      probably tastes the same

$30 even with a decent best before date would still only just be a thumbs up.
There's good reason for best before dates on beer. It's not like chocolate or soft drink where it still tastes OK past its prime and just looks a bit different.

At $20 a case or less I might be tempted by this just to give to people I don't like as xmas presents. For $30 you should be getting drinkable beer.

  • They're allowed to sell food past its BB?

As far as I know you can sell past a best before date, but not a use by date.

  • VB past it's best before date might now actually be drinkable ;) ugh!
    NO DEAL!

This war on liquor prices is nothing but a marketing scam - the specials are not special at all!!

I would rather have $29 in my wallet and not drink VB. Even if it was free, I'd be hesitant.

Why is this STILL the best selling beer in Australia? Absolute joke.

    • Back in the day I could understand but when so many killer European beers are available for pretty much as cheap as Tooheys New, VB etc, I really don't understand it…

Even locally we have some killer beers (especially coming out of Tasmania) but they shoot themselves in the foot when they mostly only ship their lower end beers to the mainland (eg: Cascade).
