Why do people post one way deals, when the return price (unless you are defecting to communist China) also needs to be considered?

    • +2

most people have no problems with simple addition

Flights are cheaper on the way home @ $360.66

    • +3

Actually for some people one way make sense, ie someone going away for more than 12 months as many RT tickets are only valid for that time.

Or for example a Chinese student who has been studying here wanting to return home.

Jetstar can make this quite a cheap alternative for these people to travel

chinese student prefer fly with china airlines mate, because most china airlines have 1 year open ticket. and most of them prefer having cabin attendant that able to speak mandarin, and give them food, drink and luggage for free. most importantly, most of them buy the return ticket from chinese travel agent as well, because most of them browsing chinese website. and when they purchase ticket, most of them paying with cash. i am not saying all chinese student, what i am saying is most of them( majority). so for some people that does not meet the criteria what i was saying above, please don't take offense with my comment.

          Sorry… just to clarify…

What do you mean by "luggage for free" ?

Physical luggage bags given for free by China Airlines??

        • i mean baggage allowance

    • +2

I'm interested in one way deals like this. Instead of returning via Singapore, I could return via Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taiwan or KL (admittedly with different airlines).

      • exactly. Go one way with Jetstar, return with AirAisa if you need.

      • That's how I roll too.

      • no more air asia, they almost makes my parent stranded in kl airport, they change the flight departure without send us any notification, it was lucky that day we did web check in and found that flight departure has been changed and we still have to call their hotline in kl for 2 hrs before able to change to another flight. if the price different only $100-200, better you take full service airline that have certainty of their regular service and provide you free meal, drinks, entertainment and baggage allowance.

        calculate your final cost.

  • No deal.
When Jetstar first introduced the route. It was only $149/249 one way.
Now they have inflated the price so that it is something more expensive than an ordinary airline.
Remember Jetstar is low cost airline you will have to buy food/entertainment on board.

    • I think you are referring to melbourne to singapore not melbourne to beijing via singapore?

      • It is indeed MEL to PEK for $149

        • +6

It's nothing worth to talk about the old promotion. unless you live in the past….
so do you also think any SS2 >$2 is not a bargain??!!

        • I got my flight for $149 during the last sale but couldn't get the return ticket. It's no big deal so I may just go to Japan from Beijing then fly back from Japan :) It's cheaper to fly to Japan from Beijing anyway.

    • Yeah, but that was an introductory price - surely you didn't expect the price to say at $149 forever?

  • who is going to china and return with empty handed????
if you have family in china, most of you will bring some present to your family over there, when you returned to australia, most of you will bring back your shopping stuff over there.
so most of you need to pay extra cost for the luggage.

china southern airlines, currently have promotion $699 (http://www.travel.com.au/international-airfares/cheap-flight…) for return flight and remember china southern airlines is full service airlines, you don't u need to purchase your drink, food and luggage.

    • CS Air overall is a better service than Jetstar execept for one thing - passengers on mainland Chinese airlines are usually VERY noisy. This is the reason I will never ever fly Air China again - no matter what the price. No offence to my Chinese buddies.

      • AGREE!!!, you don't have to be in the airplane, on the bus, train, tram and ferry, some people talking loud, but not all of them mate. especially if you take night flight, most of them are sleeping.

      • Agree re the noise, and on some flights there has been very little english spoken by staff. Was not helpful AT ALL when we were redirected to a regional airport midair and I was going to miss a connecting flight, but the staff couldn't speak enough english to help or properly explain what was happening.

    • From China it's cheaper to post your stuff back than pay airline luggage surcharges.
I did this in January, saved a bundle from posting two big boxes full of crap back to Australia.

Going the other way, as you were talking about, it's not as cheap but still cheaper than taking it on the airline assuming it's not just a few things you can pack with your clothes.

still can't justify the cost flying with jetstar compare than cs.

jetstar cost included 20kg baggage allowance:

        • I don't care who you wanna fly with, I replied to your comment regarding bringing stuff to/from and the cost if it.

        • You do make a compelling case.

        • i know my neighbour that always got parcel from their family in china, it tooks 1.5-3 months to deliver. for me i don't buy up to two box of stuff and send the item in here, except i have shop in here :)
most of the time just bring big suitcase then filled the suitcase to full and make sure not exceed the baggage allowance, so far sq/mh from beijing / shanghai has no issue for luggage up to 32kg

    • Use sea mail to transport stuff back. Sure, it takes 4 to 6 weeks to arrive, but it's very cheap compared to taking it with you on a plane. As a bonus, the friendly staff at China Post pack the goods for you. Just be sure to leave at least an hour to visit the post office.

also this is great for people who want to travel AROUND SE Asia… not everyone will go RETURN to China.

I would start the leg of my trip with this deal, and work my way back to oz with a series of other deals and stops to make one cheap tour.

hi mod why my neg vote has been cancelled? the cost flying jetstar it not bargain in my opinion compare than cs that have full service airlines and cheaper the cost as well

    • with 6 negative votes by the community, your vote is canceled by the system. No mod intervention occurred. Generally if we cancel a vote we explain why. And its usually if someone hasn't followed the guidelines.

And I wasn't one of the people who voted your comment down, even though you disagreed with part of what I said, I wouldn't do that.
