member is 8 mins old, seems a bit suspicious to me, i suspect they are from computer alliance

  • Happy to wait and save $600.

  • +8

And there's a $1200 card coming out from AMD at 1am which will have 6GB more VRAM and be either equal, close or slightly better in performance.

    Avoid it, otherwise you're gambling.

  • This is horribly priced way beyond rrp

  • +3

    Price in title needed.

  • But hey, at least it comes with the new COD game hahaha

    • +1

Yeah and it's 'free' bwhahahaha… What a joke.

  • +1

    Got mine for $1139…

Just had my EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra arrive, was $1259. This is the furthest thing from a deal I can possibly think of.

    • apparently prices have been jacked up due to demand and limited supply issues…..so best to wait till demand is over and supply is surplus….which may or may not happen in the next coming months….

  • +2

Man you guys are stingy with the negs, this price is daylight robbery for a mid range card at best

  • +1

lol computer alliance has become a scalper

  • +6

Op posts a price jacked 3080 a mere 3 minutes after signing up and doesn't follow the correct posting format; merely advertises that it is back in stock. Feels like an associated post to me.

  • Scalping price, thanks for pointing me at someone i can avoid in the future.

  • OP obly joined ozbargain 15 mins ago to post this "deal". Am I only one thinking this is sus?

    • +5

Plot twist, it's one of Computer Alliance's competitors trying to make them look bad

      • Possible, CA doesn't usually make horrible posts like this.

  • Bargain?

  • Above RRP and Centrecom did the same thing yesterday. Called them 'scum' on eBay and they had a tantrum.

  • +3

this is computer alliances smurf ozb account.

  • FYI: I contacted Computer Alliance regarding the 6800XT launch. Here are some quotes:

"These will be listed Wed night, midnight Brisbane time — we won't be showing any stock as in stock and will only have a small number physically that will be manually allocated. Clicking the order button fast will not give you a better chance of being allocated stock.

Very little chance of getting a card out of early stock. If you are interested in a full system, maybe."

"You can put a backorder in, but we will not be providing your "position in the que" or ETA and it will just be a matter of waiting, probably weeks, till we can allocate stock. If you don't need a card asap, best to hold off till stock gets under control."

To their credit I think they were managing expectations.

  • +1

Way too expensive for a 3080. Not a deal.

  • +1

Will be avoiding this company altogether, disgraceful price jack.

  • Clearly sock puppeting

  • Horrible price

  • I've never done this before but would it be possible to buy the card at this price with a Latitude 28 Degrees card and then wait use price protection to get back the difference when it drops in price substantially in a few months?

    • Did this with a 3080 from Newegg. Claimed price protection for PLE price. No problem.

  • How is this a deal when Strix is $1700 with better caps and cooler dual bios and 3 8pins..

  • Not a bargain. Put in the forums.

  • Not a bargain at all

  • Nice ripoff.

  • Disgraceful. Have purchased from CA in the past but this will make me rethink purchasing from them again.

  • Neg and reporting this to nVidia & Gigabyte, this is over the MSRP price of the card, by a margin too.

  • Lol, no thanks

  • Waste of time.

  • Thanks OP, always appreciate people helping me out with my shitlist, on you go computer alliance

  • How the hell is this a bargain?

  • does this guy get banned if enough negatives?
It's obviously an alt fake account
Member since 2 hours ago. not suspicious at all
    Not a bargain

  • +2

I remember when the Ozbargain slogan was "No Computer Alliance? No deal!"

Now with the sock puppeting and price jacking it has become "No, Computer Alliance! No Deal!!"

  • Damn, computer alliance was the very last retailer I expected to do something like this. Oh well guess a few hundred bucks scalping is worth your reputation these days

  • Bugger off Tom.

  • lel nah m8

  • This 'deal' needs to be buried. The pricing on this new gen of cards is extortionate.

  • Well done Computer Alliance! Excellent way to lose my business. Forever.

  • oh really?

  • scalpers

  • not a bargain>?

  • what the heck CA?

  • Price jacked to buggery, this is a $750US card. Price should be $1200 no more.

  • This card is expensive enough at AU$1499 which it usually goes for

  • Very sus

  • Sorry mate this isn't even OzRRP. This is OzScalper level stuff.
