Very limited stock in VIC. Looks to only be regional and no delivery.

    • Limited stock but can also price match elsewhere :)

      • Does price matching work for sale items?

        • It should, doesn’t say clearance or on sale on the Good Guys website next to the price

          • @ca20: Which company offers the best price match policy? Officeworks with 5% discount?

      • This is old stock as there is a 2020 model hence finding a store that will price match is slim!

        • Do you which version this product is?

  • +4

Do you think i can put one of these on my dog ? seriously.

    • -4

If you can then I should put one on my wife

      • +11

        Yes Borat

        • +15

Why do I need tracker? I never let my wife out of cage unsupervised.

          • +2

@Plankton: And for those times you do, you can use a leash.

          • @Plankton: Does she like Doggy Style? Asking for a friend

            • @mousie: I don't think you understand how to use "asking for a friend" lmao

Edit: I changed my mind. You should try that joke in real life (especially on a boss if you have one) 😂

    • +2

      You definitely could.

    • +10

They don't have a very long range because they use Bluetooth. Like I think you would be able to find your dog before the tile would.

      • +2

Tile has an extra feature that can help - if a tile is out of range for a longer time, other Tile users will monitor for the bluetooth ID and send a notification if your tile is found in their general area. It's not perfect and depends on other Tile users being nearby you but better than nothing.

        • +6

I had a brush with this - I've been using a Chipolo (another tracker brand) for several months; I got a notification on my phone a few days ago that my Chipolo had helped someone else locate their Chipolo.

    • +2

I put one on my dog to test out, but didn't like it getting dunked in water when the dog takes a drink. I also think it would be useless near my house because it's not very densely populated and large blocks of land so the chance of it being in BT range of any other tiles if the dog escapes is very slim.

I've put them on the kids when we're out at crowded shopping centres, music festivals etc. Have never had to use it but it gave a little extra peace of mind.

    • Some people will use these on their outside roaming cats

    • absolutely you could

    • +3

just put a steak on the floor. You'll find your dog in no time.

    • I have a similar one on my dog but I have to say it's a hit and miss (though I haven't had a situation where I had to track her yet) but even in short range, it's pretty limited.

It's definitely better than nothing though, so at this price, it's good.

One benefit though is I can call my dog and then use the Tile that's on her to find my phone :)

    • My 12 year old dog is going senile and has started wandering the neighborhood if he manages to sneak out the front door. It is sad because he was always the dog who would sit on the doormat crying to be let back in if he accidentally got left outside before this. He is also deaf as a post which doesn't help finding him if he does escape.

I bought this because I didn't want to find him under a car if he escaped:

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tractive-3g-gps-pet-track…

It alerts me if he leaves a predefined area and lets me track his location.

It is not perfect - I get some false alerts when he is inside because the GPS can't see satellites, you have to pay a small monthly subscription for the SIM and can't use your own SIM, the battery lasts around 2 days and then needs to be charged - but it gives pretty big piece of mind if you dog is a deaf wanderer.

And it IS waterproof for swimming.

  • +1

    showing stock in Port Macquarie

    • +3

The fact that it's also showing me this, probably meaning it's the closest Good Guys with stock, probably means that's the only store with it in stock.

      Also I live in Brisbane.

  • Is this the single use or rechargeable

    • -1

      Replaceable button cell.

    • -5

I believe this as an easily replaceable battery that will last for one year

    • +4

That is the really old version, probably haven't been made for 2 or 3 years. The battery is NOT replaceable.

      • I thought this was the 2020 version? How would we find out which version it is?

        • +1

This model RT-05001-NA is a discontinued product. Good price but only good for 8-12 months as there is no way to replace the battery!

          • +1

            @IMadeYouReadThis: Thanks, have updated listing!

          • +2

@IMadeYouReadThis: You can replace the battery if you are at all good with little screwdrivers. I researched this well before buying them previously.

        • Based on Bestbuy, it’s likely to be 2017 model. Good review though.

  • Show stock near Wollongong, NSW

  • What do you guys use this for?

    • +1

Putting one inside my wallet and another to my car key

    • Put on any items to help locate it using Tile app. Your tile app will need to have always allow GPS on though.

Sad that no stock near us, my dad said he wants one to help locate his misplaced car key - occurs more often now he’s quite forgetful. :(

    • for me it's my keys. i keep one on each set i have

  • How long does the battery last ?

    • Up to 1 year. Cannot be replaced

      • +2

ohh what … thats crappy then .. thanks

        • +1

Mine lasted almost two years and I was able to crack it open and replace the battery without much difficulty

      • +6

So its disposable? That is rubbish? Just landfill. Can I pry it open to replace the battery?

      • +1

Yeah you can replace the battery easily. There are YouTube videos about it.

    • +2

It will break after a few weeks/months. So technically the battery will never ever run out.

  • +5

ill wait for apples version. More ppl on apple means tracking will be more accurate.

    • +3

yeah but you won't get that for $10

    • Agreed, this should make the entire concept much more realistic.

But of course, non-Apple users will trot out the old "Been done for years, and now Apple have 'invented' tracking. Enjoy your lame late-to-the-party 'innovation', fanbois."

  • I saw a YouTube video where someone teaches you how to open it and change the battery

  • +1

    https://youtu.be/GQgR4mVB11U
There's a few different videos for this task

    • I don't know if the other videos are better, but the way he does it looks hella dangerous

  • +2

Did a price match at OW. The one I got says the battery is replaceable. SKU:RE-19001-AP

    • +1

Did you buy it over the phone? What was the original price on OW?

      • Not OP but $39.96

      • Their policy was I had to come in store. I did place a hold on the phone beforehand.

    • +3

Got declined, they noticed the part numbers were different.

  • What about if you put one on your car?

Say if someone stole it and parked in the street somewhere can you locate it ?

    • +2

As long as there are other Tile users around, it can alert you of the position of that Tile user when they connect with your Tile. But if the car was driven to woop-woop, then there is a very low chance of locating it using Tile. It might be picked up by other Tile user enroute but there are better GPS trackers which require data for this use case.

  • Good deal but no stock anywhere close to me. I have the same one and it is possible to change the battery, you will just need a Stanley knife to crack open the case and some super glue to stick it back together.

  • We have two of these. They are good but indeed, battery lasts for about a year. They also seem to get less powerful over time - no doubt because our kids keep activating them.

  • +1

I price matched with OW over the phone and put 2 of these on hold for matched price which I will pick later. He has put a quote on the items so I will not need to explain the price match thing when I go to pick them. The ones they have is a newer model which is $39 each but he did not question that.

  • +1

Can't change battery & can't recharge?! why on earth anyone would even consider buying?

  • you can’t replace the battery

    Challenge accepted!

    • +1

That's not so much of a challenge.
Instead, challenge you to get Officeworks to pricematch even though it has a different product code.

    • There's video on YouTube showing you how to change the battery.

Just require a knife to open and glue to close it back up.

  • Absolute garbage. I wouldn't use it if they paid me $10. I bought three of these one Christmas for my partner, her mother and myself. All three had crapped out in less than 6 months.

    • I wouldn't use it if they paid me $10

What are you doing on OzBargain?

    • +1

Agreed. I have had MANY of these. Lots dont even work out of the box. i have given many away out of 4 packs just to be told by everyone i give it to "that key ring thing you gave me broke after a few weeks"
      These are complete garbage.

  • You can replace the battery in these if you crack it open however I thought Tile was disabling these tiles after a certain date, so even if you manage to get a new battery in there, it won't let you use it in the app.

  • Also failed at a Officeworks price beat.

    • What did they say?

  • You can crack open it, it’s a 2032/25 battery.

  • Have had at least 10 of these things and different versions. All break within a few months and 1-2 out if every pack dosent work out of the box.
Such crap. Any other reliable alternatives?

    • I say new apple air tag is coming soon

    • Chain it to your pants?

  • Got two from OW for $19

    • no way, store or online?

      • In store :)

        • What store? Did they question the different model numbers?

          • @jayboi: Don’t want to name the particular store but it was in South East Melbourne. The sales lady was surprised with the price difference and got someone else to look at it. Three people ended up looking at it to see if it was the same and they decided it was.

  • I called a regional store showing Stock and bought 2 and paid $25 including postage. They sent me a link on my phone to pay and process. Traralgon Victoria

  • Why would they even make it so that the battery isn't replaceable.

    • -1

these ones are replaceable. The upgraded models are the ones that are not replaceable. It is so you will subscribe to their premium membership where they will replace your dead tiles with new ones at a low cost.

      • Tile reminds me of apple with their irreplaceable parts.

      • +1

The model listed is RT-05001-NA which seems like the one where you can't replace the batteries.

        • Not sure what the model number says but I bought two from OW today and you can replace the batteries.

  • These are an unreliable and overpriced product and should be avoided. I own two and they consistently lose bluetooth connection which renders them useless.

  • Apple are about to announce their own tags, if rumours are to be believed they will make cheap tags seem a bit crap.

    • The iTag . Costs 1000 dollars. Non replaceable battery lasts 3 months. Comes in gold and silver.

    • Larger network of users sounds ideal for stalking people over long distances

      Glad I'm not female
      …or attractive

  • I price matched with OW over the phone and put 2 of these on hold for matched price which I will pick later. He has put a quote on the items so I will not need to explain the price match thing when I go to pick them. The ones they have is a newer model which is $39 each but he did not question that.

EDIT: I finally picked them from OW. Here is the link:
