TP-Link Archer AX50 Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router AX3000 $170 + $8 Delivery @ The Good Guys Commercial (Membership Required)

Product page : https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/wifi-router/arche…

With all the previous GGCommercial TPLink deals this one wasn’t mentioned but I think it may be the best ‘bang for buck’ in the AX space and appears to be the best value ax3000 on the market. With everyone upgrading their motherboards and pc’s with wifi6 capability they might be looking for a new router but not willing to splurge too much for the ax11000.

I previously had an Archer D9 and it lasted for many years and was a good router.

Cheapest I could find otherwise was $247.80. Is $279 on the normal website.

How do you get a membership?

  • Been this price for 3 weeks but there seems to be no stock. Still waiting for my order

    • Hi if you've recieved it, how's the router?

      • +1

Had the router now for 2 weeks and it definitely fixed the WIFI range issue we had. We used to have devices inside the house drop off from the WIFI range of our old router. WIFI 6 seems to do the trick. Had to do driver updates on some of our devices before it picked up the routers WIFI but apart from that no issues.

  • Tossing up between this and the AX1500 for $122.

    • They both don't have planned WPA3 support, as opposed to their AX20, last week when I checked? How much they sell AX 20 at GGC?

      • They don’t have it.

  • Is it compatible with NBN with a fttn connection?

    • no. this is a router, not a modem.

      • Thanks

    • You have to connect it with of the LAN of your exsistion modem/router provided by ISP

      • thanks for the info

  • I was surprised my friend bought it for roughly AUD$100 in Malaysia. And many sellers had around this price. I guess it should overall drop really soon.

  • i own one, got mine from HN when they were first released , extremely happy with it. No issues, but like most products, make sure to run current firmware after you buy one. Getting stock was the problem even before covid , with people working from home stock is probably even lower now.

my nbn is HFC so it attaches to nbn cable arris modem.

never using these guys again. From a previous m9 deal it's now been 5 weeks. No delivery. No one replies to emails. No one answers the phone. No ETA lol You experience may vary I suppose

  • If I buy two, can these mesh together to form one seamless ssid?

    • Just plug them together using Ethernet from man on the 'master' to wan on the 'slave'. On the master, turn on DHCP, ensure the security method is set to either wpa2-psk or wpa3 (WiFi 6 modems should have this), note the SSID, then turn off. Connect to the slave, set the SSID, security method and password exactly the same, set to bridge mode (if available) or just disable DHCP and NAT. Turn both routers on, plug from LAN out on master to WAN in on slave. Set the channels on each to auto so they will find different channels. Also make the SSIDs the same for 2.4GHz and 5GHz on both routers. If you see a setting for 'band steering' turn it on as this will help clients to jump to the best band for them a little more readily.

Your devices should switch happily between the two according to signal strength and will pick 2.4 or 5 GHz automatically. The wired connection is not a true 'wireless mesh' but will be much faster as the 'wired back haul' is much faster than a wireless connection, and the wireless connection will only be around half its maximum speed between two mesh routers.
