. From memory it went for around $490 odd.

    • Where was the C8H for at that price?

      • it was in the Ebay Plus flash sales last night via Computer Aliance.

        • Darn, looks like I missed it all. I was also at work at the time.

How often do these flash sales happen? Was it because of Amazon Prime day that Ebay Plus also did some deals, or does this happen with Ebay Plus from time to time? I only just signed up with Ebay Plus earlier this year, so I haven't had it for long. I haven't really taken advantage of it or used it much. I really would have used it last night if I knew about these deals to buy a bunch of computer hardware.

          • @Ice009: Ive had Ebay Plus for a while and normally when they have those sales they arent as good as that. usually they price jack so this one was to combat prime day sales for sure. its pretty hard to find a good sale on ebay even with ebay plus. i was going to cancel it this year but they gave me a $35 voucher to keep it. so i did and then managed to get cyberpunk 2077 with the voucher and an ebay plus special price of $69 pre order.
but the CPU i picked up was the biggest savings ive ever had on ebay plus.

@cashby: Ahh right, well I am glad you got a good deal on some stuff. I was thinking the same thing you were (in the short time that I've been on Ebay Plus), I was starting to think it's not worth it, but then when you guys mentioned these awesome deals, I thought, wow, maybe it is worth keeping if they have sales like that. Did Ebay Plus inform members of the sales, or did most people find out about the sales through Ozbargain? I don't recall getting an email from Ebay prior to the sales.

What CPU did you end up getting? Pretty great that you also got Cyberpunk 2077 for a decent price too.

              • @Ice009: I saw on ozb first but then yeah i did get an email but it wasnt highlighted that well. i also stacked it with shopback for 5% plus the bonus $20 back. so really good in the end. i got the R9 3900XT for $639. Now im not sure if i re-sell unopened and then get the 5900X in a couple of weeks.. or just use this one. hahaha

@cashby: Interesting coincidence, but I also have a 3900XT in transit to me (not from an Ozbargain deal, though). I don't know if it was a smart move considering that I had a 3900X and sold it a few weeks ago, and then got a great deal on a 3900XT last week, so I went ahead and bought pretty much the same CPU again. I was thinking that I should have waited for the 5900X, but wasn't sure of stock availability and pricing. What price do you think it's going to be in AUD when it's first out?

Oh, well, either way, I think I'll be happy with the 3900XT if I do keep it for a while.

                  • @Ice009: yeah there was little to no gain really from the 3900X to the 3900XT except for price. i was aiming for the 3900X for my build but when i found the XT for cheaper i just jumped on it. It has already arrived too so took a day and a half. which is really amazing. now im sitting on it until my motherboard and CPU cooler arrives and by then the 5900X should be released. so i'll make a decision whether to re-sell and then get the 5900X. just depends on how much the 5900X sells for and how much the XT drops in price. receipt i got shows $799 but if i refund through Ebay will probably lose my shopback…

@cashby: That sounds pretty good way to go. I assume if you don't open the CPU box, you can still return it through Ebay Plus? Maybe you don't have to re-sell it if you can return it unopened? Do they have 30-day returns? If so, are the returns free through Ebay Plus? Anyone know, or used this option before?

I'm interested to know what you decide to do. I guess for me it also depends on stock availability of the 5900X when it's out and what the local pricing is going to be.

I got the MSI AM4 E-ATX PRESTIGE X570 CREATION, I accidentally put the first purchase through without the coupon, so I had to immediately buy it again with the coupon applied, then requested a refund on my first order.

There was only two in stock before the sale started, so I did all this before it hit 8:01pm LOL.

Unfortunately because I had to wait for the refund of the first $799, I wasn't in a position to buy anything else during the sale without putting myself in a bad position.

This is what I paid for the second order with the coupon applied.

    Order total:
    Price AU $799.00
    Postage Free
    Gift cards, vouchers -AU $159.80

Total charged to Paypal AU $639.20

    • Amazing price. Normally I wouldn't look at MBs at that price range, but with 20%, I would have considered it too. Great purchase.

Tell me how it goes once you get it up and running.

  • Price dropped on this to $442.58.

  • I just confirmed with them / ASrock that any items shipped from US will not be covered by manufacturer warranty, however NewEgg will cover any damage from shipping if its Damaged or DoA. to summarise, if it dies in 12 - 24 months into your 3 year warranty term, you have no warranty within Australia.

Too bad, cos I really love ASrock boards, and its a good price.

    • yeah I had an AsRock 990FX fata1ty board for 9 years. So I'm glad I stuck with them again. good to know about the warranty. thankfully mine arrived and all in great working order after I finally put my 5000 series CPU in last weekend.

    • Update on this one, I found it on MWave Australia for $429

      https://www.mwave.com.au/product/asrock-x570-taichi-am4-atx-…

I picked up one, see how it goes with the order. at least I get Australian Warranty coverage this way, and save myself a few bucks on the way.
