I think many of us would agree that 2020, with still a bit more than 2 months left, has not been a great year. Bushfire, Pandemic, and OzBargain T-shirts for 2020 still have not been made. As our usual November IRL meetups, where we normally give out free T-shirts to our birthday parties, seem to be very unlikely, let's just move on and design an OzBargain T-shirt for 2021 instead!
Our last T-shirt design comp was 3½ years ago and this one will be very similar. Fire up your mspaint.exe and send us your design to win cash or gift card prizes! Moreover, our next batch of OzBargain T-shirts will be bearing your winning design — hopefully sometime next year.
Terms and Conditions
Duration
- Competition closes on 12 November 2020 at 11:59PM. All entries must be submitted before the closing date.
- Moderators may take up to a week to discuss and rate the entries, winners will be announced on 19 November 2020.
Eligibility
- The entrant must be an OzBargain member with an active OzBargain account who currently resides in Australia.
- OzBargain employees are ineligible.
- Overseas members are ineligible.
Design Guidelines
- For the back of T-shirt with a maximum size of 30x30cm. Colour of the T-shirt can be either orange or black.
- Illustration and/or words that an OzBargainer would proudly wear
- Screen printing will be used, so less colour the better. Preferably just black or white (to be printed on top of colour of the T-shirt).
- Using copyright content without permission will result in invalidation of your entry, please only submit original works. You are permitted to use OzBargain logo in your designs.
- Theme: something that OzBargainers will recognise

Method of Entry
- Feel free to discuss the competition in this competition post. However, do not submit your design in the comments (unless you are happy to lend your ideas to others).
- You can email your designs to [email protected] with title "T-Shirt Competition Entry from <OzBargain username>". Down scaled JPEG or PNG are fine. Feel free to include an explanation for the design.
- Multiple submissions are allowed. However maximum 1 prize per person.
Prizes
- 1x $500 PayPal funds (or gift card from GiftPay) for the winning entry.
- 1x $400 & 1x $300 PayPal funds (or gift card from GiftPay) for the 2 runner ups.
- 10x $50 PayPal funds (or gift card from GiftPay) for the next top 10 participants.
- Free T-shirts for all 13 winners after they have been manufactured.

I thought that's OzBargainers' standard tool of trade? Feel free to use alternatives such as PhotoShop, Paint.net, Gimp, Inkscape or whatever. Preferred submission would be PNG file with transparency layer or SVG.

Does the Design need to be print ready or is it just to give an idea, and will be finessed by someone with the skills to do so?
It's okay to be an idea — many entries need a bit of fix to be ready for screen printing. However "unworkable" designs might also get a penalty.

How do we get one of these t-shirts once they're available?
They are not sold normally, only given away as prizes or at meetups.
I've got several of them from previous meet-ups and competitions but without meet-ups this year, just wondering what the cost effective way to distribute them will be.
Maybe a lucky draw and those who are drawn and are happy to, can pay for postage?

For the last batch ("Professionals") we made ~400 shirts, half went to Sydney and half went to Melbourne. Cost is around $11/shirt including DHL from China.
