Samsung 860 EVO SSD 1TB $159 + $5.95 Delivery (+$29 Cashback via Samsung) @ Budget PC

1060

Good price for a good SSD. Samsung's cashback promotion runs until 31/10/2020 November 9. $5.95 delivery is through fastway - probably a good time to avoid Aus Post.

Also available at Umart for $10 more. You may find a better purchase + delivery combo there

  • Seller doesn't seem to be on the participating resellers list so not eligible for cashback.

Edit, just noticed this is formerly budget PC so should be ok

    • yeah looks like they changed logo to sanskrit/and revamped site..

Is $130 after cash back a all time low for this?

$5.95 delivery is through fastway - probably a good time to avoid Aus Post.

    Fastway is even worse though

    • there are other courier options as well

Postage to Syd is coming up as $11.90/Aus Post, $13.86/Fastway

    • I vaguely recall a comment during the recent ebay sale that it could be had for less than $110. This with various cashback promotions.

Ebay had the 'flashsave' code/sale during the amazon prime days. I got a 1tb 860 evo for $101.60 after cashbacks (that could be stacked).

        1. 1TB 860 Evo was $185 on ebay from futu/etc.
        2. Flash sale code on ebay of 20% off takes that down to $148.
        3. 5% cashback via shopback could be stacked as well, which took it further down to $140.6.
        4. Shopback also had $10 back on $30 spend, which could be stacked as well, so $130.60.
        5. And samsung cashback of $29 on 1TB mode, takes it down to $101.60

Thanks for the confirmation. That's insane value.

I jumped on this one as well at $101 - nice to have confirmation on it's value after installing it haha

        • +1

Congratz, that's done in true ozbargain fashion, I was considering it at $119 but didn't bother as I already got one, but for $101 I would have definitely done it.

In Melbourne? Auspost is just unbearable at the moment.

Fastway/Couriers please all better than Auspost.

        In Melbourne?

Delivered something to Melbourne via auspost last week no hassles. Express post sent from NSW regional delivered to Melb CBD in 20 hours…

        • Yeh my nbn ncd came on time (priority), my wd hd from umart took forever though

      • +1

It was unbearable a month ago, was taking over a week to get things delivered from 40mins drive away.

Seems to have been mostly resolved now, getting most items 2 days after dispatch notice as per usual.

      • They're all pretty meh tbh

      • +3

AusPost, even if it takes a month to deliver can't be worse than Fastway.

      • Sydney to Melbourne on two occasions took 2 days, one was delivered on Saturday, in the past fortnight.

      Avoid Fastway at ANY cost

  • whats the best value for 2tb 970 Evo?

  • Ended up getting the 500gb from Centrecom for $92 with free shipping (before cashback)

  • high chance major distributor can match the price.

  • Postage to Brissie metro $20, so cheaper from Umart for me. Still, great price OP.

Centrecom is $142 (with cashback) which is more than $130.

    • +1

Hey, 171 is a bigger number than 159

    • I'm not sure where you got your Maths degree, but $159 @ BPCTech (before delivery and cashback) is definitely cheaper than $171 @ Centrecom (before delivery and cashback)

      • +1

Centrecom is free delivery which makes it a similar amount after delivery charges added in

      • Honestly, not by much

BPCtech is $11.90 postage so it comes to $170.90 total
Centrecom is free postage so it comes to $171 total

We're talking 10 cents difference here.

Kingston A2000, Crucial MX500, Crucial P1 or this?

    • +1 I'd like to know this too.

    • +1

You're kinda comparing apples to oranges there. The A2000 and P1 are both m.2 NVMe drives (plug in directly into the m.2 slot on your mobo, no wires) and are a lot faster than the 2 2.5" SATA drives, the 860 Evo and the MX500.

For a boot drive, I'd personally recommend an m.2 NVMe, although the noticeable differences between NVMe and SATA aren't too large for everyday use. I'd choose the A2000 as it is a TLC drive, compared to the P1 which is the inferior QLC.

For games and other mass storage, you won't notice any real world differences between any SATA SSD, I'd just get whichever's cheaper. The MX500 and 860 EVO are both high-end 2.5" SSDs and there's no perceivable differences in their speed.

      • I'd be using it for storage of samples in a recording studio (audio files) so it seems I should go with whatever is cheapest. I already have an SSD for boot drive. You've got me reading about SLC/MLC/TLC/QLC, which I didn't even know was a thing. That was really helpful. Thank you very much.

Serials on the SSD itself is coming back as invalid for cashback. Apparently a known issue with Samsung not updating their databases..

    • +1

I am getting the same issue, assume you just got in touch via their customer service team to resolve?

      • +1

No reply from any of their customer service.. pretty much a joke

  • I see all these bargains had 31st october on them but looking at this page: https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/ssd-upgrade-cashback/ seems like the cashback runs till 9 november, did they extend it or something?
