  • What would the RRP be on something like this?

  • No stock in Melbourne north.

  • Thanks, will shackle my rear battery and fridge nicely.

    Aren't bungie straps illegal?

After a poor kid died using one with shopping trollies. I don't want them in my house tbh (young kids).

    • No they are not.

    • Just use the ratchet straps then

Obviously I would bin them. But a warning to others to at least think about how they are stored or if they are kept.

Yeah its a fair call - occy straps are dangerous bloody things. Considering the huge labels on em nowdays I reckon people should know the hazards.

    • Depends how kinky you are ;-)

    • how does one die from straps? Unless you use them to bungie jump off a cliff or a bridge for fun….

      • The bungie strap not the ratchet strap.

He had it hooked onto trollies as used to be the practice. It snapped off and hit him in the throat.

        • Oooof, that's gotta hurt….

Had this set for years. Comes in handy so often. I purchased two years ago for $10 each. As you can see in bunnings, it would be more than double the price to get whats in this pack.

  • Supercars is getting a huge change this year

This is a much better option in my opinion

I can’t speak for the repco branded version, but I agree with you regarding the Bunnings set. I have approx 6 of those sets (24 tie downs in total) and have been using them for years. They are standing up well to the elements (although when not in use they are stored in my vehicles) and the ratchets are strongly made and can achieve good tension. Only real issue I’ve had is some of the straps have worn out, although that’s been down to the fact they’ve been strapped over a sharp edge which has slowly cut through on long drives. I normally try and have a blanket/protection but sometimes it’s unavoidable.

I would recommend most people getting at least one set, very handy and not that expensive.

  • Ozbargained!

  • is this good for roof racks?

    • +1

Yes. Maybe a bit long for roof racks but you can either zig-zag it or loop a spool at the end.

      Also:
      * It depend on the structure. Works best with the tubular types, obviously.
      * Depending on material of roof racks and where you park your car, it will eventually take off some of the paint causing the roof racks to rust

This is my experience with a cheapo tubular roof racks. YMMV with different racks
