Bejeweled 2 for Android is free on Amazon AppStore for a day. New instructions on how to install on Acer Iconia A500/A501 added.

How to install on Acer Iconia A500/A501
It is hard to install this game on some tablets (perhaps Amazon feel this game only works on Amazon Kindle Fire and older tablets??). The method below may work.

  1. If you have Amazon Appstore 2.0 or above, uninstall it (if it thinks that your device is incompatible, uninstall it).
  2. Install the old Amazon Appstore version (link provided below). Run that, and attempt to purchase and install the game. Or, if you have already purchased it (using a different Android device), still click on the install/download button, the orange button, on your Iconia Tab (it will inform you that you already purchased it - and you probably still cannot install it).

  3. (Assuming you still cannot install the app on the tablet) After you purchased/re-purchased it using the old version of Amazon Appstore, exit Amazon Appstore (the old version).
  4. You should be offered to update Amazon Appstore to the latest version (check the notification bar). Do that and update to the latest version.
  5. Then open the updated Amazon Appstore, and this time, the latest version of Appstore hopefully will let you download it to your tablet (and install it).

Please report your findings so other OZB users can benefit from your experience.
This is an Amazon Appstore issue, not a firmware issue as I thought previously.

    Well tried installing on acer iconia a501 but no go. Says not compatible with your device. Tried chainfire 3d pro but no go as well. Guess its not compatible with my tablet. Thanks anyways netsurfer :)

      My mate got it working on his Iconia A500 (for him, apprently the install works fine - no incompatible device pop up message). He is on Android 3.2 though. However, rooting on 3.2 is hard, but he does not care.

      I updated the post to reflect Android 3.2 or above may be needed before Amazon Appstore let you install it. Anyway, you already purchased it so you can install it after your tablet is running Android 3.2.

        My A500 is on 3.2.1 and shows up as incompatible. I did update the Amazon Appstore to the latest version. Could this be the issue?

        A501 and all updates on the device…. Amazon says no…. In fact will not even let me 'purchase' on the device… Not that bothered though, had better free things from Amazon in the past and no don't in the future.

          My acer is on official 3.2 with super user privillages enabled(rooted). Maybe its the rom Im using or this game doesnt like tablets. Does anyone know if it installs on lower firmware like 3.01?

          Please check the update of the submission (the last bit - I've updated it with new instructions). In my case, I am still on 3.1 and I purchased the app using another Android device initially. It simply wouldn't install on A500 initially. I think I found a workaround.

          Basically, the old version (1.x) of Appstore appears to let you purchase/initiate the download on the tablet. Once that's done, you could then upgrade to the new version of Appstore.. and it will think you have an incomplete download.

          I will ask my mate on how he got his 3.2 to install right away without any issue (since it looks like most people have issues regardless of which Android OS is installed).

    Nice set it up for the free Office App yesterday, but missed out. But worked fine for this one. Be sure to be connected via WiFi, as I don't think it will work over 3G if you're not in the US.

    Went to all the hassle of setting it up, but somehow they still got me. Says 'appstore not yet available in your region'.

    There's 20mins I'll never get back. Bummer.

      I think I spent about 4hrs before I finally got it working ( !! ) —- have already had a few useful apps so it was worth it. I just kept trying with multiple new emails and for some reason after about the 8th time or so it decided to work.

        Cool. But for me, it's just for bejewelled, it's not worth wasting more time getting an application that will just help me waste MORE time.

    I have setup an Amazon account with US details before. The app forces you to upgrade to new version and will report appstore is not yet available in your region.

    So it doesn't work neither way. I have tried this with earlier amazon free apps posts. None of the instructions work

      I've continued to keep upgrading the Amazon App Store App on my Android phone and I haven't had issues downloading new apps. The region issues are only when setting up a new account, for now that is! ;)

    It's been a long time since I signed up for the account. From what I can remember.

    • You need a postal address in US.
    • You need a credit card that's considered a US based credit card.

    If you still get a region issue, then you will need a VPN connection to US.

      Haven't looked at the reviews on amazon but works great for me on optus mytab. But then again I love the game so I am probably a bit biased.

      I haven't tested the game, but have had a look at the specifics of the reviews.

      44MB and can't be moved to SD card was a big draw back for me (and a lot of others according to reviews).
      Secondly, it wants crazy permissions to your device, like the ability to send text messages.
