I went to Amazon to buy and found this Samsung T7 1TB blue on sale for $220.52, not the cheapest one but very good price considering cheapest price was from eBay promotion. This is Australian stock and ship by Amazon AU as well.

Should be good for PS4 game external storage on PS5.

      Colour checks out too ;)

    • That's my plan too! Front-side USB-C port :D

  • Anyone know why the heading says

    'Samsung T7 1TB USB3.2'

    but the technical details say

'Hardware Interface USB 3.1 Type C'?

    Which is it?

    • +1

I can confirm that it is USB 3.2

      • +2

Actually the more specific question should be is this USB 3.2 Gen 2 (formerly USB 3.1 Gen 2 - 10Gbps) or USB 3.2 Gen 1 (formerly USB 3.1 Gen 1 - 5Gbps). This USB-IF naming conventions are going crazy.

Later we will be dealing with the following derivatives. I can already tell consumer brands and consumers themselves going blank.

USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 (single lane)
USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 (single lane)
USB 3.2 Gen 1x2 (double lane)
USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (double lane)

The T5 is 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) - I have one - so this would definitely be USB 3.2 Gen 2. These drives are way faster than the T5's

  • This one or the SanDisk extreme portable?

    • +2

SanDisk Extreme is awesome, better design than the Samsung. It has a rugged case, like rubber, with integrated loop for attaching to hooks, key rings. It gets my vote over the Samsung, which is cold, metallic, and slippery. I prefer the grippy feel of the SanDisk.

But if you want the equivalent speed to the T7 you will need to get the SanDisk Extreme Pro, which is pricey. I just went for the normal SanDisk Extreme, because 500 MB per second is more than enough for what I need. It's equivalent to the Samsung T5 in speed.

      • Didn't mean to vote down or up sorry mate.

        • huh? no idea what you're on about. I give no f's about votes, they mean nothing to me. Vote me up, down, all round town.

      • Thanks, I just brought the SanDisk one.
