    Scalpers are crying.

    • Smart ones dumped this ages ago.

    • Not the ones who've already sold it.

  • thanks OP, order one!

  • Thanks! Ordered one as well.

FYI - 2.3% cashback via Cashrewards.

  • +2

    where is the bargain?

    • +4

      Houston, we have a problem…

    • +3

The bargain is that you can now get this set - that retired about 11 months ago - for normal rrp as opposed to $250+. (And it was around $400 before the re-release was announced.)

      • fair enough. i see them as two separate products (the 21309 will retain value because of that number), and 92176 will be had for 99-109 soon enough - waiting for kmart/bigw/target pricing and then amazon matching!

        • Limited release and numbers.
I don't believe it will get to retail but who knows.

          • @Elias11: I've seen nothing to suggest any limitation on this re-release? Would love a link or guidance towards that info if you can?

        • The new set has reduced demand for the original because those who don't care about the set number will buy the new one.
The reduced demand for the old one has already dropped its pricing from $400 to (last I saw) $225 on Facebook.

After the new one has sold out, possibly the original set number will be worth more. Hard to say.

        • Just wondering what's the difference?

Saw the real thing at the Johnson Space Center many years ago. These things are BIG !!!

      • What's that supposed to be? A histogram?

  • +2

This is such a great set. There's some repitition in the segments so it's great to build with your friend or kid. It looks fantastic when built.

  • -6

Is this the first Lego Ideas Theme they have re issued ?

If so just greed to cash in more with a great set during the pandemic by Disney .

Limited numbers means until the demand stops .

You can easily beat RRP in the future if not a sucker buying new releases :)

BTW available multiple Lego retailers now at RRP .

    • Which retailers?

      • -1

Shopforme I received an email .

    • +4

      Disney owns LEGO?

      • +2

Yes. Disney faked the moon landings just to sell this set.

  • Looks like Limit Exceeded?

  • -8

Builders think great more sets to build etc but going to my favourite set 2008 10189 Taj Mahal the used price on release of the reissue has gone down to where I bought 1 recently complete with box used $300 . Prior to re issue was holding somewhere around 3K . Used sets depreciate substantially as well on re issued sets .

    • So are you pissed you can no longer get $3k for you TM

    • +5

Maybe stick to traditional investments instead of toys.

    • +2

      It's a toy.

If you're dumb enough to treat it like a serious investment that's a you problem, not a reason for a neg.

    • +1

Wait, did you neg this deal purely because you can't scalp for as much money anymore?

Hardly a valid use of a neg. Have downvoted so it (hopefully) gets removed.

  • Oh! Looks exactly the same as previous one from the box https://youtu.be/ueMo6Hx1R-8

    • Yep. It is the same… except for the set number.

  • +4

While this seems like an FYI post, and good for folks about to pay more than rrp for the previous set, I still believe that any lego at RRP doesn't belong on Ozbargain. When this does hit Myer, etc, and there's a 20-30% off sale, I'll upvote then. And for those who think this is going to sell out, get in quick, etc etc… it's not. This isn't OzIwantItNow, it's OzBargain, and there's no bargain to be had here.

    • +2

Well, yes and no…. the original one is at a price well above that rrp and was the only way to get it (retired). This being basically the same thing at rrp, is kind of a bargain in that respect. Different to normal rrp ozbargain's in that it is technically only available at inflated prices til now (not because of demand, but because it's literally not sold anymore).

From memory bought the previous numbered set when 1 st retiring at Target for $99 .
    Thank God cleared them at $200 - $300 b4 the rebirth :)
No doubt Target getting this one again .
Anyone enjoying the first set build I hope you realize the market value of your set has gone down by around $70 - $100 tks to the rebirth .
    Enjoy it or not !

  • +2

    I do not have one.
The re-release gives me a chance to buy one

  • +1

It's also available on Amazon for same price and quick prime delivery.

  • -1

Mine was delivered straight from Leggo on the 7th.
    I ordered on the 5th.

But yeah depends on backorder etc.
So Amazon prime might be the way to go

  • +1

Big W has it as well btw.

  • -1

I swear I paid $99 for one of these.

    • It was like $111 or $119 if I remember correctly.
