I've heard 27inch 1080p doesn't look very sharp at all.

    • If you sit real close it won't be but high FPS games with lots of movement which this monitor is ideal for 1080p at 27" shouldn't be bad.

    • some folks still happily buy 31" FHD monitors. That is what a real unexplainable mystery to me.

  • FM, still FHD. This is not the standard these days.

It is still the standard for professional e-sports.

The high frame-rate (and sustaining it) is more important in competitive gaming than fidelity.

    • Interesting…

  • Who is still buying 1080p way too many deals posted like this

    • Yeah there has been about 20 different 1080p deals posted this month.

1440p is not far off being double the pixels that need to be rendered compared to 1080p (3.6M vs 2.1M), which equates to considerably higher framerates.

It's purely preference, but it is more typical for people playing games like competitive FPS to have a very high refresh rate compared to a higher resolution. A stable 240Hz @ 1080p is much more achievable compared to 240Hz @ 1440p.

    • FPS gamers or just people that prefer high frame rate over 1440p, I assume.

Yes, it's far from the best resolution available these days, but there's still a market for 1080p high frame rate monitors.

      • Still a market for superman? With supernatural eyesight? who is seeing 240frames per second?

        • Have you tried it before? you might be surprised. Looking at something like www.testufo.com is good at showing the difference.

There are 360Hz monitors as well, but of course this is deep into diminishing returns territory.

I'm using a 24" 240hz 1080p monitor for high FPS gaming, I love it. Couldn't go back to low refresh rate for competitive shooters.

      Then I use a 75" 120hz 4k TV for non-FPS games.

I don't know how I'd feel about using a 27" 240hz 1080p monitor though, I find 24" ideal myself. Maybe a 27" 240hz 1440p monitor would be great but I don't know if theres any GPUs out there than can reliably hit 240hz at 1440p.

They removed all their 1440p monitors from ebay?

For everyone obsessed with 1440p, 1080p is still great for a lot of use cases. Watching movies, competitive gaming, general usage are all suitable for FHD. The only time you should look for 1440p is power user scenarios such as code/video/photo editing and high quality (not competitive) gaming.

From someone who owns both 1080p and 1440p 27inch screens. Side by side, the resolutions difference is miniscule.
