    EKO 55" QLED 4K Frameless TV $649

Has anyone been to one of the EKO stores?

  • How are these Eko TV's for gaming?

    • -3

It works well with Angry Birds.

        please…jv…stop

No way… Don't want the piggies to win…

        • +1

one part of me wants it to stop, but the other half kinda enjoys using my 5 daily down votes.
JV kinda makes my day with that

          • @Drakesy: Where would we be without jv?

Hey, that’d make a great election slogan.

            Thought about running for PM?

    • Son is playing Doom Eternal on XBox which is the most frantic game I've seen and he's very happy with it.

The sound is awful, you'll need a sound bar or sound system.

  • Keen to hear feedback from anyone who got one of these on the last deal?

Also how is the audio quality? I'm not expecting much, but would prefer to avoid a sound bar for a spare room TV if possible.

    • It reviews very well.
      https://www.techguide.com.au/news/televisions-news/eko-andro…

The audio output was mentioned as being decent, which is good news as that's the weakness in these cheaper sets.

      • That's not a review for the QLED frameless model.

I've got the 65" QLED frameless however and I have had no problems. For this price it's a great tv. Can't comment on audio though because I have a sound bar setup with it.

      I got one today @ $649.

First impressions…using as android TV + connected to my HTPC.
Win 10 picked it up no worries with 4k@60hz max refresh.
8 bit only though. lower resolutions/hz showed a 12 bit panel.
This might be a function my graphics card + 5m HDMI cable . dunno ???

Android TV setup & runs fine (not much testing yet) same as my Android Hisense 65RG in my living room
Blacks/colours seem better than my old Hisense 65RG (its bad)
After I play with RGB, brightness , gamma and contrast I reckon I can get it even better.
Screen reflection are noticeable bad. probably avoid if you wanna use with bright windows behind ya. non issue for me.

Sound is GARBAGE!! sounds like a tinny mono speaker
I ran one of those 20hz to 28000hz Youtube tests
I heard nothing until like 100hz ! Then the sound again disappeared again at the high end.
Dog was not happy about sound test above 16khz hehe
Its got ARC on HDMI1 so I'll be getting a cheap ARC soundbar for it.

I'm happy for $650 picked up on the spot in store today.
It was marked $1049 staff were making a bit of a deal about selling it to me for the sale price.
A non-retarded staff member eventually came along and looked up the promotion online and put it through @$649.

It's been that price since it was first released. Waiting for the 65inch for that price.

    • Still a great deal.

    • same here. Waiting for 65" to drop the price.

    • Waiting for 65" for that price

    • This price but waiting for 65"

    • Man, 65 inches would be great for that price.

      • Still waiting….

    • It's been that price since it was first released

It WAS that price at first release, then it was $1099.

The 65" doesn't even appear on their site unless you load a direct link so I'm guessing they are phasing those out and/or no longer available. Unless it's just me?

  • Just an amateur question - what is the benefit of frameless? I would've thought that having a frame at the same distance as the TV you are looking at provides a better perspective for your eyes to focus - any thoughts??

    • It still has a "frame" under the glass. It just doesn't have a traditional plastic/whatever frame around it.

      • It actually does. The frameless crap is bs. The plastic frame is just thinner than usual. I got my mate this one and the frame is like 8mm where as my older model which is also 65" but not QLED is around 11mm from memory.

        • That is what I meant. Not a bulky 50mm+ like a regular lcd.

  • Is anyone actually seeing stock for these? I can't get online with delivery or C&C here in Vic.

    • Got one today NSW 2299 .
      Jesmond store.
No Help to you in VIC obv…

  • Isn't QLED a LG panel behind the screen?

    • QLED is used by Samsung i dont know if they own the trademark or IP on it .. OLED is LG

  • Very nice price.
Does anyone know if I'd get a better deal on another tv around this price during the the Black Friday sales?
Or just pull the trigger on this one?

  • I brought this TV today, haven't tested it yet but at Big W Townsville they also had a 65" for $635 for the ones wondering. I was abit confused because all the signage is UHD LED but the box has 4k.

excuse copy and paste of my above comment.

        • Wow I was expecting something along the lines of "is good" or "meh" or "is bad", thanks for the detail
I'm in the market for a new 55" TV, will run new google chromecast TV and separate speaker system so these worries not too bad for me

Sounds like a good buy for your typical netflix/youtube etc user? Can't see much else that would top it in this price range and I don't want to spend double on OLED

  • Happy with mine, blacks on an led and thin
