Coles AA & AAA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries (4 Pack) $5.60 @ Coles

250

It's Ozbargain - who doesn't love rechargeable batteries?

Four packs of 800mAh AAA, or 2200 mAh AA. It may be sacrilege around here, but Choice rated them higher than Eneloops:

Normally $7-$8 (I'm see conflicting listings). My guess is these are being cleared, as they aren't on the Coles national website anymore.

Cheers!

Many people have prev commented these are known to leak

Are you sure that was their NiMh range and not their Alkaline range? NiMh batteries are pretty dry, and I've never heard of a NiMh leaking before. Alkaline on the other hand is a different story…

Reference of comments of leaking in here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/567532

This seems to be the first brand of nimh batteries that I heard of leaking. If the factories produce batteries for other brands then it can happen to other brands. Agree with other comments that it is safer to stay with eneloop. That is ozbargain identity.

these leak! don't waste ya time!

    • Damn really? Where can I read about that. Ive got some from last sale and theyre fine so far.

      • i've not had trouble yet, but haven't really had them long enough to do more than a few cycles each so a bit early to tell. I've had eneloops leak before though, so figured i'd give these a bash.

        • Same. Used some for over a year (AA) and others for the last 6 months (AAA).
Will keep an eye on them.

      • would invest more into a better rechargeable i.e. Eneloops.

never had any leak on me and i've got tons of mixed AAA and AA Coles batt's?

I've got about 8 packs of AA & AAA Coles rechargeables, never had a leak or failure, I use them all the time in remote control toys for the kids,
torches, solar lights where they sit in the sunlight being recharged every day for 2+ years and no issues.
At $7 (or less on sale) for a 4 pack they definitely deserve Choice magazine best battery!!

  • Has anyone used these with Wii motes? Need some cheap rechargables

      works fine

I don't have feedback long term but they certainly have higher capacity compared to the Aldi rechargeables.

From memory Aldi ones were lower than rated whereas the Coles ones were higher after a "break in" charge cycle on a maha c9000

  • The Choice review was last updated in 2016, a lot can change in 4 years so I wouldn't rely on it.

Yet there still the same battery otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to carry the Choice award on the pack!!

  • Not sure why the old deal was marked as expired 4 days ago.

Because officially, the promotion ended then (based on the yellow special price stickers) but I bought another pack yesterday and was pleasantly surprised the scanned at the discounted price.

    • They were $7 a pack last week

    1. German and Japanese batteries
    2. Korean batteries
    3. Euro and US batteries
    4. Other Asian batteries*
    • Only when produced for Original Equipment in brand name equipment, in controlled production (not retail products)

When retail chains get white-labelled production out of Asia, you only get what they got sold!

If you've got Ebay Plus, it qualifies for the extra 10% off if you spend $90+ total.

2100 mAh AA same price from Aldi (better)

  • +1

Btw they are available on coles website, they aren't being cleared

  • I bought 5 packs today in store.

Just a note that the pack says "Ready to Use" which does NOT mean they are precharged and ready to use in your device.

They need to be charged first. Misleading advertising but no big deal.
