Gonna be a crazy discount on those three overpriced items 😍

    • +7

10% off 12% jacked prices, you're only gonna pay ~2% more than when they weren't on sale. Bargain!

  • +14

Great 10% off a secret list of products.

    • +11

Yeah can't understand how this is allowed to be posted. There's no deal listed, we don't know what products are eligible. Everytime I've tried to use this in the past whatever I put in the cart wasn't eligible, no matter what category it is.

10% off brings the items on my watch list in line with every other online retailer - awesome!

Just read the Ts & Cs and followed the link in them. Waa waa a-wee waaaaaaaa!

Look at all the items on the page they link to in the Ts&Cs, so much there we want to buy!

    Oh wait…. no-

Not one of them even relate to this promotion. Click on any one to find that none are "Eligible Items"
[From the Ts&Cs: meaning "all the eBay Plus badged items listed on eBay.com.au where these terms and conditions are found and the coupon redemption code PLUSUP10 is displayed in the item listing"]

Quite telling really, as apart from the page not being live yet, we can see:
    * A pre and post promo page is somehow beyond the team doing the promo
    * Instead, they create a broken link knowing it will default to https://www.ebay.com.au/? (default page where things you've viewed in the past are displayed)
    * One of the oldest and largest eCommerce companies, for some reason, can't run a promotion that includes a dedicated page prior to the start of the promotion (lost promotional oppo). Also, for some reason it doesn't care that this is misleading to consumers reading the Ts&Cs, or seeing ads where the link is published), prior to the start time.

    So clearly:
    - Their heart really isn't in it
    - The managers don't notice or care
    - eBay staff aren't telling the managers the value of CX, or this doesn't matter to the managers (who shouldn't need to be told anyhow)
    - It's all too hard
    - Members don't count anyhow…
    - Their 'Plus' program is weak as P*ss

    OK, rant over.

No discount should be really be down-voted, but eBay deserves no love for decades of disdain, lack of style, and being downright lazy.

  • so computing accessories don't participate..sad

I hate these "deals". I purchased something in a previous similar sale that was coming from the US but was found via searching the AU site and after I selected "commit to purchase" - which showed the discount, it then tried to charge me full price in the payment screen. Ebay they wouldn't honor the discount and advised I would receive a strike on my account if I didn't pay despite there not being ANY terms and conditions that specified it, the customer service rep even confirmed this, a few days later, they added those conditions in. It's one of many reasons I try to steer clear from ebay whenever I can.

Ebay they wouldn't honor the discount and advised I would receive a strike on my account if I didn't pay

If it was "buy it now" just click on request to cancel and the seller will accept the cancel request. Which conditions did they add? "If a listing displays a discount in error then we don't have to honor it"?

  • +6

No wonder I barely use eBay these days, 10% off eligible items and you have to pay $49/year for that privilege.

    • +3

Disputed with the $49 yearly payment with PAypal, and they were waiting for a response from Ebay to totally not give me my money back for bad value.

In an unpredented turn of events, I got a full refund, because Ebay didn't even bloody answer the dispute back in time.

Tells you how much they care, even they know its not worth it to the customer or to fight it.

      • Thinking about doing this. How long was it from buying eBay plus when you decided to dispute it?

        • +1

I forgot about it for 32 days and then I got charged after the free trial.

Because during that 30 days I knew there was absolute dogshit deals only to be had, I disputed there and then. Escalated it to paypal instead of waiting for ebay to respond, then ebay had 2 weeks or so to respond.

And as you know, they didn't say a thing, 'won' the case out of default, got refunded.

  • eligible…sure…

Ebay has become that dodgy salesman with the greasy combover, trying to lure you with cheap gimmicks

About as useful as the $5 codes they send out?

    • +1

I do use those up on household items generally less than retail before code. Paid $49, got $50 voucher, have spent 7x $5 vouchers, and saved a couple of hundred using plus exclusive codes so it's been worth it for me. Always getting free express delivery vs paid standard, and free returns is another bonus. Still, their promo patterns are getting very tired now

  • +3

    Another snorefest eBay Plus deal.

    • I cancelled my eBay plus but it doesn't cancel until the next billing date, the day after cancelling I accidentally saved $180 (coupon code was displayed on checkout of an order I was making). When i'm actually hunting for deals though eBay Plus has been weak as hell and I haven't actually got anything from it since the price is still more expensive than other retailers even after their plus exclusive promotion codes.

      • why upvote then

        • There's always a chance that I might stumble across something else by accident so I upvote it for visibility as if I didn't see it here i'd have no idea a promotion is running, as another comment in here says - eBay are terrible at communicating these sales to people.

  • +3

why do people still upvote this crap

    • +3

      Yeh who knows!!

    • +1

There is also the reason we may have been spoiled by eBay (not eBay Plus) deals from a few years ago, for example the discounted eBay gift cards and 10% sitewide discount, so now all those deals are long gone, all we are left with are these terrible eBay Plus deals in comparison.

  • Are all items covered for Ebay plus members in this sale? Or is it just, hand picked 'ebay plus' items
Yes, I stay clear of ebay.

    Grievances
    1) Paypal is notorious for poor exchange rate.
2)Also, recently when my item purchase was cancelled by seller, I was refunded a whole lot less that what I paid. Funnily enough, Aussie dollar did not dip between purchase date and refund date( rather, it went up very slightly). This was on paypal
    3) Weirdly enough, unlike before, my ebay.com.au shows poor results (despite having picked right selection in left panel in filter section) as opposed to browsing through just ebay.com

    • 1) Paypal rates are crap, you can set it to just charge your card in the currency without converting though
      2) Sellers can choose to give a partial refund, I think it should state on the refund if it's partial or not?
      3) eBay website sucks, I have a lot of problem with items vanishing when applying filters that shouldn't be filtered out and when I switch apps on my phone eBay vanishes from my recents very often so I have to keep going back to my home screen then launching the app again.

No bargain. 10% of items jacked by 12% ACCC needs to slap eBay hard.

  • Ozloot ebaysellers: Use this code before tomorrow JACKUP15

Jack is back to town after Covid!

  • Hmm, the ebay plus item I was interested in is no longer available…..I wonder if there's a connection.

  • can these just not get posted?

  • +2

This is too general to be listed. These types of posts should be banned due to "No bargain listed". Not sure why mod didnt remove this post.

  • This again? Pay 2% more instead of 12%. Yay.

    Not worth it

  • Lack of competition :( . If only Amazon was a proper alternative…

    • +2

Don't understand how Amazon sells anything well. The search is not far away from crappy
