I have a platinum charge, but I didn't get it.

    • Check later in the day … I'd be surprised if it doesn't show up, given borders are still closed, so the travel benefits are useless at the moment.

  • not on my david jones platinum card

    • Don't think David Jones cards will get it.

    • +2

I think they're talking about the Platinum Charge card.

  • I wonder if this is for those who didn't use it last time.

    • +1

Nah - I used it last time and got it again.

It's been >6months since the last deal, I think.

  • got it on my main Plat card, no supp cards

  • Got me excited but not on my any of my cards however I did get and use the offer a few months back which I think was $400.

    • +3

i got that one too, got this one too. only on the main card, no supps

      • Did you get the earlier one on supps too?

        • no, not had on supps ever

      • ok good to know. Will keep checking. It's a fantastic offer.

    • +1

Keep checking. I've noticed the offers (like shop small) trickle out throughout the day to different card members.

  • +1

I didn't get it on my plat charge

  • I haven't got them sadly.

I only get car rental firms and hotel groups, none of which are any interest or of use to me.

  • +1

    Didn't get it :(

  • +1

Got it first round, but cancelled my card before it got renewed.

  • Hasn't appeared for me yet :-(
But I did take advantage of it the last time…
Was awesome to get free groceries :-)
    I'll keep looking!

  • nothing on my plat charge

  • Got it last time but seems nothing for me this time.

  • Don't have this on my Plat Charge. Did also have it last time, and used it all of course.

  • Just out of curiosity, for the platinum charge, did Amex offer any form of recompense over the COVID period. The fee is about $1500 and for at least 1/2 the year, the benefits associated with the card were unusable, eg lounge, events etc.

    • two of these grocery cashbacks = $750
      +
4.5% cashback on all purchases (cash in your points) for 3 months, ended 20th July

If one was smart it was enough to justify the A.F a few times over IMO.
I prepaid a lot of bills that I could. 4.5% is better than any bank was/is giving!

      • 4.5% cashback

What sort of sorcery is this…?

      • I prepaid a lot of bills

Should've just set up an credit card terminal to pay yourself.

two of these grocery cashbacks = $750

First offer stacked with 4.5% points deal and woolies gift cards via cash rewards, so it was worth closer to $440.

        • +1

Setting up a terminal gets your card cancelled.
But I made enough from it anyway

  • Haven't got this on my Platinum Charge

  • The platinum charge has a decent annual fee, but do deals like this appear frequently enough for it to be worth it?

    • +2

      Not really.

People get it for the travel benefits - $450 travel credit (+ $400 on platinum reserve card) + lounge access. There's a few other benefits, but YMMV.

Since travel is non-existant due to covid, Amex has been offering other benefits (like this deal) to retain card members.

      • +1

the $400 TC on the reserve is gone for new members think I read.
For now it will continue for existing reserve card holders only

    • +3

During non-covid times its really the travel perks that help you redeem the A.F back
If travel is not big for you, then there is little point

free upgrades at hotels, free upgrades & not having to line up when renting cars, lounge acess at airports around the world etc

  • Nothing here. Got it last time after complaining about no targeted offers for 2 years. Now get offers but not this one

  • Any experience whether WW e-gift cards trigger the offer again this time around?

(I know the T&C says no, but they did last time too…)

    • Try it on a small denomination? see what happens. I haven't tried it myself.

I've also noticed that not all coles/woolies are triggering the cashback this time. I haven't spoken to amex about it, because I'll probably use it up at other stores anyway. Anyone else seen this?

  • Anyone not getting this offer this time even they have a Platinum Charged Card?

    • Lots of comments with similar experience above …
