Isn't IN2020 the Chinese model and lacks B28?

    • That is correct

      • +3

So almost $1,000 for a no B28 phone? That's pretty steep.

        • +2

You'd need to get the EU version for B28 support. Most people don't notice any difference without B28, but YMMV

          • @Omk4r123: Go outside the cities and you 100% do notice.

If I'm not on Telstra with a B28 phone visiting my family in NSW I get no reception at all.

      • I'm not 100% tech-savvy but isn't B28 band on the 700MHz, and under the specs, it does have the 700 MHZ listed. Or does band refer to a completely different thing?

        • +1

The specs on a lot of these gray market sites are inaccurate. They just copy and paste the generic specs. The Indian variants of oneplus phones generally don't have band 28, such as this. Another example is the AC2001 of the oneplus nord.

  • Any deal for 12gb 256gb? Preferably EU version

  • pro version with 8gb?

  • +1

Cheaper here @ $960 + shipping. IN2020 model as well without B28 band ofc.

B28 OnePlus 8 pro deals anywhere?

  • +1

Why get this over the Samsung Galaxy FE? With that you get au warranty and 3 years of updates for a similar price.

    • -3

Not only that, Oneplus has been nefarious with their VoLTE/ VoWiFi support in Australia. Had to have work around to get it enable them. It gets reset also when new updates comes through, which is very annoying.

      • +2

Oneplus doesn't sell into Australia, so I imagine their support level would be zero. Which seems to be what you're describing.

    • +3

This will beat FE on every aspect. To mention few: Quad display, 120 Hz refresh rate, oxygen OS, premium design, only cons is warranty issue.

      • -1

I'm not sure what a quad display is, but it sounds like some marketing fluff. The FE also has a 120hz refresh rate, and guaranteed 3 years of OS and security updates, which definately all adds up to a much better package for my money than the 8 Pro.

        • +2

He is referring to a QHD display, 1440p. Additionally it has 10 bit display.

OnePlus even though it only guarantees 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates, they usually provide 3.

      • +1

The S20 FE has a metallic ring around the front camera cut out to make it stand out. No idea why they did that!

        • Dave Lee on Youtube thinks its to make it seem less premium than their regular S series.

      • +2

But you can get S20 FE 5G for cheaper and the warranty is kind of a big plus. I'm not sure why people think buying $1,000 phone with dodgy warranty is a non-problem. Also you missed out on B28 and VoLTE/VoWIFI (the latter apparently can be fixed by sideloading). For me that's a lot of issue for buying $1,000 phone, if it was say Amazon UK or Kogan with the B28 version I can bite, but this is Tobydeals and Chinese version.

  • i love tobydeals

  • Is tobydeals one of the legit ones? I keep getting these HK companies mixed up.
Legit in terms of warranty/customer service/responding to emails.

    • No personal experience but people here generally seem to rate them.

      • Thanks mate

        • Yeah they are legit, should be good to go if you find a good price with them.
