      These are really hard to get at retail.
      So if the kids want one for xmas, this is a good buy.

          Holiday exclusive set like Hidden Fates last year. This ETB has the best value overall with that Charizard Full Art Promo card (going for average $50 on it's own)

          I remember dad used to pay me $20 a day to move roofing shingles on the building site to where he needed them,when i was 6yo. He didnt ask, I did.

          I also got $20 for birthdays and christmas from my 3 or so living relatives.

          So, assuming you were good with money as a kid, iirc I was proud to have about $300 saved when I was 7.

          Also, this card game is rather challenging; its popular right into the 20yo player base.

          Remember its japanese; just because its "cute" doesnt mean parts arent for adults.

          Even the electronic games have the need for algebra and an understanding of geneology to play 'well'.

          Been more than 10 years since i touched em, but the learning curve is steep my dude.

      It's trading cards. Basically loot box gambling targeted at kids and kidults to keep buying more packs for collections and playing. Collected them for a very long time and glad got over it now.

        Holy good gravy man, those videos have millions of views each. How much have you spent on cards and how much have you earned from YouTube? Why didn't you keep going just as a YouTube job, treating unboxings as a carefully budgeted business expense as props in your videos. You still have a half a million subscribers.

          Ended up getting Ultra Pro folders for each series to arrange them sequentially then sold them off showing the complete as well as missing ones per page. People snap up a collection folio for far far more than individual cards.

          Only one I've kept is the SM Promos collection. Still missing a few including the elusive SM231 Champions Festival but will look to complete that at some point as have well over 200 of them.

          Didn't buy a single Sword & Shield series pack and now feels like missed out with too much to catch-up so as more and more time passes, feel less and less inclined to partake again.

          There's been 4 expansions for S&S already. No point starting now. You got this. PS5 out this week!

      The card game itself is basically like a board game, yes. It's just expensive and unbalanced if people buy and build their own decks, but the game is fine. It does feel like a pokemon battle and does require strategy. You could in theory buy some starter packs and just leave it at that. But the kids will probably want more cards.

    This is ligitimately the only card game i enjoyed.

    Mostly because you could play your opponent as well as you.

    2x charmander out? Its likely this deck has charmeleons and charizards… hmm.
    You can strategize around that.

    Compared to yugioh, or Magic, or most others;
    "This deck looks to be black-red, well, that tells me nothing other than expect damage".

    pokemonTCG was my favorite by far.

    Plenty of adults still play at fastbreaksports if you're a brisbane person, so if you enjoyed, hit it up.

        Ordered 1. Late Jan/Feb delivery, frustrating as that was primary xmas present for a child obsessed by the cards.

        Shame JB didnt apply a quantity limit for more to go around.

    great stuff!! bought a few as well. at this price its a steal. these go for 50-100% markup on ebay as well.

    this is also a great price for the burning shadows set which also includes a Island Guardians Tin (which also includes another 4 booster packs from sun and moon). at $60 for both, its also a steal. burning shadows ETB goes for 150-200 on ebay, and the tin is about $30. Note also that the tin includes 1 pack of XY evolutions booster pack which goes for around 20-25$ on ebay.

    UPDATE: looks like the burning shadows set is sold out now. there is still the crimson invasion ETB + tin set for the same price, but no one seems to be wanting this set.

        it was advertised in their weekly/monthly email.

        Another tip is if your local costco still has the 3 pokeball tin packs (each one has 4 packs of boosters across the sun and moon range) for around $42 i think, you could theoretically profit from these very easily. There is a particular 3 pokeball tin pack whereby each pokeball will have 1 pack of XY generations for a total of 3 XY boosters. can easilly sell these for $20 each on ebay, profitting around $20 net and keep the rest of the 9 random boosters free….

        Or better yet, just sell 2 of the XY boosters and break even on the tins. you then get to keep 10 boosters for free and hopefully be able to pull the elusive charizard ($$$!!)

        Unfortunately my local costco is all out of these as of about a week ago.

      Good thing that I ordered another set via Amazon just in case to avoid disappointment from my son. Dispatched and arriving on Nov 27. Paid $130.
